Item type:Publication, Plant assisted synthesis of CuO/ZnO heterojunction nanocomposites using Mitragyna speciosa (Korth.) Havil leaf extract for photocatalytic activity under full spectrum LED light and antibacterial performance(2026-07-15) ;Phunpueok, Akapong ;Thongpool, Voranuch ;Jaiyen, Sarawut ;Bootchanont, AtipongSukprasit, NuchitaCuO/ZnO heterojunction nanocomposites were synthesized through a green plant assisted method using Mitragyna speciosa leaf extract as a natural reducing and stabilizing agent. Structural and morphological analyses (XRD, FE-SEM, EDS, UV–vis, and BET) confirmed the formation of CuO/ZnO heterostructures with mesoporous characteristics. The 0.25CuO/0.75ZnO heterojunction nanocomposites exhibited the smallest ZnO crystallite size (∼8.06 nm) and the highest surface area (28.97 m2/g). Photocatalytic performance evaluated by methylene blue degradation under full-spectrum irradiation showed that the 0.25CuO/0.75ZnO heterojunction nanocomposites achieved 92.29% degradation within 90 min with a rate constant of 0.02491 min−1. In addition, the nanocomposites demonstrated strong antibacterial activity, achieving 99.9% reduction of E. coli and >99.9% inhibition of S. aureus . The enhanced performance is attributed to efficient charge separation at the CuO/ZnO heterojunction and the generation of reactive oxygen species.1 - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Mechanistic insights into efficient methylene blue adsorption by single-rod mangosteen peel waste composite starch cryogel: Batch and column studies(2026-02-01) ;Phatthanawiwat, Kharittha; ;Wongniramaikul, WorawitChoodum, AreeA green composite tablet, based on the immobilization of mangosteen peel (MP) waste particles in starch cryogel (Cry-DMP), was successfully prepared and characterized. Cry-DMP exhibited a high adsorption capacity for methylene blue (MB), with a maximum capacity (qₘₐₓ) of 26.53 mg g⁻¹ , and the equilibrium data were best described by the Langmuir model ( R² = 0.9902). High removal efficiencies of 97.21 % in synthetic water and 70.8 % in real Batik industrial wastewater were achieved without chemical activation of the mangosteen peel particles, demonstrating the practical applicability of the adsorbent. The suggested adsorption mechanism mainly relies on electrostatic interaction with additional contributions from hydrogen bonding and π–π interactions. The pseudo-second-order model best described the adsorption kinetics ( R² = 1), and the adsorption of MB onto Cry-DMP was determined to be spontaneous and endothermic. Furthermore, the Yoon–Nelson model accurately described the experimental results from continuous flow experiments ( R 2 = 0.8598–0.9981). Sodium silicate reduces removal efficiency by 8.82 %, while sodium phosphate increases it by 2.94 %. Cry-DMP effectively removes MB and other cationic dyes but is ineffective against anionic dyes, highlighting its selective adsorption capabilities. These findings emphasize the effectiveness of Cry-DMP as a green adsorbent for MB and highlight the feasibility of waste utilization with a greener approach.1 - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Valorization of horse manure conversion to magnetic carbon nanofiber for dye adsorption by hydrothermal treatment coupled with carbonization(2024-06-01) ;Kaewtrakulchai, Napat ;Chanpee, Sirayu ;Pasee, Warit ;Putta, AmpolPollution of water resources has recently increased as a result of expanded industrial activity. Recycling waste biomass into bio-adsorbent material offers a cheap, easy, and eco-friendly solution. In this study, magnetic carbon nanofibers (MCNF) with a highly porous structure were developed from magnetite-preloaded horse manure by hydrothermal treatment followed by carbonization using different ratios of iron (III) nitrate and iron oxide as magnetic precursors. The produced MCNF had a very porous structure with specific surface area of 435.31 m2/g and high carbon content. The magnetic characteristics of MCNF promoted by the presence of iron oxide species. The saturated magnetization of MCNF obtained from a 5:5 ratio of the magnetic precursors (iron (III) nitrate: iron oxide) was 2.48 emu/g. Synthesized MCNF was applied as a bio-adsorbent for methylene blue (MB) removal from aqueous solution, with results showing excellent dye adsorption of 92–99 %. MB adsorption was facilitated by pore filling, electrostatic contact, hydrogen bonding, and ion complexation. Experimental results indicated that the Freundlich isotherm and pseudo-second-order kinetic models concurred with the observed MB adsorption data, suggesting that the adsorption mechanism involved multilayered micropore interactions between magnetite and MB chemisorption. The resulting magnetic adsorbent was successfully removed from the aqueous solution by physical separation. Findings indicated that horse manure-derived MCNF could be used as an efficient bio-adsorbent to remove organic contaminants in wastewater. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Optimizing Decolorization Efficiency of Methylene Blue by Photo-Fenton Process over Fe-Diatomite using Central Composite Design(2018-01-01); ;Champa, Varocha ;Kitchaiya, PrakobThe methylene blue was degraded by photo-fenton over Fe-diatomite prepared by dry impregnation method. The characterizations of catalyst were studied by XRD, XRF and BET surface area. The photo-fenton reaction conditions were studied as parameters of the H<inf>2</inf>O<inf>2</inf> concentration, the amount of Fe-diatomite, the initial concentration of methylene blue and the initial pH of solution, which were designed by central composite design (CCD) based on response surface methodology (RSM) to accomplish the optimal condition. The results showed that the optimum condition was at the initial H<inf>2</inf>O<inf>2</inf> concentration of 116 mg/L, the Fe-diatomite of 1 g/L, the initial MB concentration of 200 mg/L and the pH of 5.8. It could predict the decolorization value of 100% and reduce the total organic carbon (TOC) to 72.3%. Finally, the validation was tested in 5 runs at the optimization about 99.2 ± 0.2% which implied that the regression model is in a good agreement.1 - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Fabrication of Anodic Titanium Oxide (ATO) for waste water treatment application(2017-01-01) ;Choksumlitpol, Pimsuree ;Mangkornkarn, Chayangkoon ;Sumtong, Peerawith; In this study, forming of Anodic Titanium Oxide (ATO) that has a nanoporous and nanotube morphology was studied for waste water treatment application. Nanoporous anodic titanium oxide was obtained by anodization, using ethylene glycol merging with ammonium fluoride at room temp as electrolyte. The variables of the process were anodization time (5, 10, 15 and 20 min) and anodization voltages (20, 40 and 60 V). Field emission scanning electron microscopy revealed that separated nanotubes became obvious when the voltage is high. The samples with different ATO conditions were investigated by the degradation of methylene blue under UV light irradiation. It was found that the activity of the photocatalysis of ATO was significantly enhancement of the degradation of methylene blue. These results suggest that ATO/UV photocatalysis as a method for treatment of diluted waste waters in textile industries.
