Item type:Publication, N-doped Porous Carbon from Palm Male Flower via Hydrothermal Carbonization(2020-07-30) ;Verasarut, Panupong ;Liamprawat, Tanatorn ;Kaewtrakulchai, Napat; Panomsuwan, GasiditN-doped porous carbon materials were produced from palm male flower using hydrothermal carbonization processes at 200 C for 24 h followed by N-Doping and carbonization at 700C for 2 h. N-doping was carried out by impregnation using NH4OH at 0.5, 1.0, 1.5 M and 2 M. Products were characterized by means of chemical composition and morphology using SEM, XPS, and XRD to characterize specific properties such as physical morpholog, porosity, elemental composition on surface and crystalline structure of PMF. After applying hydrothermal carbonization processes, the results showed substantially increased porosity and surface area with suitable microstructure for N-doped electrodes applications. The highest porosity was obtained at NPC-1.5 M. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, X-ray characterization, structural analysis, antibacterial activity, and self-cleaning property of Cu-doped TiO2-SiO2 nanocomposite prepared by sonochemical process(2024-12-01); ;Songpanit, Maneerat ;Sanyen, Thanyapa ;Samart, SutichaiTiO<inf>2</inf>-SiO<inf>2</inf> nanocomposites with different copper (Cu) precursor loadings were prepared by a one-step sonochemical process. The mole ratio of Cu precursor in TiO<inf>2</inf>-SiO<inf>2</inf> composite was varied at 0.004, 0.008, 0.020, and 0.040, respectively. The specific X-ray characterization techniques on crystalline structure, chemical composition, and chemical states of Cu-doped TiO<inf>2</inf>-SiO<inf>2</inf> composite were carried out by X-ray diffraction technique (XRD), X-ray fluorescence (XRF), and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), respectively. Surface morphology and chemical bonding of Cu-doped TiO<inf>2</inf>-SiO<inf>2</inf> composite were monitored by field emission scanning electron microscope (FE-SEM) and Fourier transform infrared spectrophotometer (FTIR). For antibacterial properties, the inhibition zone of antimicrobial activity was investigated by varying amounts of Cu precursors in the TiO<inf>2</inf>-SiO<inf>2</inf> composite. After that, Cu-doped TiO<inf>2</inf>-SiO<inf>2</inf> composite powder with different Cu precursor ratios was mixed in PMMA solution and deposited on glass slides to study the optical property and hydrophilicity by UV-VIS-NIR spectrophotometer and contact angle method. XRD patterns of Cu-doped TiO<inf>2</inf>-SiO<inf>2</inf> nanocomposites show the formation of the main TiO<inf>2</inf> anatase phase with the ultrafine particles observed by FE-SEM images. FT-IR spectra of the composites are assigned to the prominent peaks of the Ti-O-Ti and Ti-O-Si bond relating to the TiO<inf>2</inf>-SiO<inf>2</inf> host matrix. Meanwhile, TiO<inf>2</inf>-SiO<inf>2</inf> composites with Cu precursor at 0.004 mol ratio can significantly enhance the antibacterial activity with a large inhibition zone. The contact angle value of Cu-doped TiO<inf>2</inf>-SiO<inf>2</inf> nanocomposite film at 0.040 Cu precursor mole ratio in the TiO<inf>2</inf>-SiO<inf>2</inf> matrix resulted in the optimized composite ratio for achieving a hydrophilic surface on the substrate. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, In vitro plant growth promotion by ZnO nanomaterials in indica rice seedlings (Oryza sativa L.)(2018-01-01); ;Whalley, Anthony J.S.Sutjaritvorakul, ThanawatThis research focuses on zinc oxide nanomaterials (nano-ZnO) applied to agricultural fields. Plants were exposed to nanomaterials and responded differently in tolerance to the various concentrations and types of nanomaterials. Two cultivars (SP1 and SP90) of indica rice (Oryza sativa L.) seedlings were grown at 0-1,000 mg.L-1 nano-ZnO and their morphological and physiological response was determined. Rice seedlings were harvested 5, 7, 10 and 14 days after treatments. Results demonstrated a significant increase in biomass, growth tolerance index (GTI), chlorophyll contents and antioxidant enzyme activities of the treated plant at 100 mg.L-1 nano-ZnO but these parameters decreased with increasing nano-ZnO concentration in the treated plants at 300-1,000 mg.L-1 nano-ZnO when compared to control plants (0 mg.L-1 nano-ZnO). The high accumulations of biomass, GTI and chlorophyll contents were related to production of antioxidant enzyme activities (catalase and peroxidase) in plant cells when plants were exposed to a low dose of nano-ZnO. Further investigations will determine the effect of nano-ZnO on the plant productivity. