Item type:Publication, NiO-YSZ anode composite material derived from mechano-chemical for solid oxide fuel cells application(2025-06-01) ;Srisuwan, Thanakorn ;Puengjinda, Pramote ;Kaewtrakulchai, Napat ;Chanpee, SirayuJadsadajerm, SupachaiThis study investigates the effects of calcination time, milling duration, and sintering temperature on the properties of Nickel oxide and Yttria-stabilized zirconia (NiO-YSZ) anode composite materials for solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) applications. NiO nanoparticles were synthesized from nickel (II) sulfate (Ni(II)SO<inf>4</inf>), with X-ray diffraction (XRD) confirming a face-centered cubic (FCC) structure. The crystallite size (21 nm) was achieved after 8 hours of calcination, while prolonged durations caused particle agglomeration. Ball-milling for 12 hours produced comparatively fine particles with an average of 706 nm, though extended milling led to grain growth and aggregation. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) revealed nano aggregation. Sintering at 1200 °C improved the densification of the NiO-YSZ layer while increasing its porosity, which enhanced the reduction of NiO to metallic nickel (Ni). Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy (EIS) demonstrated lower impedance and improved electrochemical performance for cells cold-sintered at 1200 °C. These findings show the importance of optimizing processing conditions to enhance the performance of NiO-YSZ anode for SOFCs, offering valuable insights for advanced energy conversion technologies. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Effect of sputtering power on optical properties of nickel oxide electrochromic thin films(2020-01-01) ;Panprom, P. ;Sritonwong, P. ;Limwichian, S. ;Eiamchai, P.Patthanasettakul, V.The preparation and characterization of nickel oxide (NiO) thin film for electrochromic smart window applications are studied. The NiO thin film was prepared by the DC magnetron sputtering from a pure nickel target. The sputtering power was varies in the interval 50–200 W. The crystallinity and physical morphology of NiO films are characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM), respectively. The XRD result revealed that polycrystalline NiO thin films with preferred growth directions along (111) and (200) planes are obtained. Moreover, the electrochromic property of NiO thin films was investigated with a UV-Visible spectrophotometer. The colored state of the electrochromic cell was obtained by the ion insertion at the 1-V external applied bias in 0.1 M KOH. The reversibility between the colored and bleached states is confirmed by the optical transmittance. The result shows the optical contrast as high as 28.68. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Effects of Zn-dopant on structural properties and electrochromic performance of sol-gel derived NiO thin films(2015-06-01) ;Noonuruk, Russameeruk; Zn-doped NiO thin films were prepared by sol-gel spin-coating method onto transparent conducting substrates using nickel acetate tetrahydrate and zinc acetate dehydrate as starting precursors. Effects of zinc doping content on the structural, optical and electrochromic properties of NiO films were investigated by X-ray diffraction, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, field emission-scanning electron microscope, atomic force microscopy, UV-VIS spectrophotometer and cyclic voltammetry. The results reveal that Zn doping has significant influence on crystallinity deterioration, surface topography alternation and electrochromic performance of the films. The expansion of active surface area due to reduced crystallinity of the films resulting to the increase of charge transfer in the electrochemical reaction. It is indicated that electrochromic performance of sol-gel derived NiO films can be ameliorated by the incorporation of Zn additive at specific content. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Characterization and ozone-induced coloration of Zn xNi 1 - XO thin films prepared by sol-gel method(2012-01-31) ;Noonuruk, R. ;Techitdheera, W.Zn <inf>x</inf>Ni <inf>1 - x</inf>O thin films were prepared by sol-gel spin coating method onto glass substrates in combination with annealing process. Effect of zinc content on the structural, optical and ozone-induced coloration properties of as-prepared films was investigated by X-ray diffraction, field emission-scanning electron microscope, atomic force microscopy and UV-VIS spectrophotometer, respectively. X-ray diffraction results reveal that the structures of all films are still cubic NiO structure. Average grain size of Zn <inf>x</inf>Ni <inf>1 - x</inf>O film increases with increasing annealing temperature and its crystallization is strongly affected by Zn content. Coloration of the films was obtained after UV/ozone exposure due to a presence of ozone-induced hydroxyl groups. Significant enhancement of coloration efficiency of the films is achieved as content of Zn increases. © 2011 Elsevier B.V. Item type:Publication, Ozone-induced optical density change of NiO thin films and their applicability as neutral optical density filter(2011-05-02) ;Noonuruk, R. ;Wongpisutpaisan, N. ;Mukdacharoenchai, P. ;Techitdheera, W.Nickel oxide (NiO) thin films were deposited onto glass substrates by sol-gel spin-coating technique. The coating solution was prepared by reacting nickel acetate tetrahydrate as precursor and absolute ethanol as solvent. The asdeposited films were annealed in air at 350oC. The color of the film can be changed from bleach color to be dark brownish after UV/ozone treatment. The change in optical density of more than 40% can be achieved after 5 min of treatment. The colored films can be readily recovered by thermal treatment at 150°C within 30 min. Further increasing ozone exposure time leads to greater change in optical density. The presence of ozone-induced hydroxyl groups causes the color change of the films. The unique behavior of this chromic material can be applied as novel tunable neutral optical density filters and related devices by ozone-assisted method.