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Biological synthesis and characterization of lead oxide nanoparticles using Averrhoa bilimbi Linn. aqueous extract(2020-10-26) ;Sutjaritvorakul, ThanawatLead oxide (PbO) is an important semiconductor material, and it can be potentially applied in many industries such as glass, battery and electronic industry. Metal nanoparticles are commonly synthesized by chemical and physical methods. However, these methods require extreme conditions, and thus causing toxic compounds. To overcome these problems, biological method for synthesis has been developed because it is more environmentally-friendly process. The objective of this research was to synthesize and characterize PbO nanoparticles (PbO-NPs) using aqueous fruit extract of Averrhoa bilimbi Linn. The metal nanoparticles were investigated for the morphological characteristics and chemical composition by scanning electron microscope (SEM) equipped with energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS), and were identified by X-ray powder diffraction (XRD) and Fourier transform infrared (FTIR). The XRD pattern and FTIR spectrum substantiated that the metal nanoparticles were lead oxide. It was found that the aqueous fruit extract of A. bilimbi can synthesized PbO-NPs. Therefore, this method can be a promising alternative for low cost and non-polluting production of PbO-NPs. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Green synthesis and optimized annealing tempserature effects on zinc oxide nanoparticles using mango peel extract(2026-01-01); ;Sakulpeeb, Natchayaporn ;Meedech, Woradech; Koetniyom, WantanaThis study presents the green synthesis of zinc oxide nanoparticles (ZnO-NPs) using mango peel extract (MgE) as a natural reducing and stabilizing agent. Phytochemical extraction was performed with deionized water, ethanol, and methanol for 1 h to 5 h, with deionized water at 4 h yielding the highest flavonoid content. Using zinc nitrate as a precursor, 25 mL of MgE successfully facilitated the synthesis of ZnO-NPs (ZnO-25MgE). It was found that annealing temperature at 400°C for 6 h produced pure ZnO. The obtained nanoparticles were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), and field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM). XRD confirmed the crystalline structure with an average size of 6.67 nm, while FT-IR and FE-SEM analyses revealed Zn–O vibrations, residual organics, and nanoscale morphology. Thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) indicated the appropriate annealing temperature for the removal of organics. For comparison, chemically synthesized ZnO was also characterized, and its antibacterial activity was assessed via disc diffusion against Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus. The results demonstrated notable inhibition, highlighting the potential of biosynthesized ZnO-NPs for antimicrobial applications. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, High contents of proline and anthocyanin increase protective response to salinity in Oryza sativa L. spp. indica(2011-09-01); ;Cha-um, SuriyanPigmented rice cultivar is a good candidate for abiotic tolerance especially salt tolerant trait. Physiological and growth parameters of eight indica rice genotypes under control or salt stress conditions were subjected to Hierarchical cluster analysis. From cluster ranking, rice genotypes were classified into two groups, salt-tolerant (Sangyod, Khao Dang, Kulab Dang and TD49) and salt-sensitive genotypes (Klum Sakol, Klum Khonkaen1, Klum Khonkaen2 and Black Sticky Rice). In salt stress (100 mM NaCl), the salt-tolerant genotypes showed the high percentages of proline and anthocyanin more than in the salt-sensitive genotypes. In addition, the photosynthetic pigment stabilizations of stressed-seedlings were positively correlated to the proline (R 2 = 0.98) and anthocyanin (R 2 = 0.70) accumulations. While, the malondialdehyde (MDA) contents of salt-stressed seedlings were negatively correlated to the proline (R 2 = 0.63) and anthocyanin (R 2 = 0.51) accumulations. Moreover, the total antioxidant activity of extraction from stressed-seedlings was assessed using the ABTS (2,2-azino-bis-3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulfonic acid) method. The higher percentages of total antioxidant activity were determined in salt-tolerant (125-199%) than salt-sensitive genotypes (106-113%). From the results it can be concluded that accumulation of above mentioned metabolites is associated with cellular protection and salt detoxification in salinity rice seedlings. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Biodiversity and bioactivity of stromatic xylariales collected from Mu Ko Chang National Park, Thailand(2020-01-01) ;Sutjaritvorakul, T.Ko Chang Island is a tropical rain forest island of Mu Ko Chang national park, Thailand, which has a wide variety of macro-fungi. The objective of this research was to study the biodiversity of Xylariales and to investigate the bioactive activity of ethyl acetate crude extracts. The fungi were collected from the forest area of the waterfalls all over the island. The crude extracts of selected fungi were tested for antibacterial activity by agar well diffusion method and the cancer cell viability was assessed using the MTT assay. Three genera of Xylariaceae and Hypoxylaceae were found including Xylaria, Daldinia and Hypoxylon. The crude extracts inhibited the growth of Gram positive bacteria more than that of Gram negative bacteria and showed broad spectrum inhibition to all cancer cell lines. The crude extract of Xylaria sp.3 showed the highest potential of antibacterial activity and selectively inhibited gastric carcinoma (Kato III) and T cell leukemia (Jurket) with the percentage survival of 26.12 ± 0.90% and 35.37 ± 0.40% respectively. The molecular identification of Xylaria sp.3 was identified as Xylaria sp.TP5BS101. These results show that these macromycetes are an excellent repertoire of antibacterial activity and exhibit anticancer activity against Kato III and Jurket by inducing DNA fragmentation. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings

Item type:Publication, Establishment of condition and nanoparticle factors influencing plant regeneration from aromatic rice (Oryza sativa)(2015-01-01)Improvements on the callus induction and regeneration stages as well as the applications of nanoparticles using aromatic rice cv. KDML105 were investigated in this study. An efficient induction of plant regeneration from mature seeds was found in calli cultured under dark condition and was not transferred to the fresh medium (non-subculture) in each culture stage. Although, the size and biomass factors showed the better performance in calli cultured under light condition than dark but the regeneration frequency rate was lower than dark condition. Between the types and concentrations of nanoparticles applied for the regeneration enhancement. ZnO nanoparticles were found to be toxic, while TiO2 nanoparticles improved the plant regeneration. Optimum concentration (25 mg L-1) of TiO<inf>2</inf> nanoparticles showed the high rate of green spots, plant regeneration and the ratio of the number of seedlings to the number of regenerated calli. Nonetheless, these factors may be valuable to establish an improvement in plant tissue culture system for propagation and/or genetic transformation in aromatic rice. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, The Effect of Polyvinyl Alcohol Addition on the Optical Properties and Oxygen Detection Performance of Titanium Dioxide and Methylene Blue Nanocomposite Colorimetric Indicators(2024-05-01); ;Rattan, Praphaporn ;Songpanit, Maneerat; Okumura, HideyukiIn this study, we investigated the impact of polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) incorporation on the optical properties and oxygen detection performance of a titanium dioxide/methylene blue (TiO<inf>2</inf>/MB) nanocomposite colorimetric indicator for packaging applications. The nanocomposite was synthesized via mechanical milling of TiO<inf>2</inf> nanoparticles with MB and citric acid. PVA, at varying concentrations (0, 3, 9, and 14 wt%), was introduced during the wet milling process to produce a homogeneous composite film. Spin coating was employed to fabricate TiO<inf>2</inf>/MB nanocomposite films for oxygen detection evaluation. The influence of PVA loading on the films’ chemical functionalities and surface morphologies was assessed using Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and field-emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM). The indicator’s activation process, involving a color change between bleached and colored states, and its recovery time were monitored via optical imaging and UV-VIS-NIR spectrophotometry. The results revealed that a PVA content of 9 wt% yielded well-defined films with enhanced stability of the TiO<inf>2</inf>/MB nanocomposite’s oxygen detection performance.
