    Ophiocordyceps asiana and Ophiocordyceps tessaratomidarum (Ophiocordycipitaceae, Hypocreales), two new species on stink bugs from Thailand

    Two new Ophiocordyceps species from Thailand, which belong to Ophiocordyceps nutans species complex and attack adult and nymph of stink bugs, are described: Ophiocordyceps asiana and O. tessaratomidarum. Molecular phylogenetic analyses of ITS and a combined sequence data of LSU, RPB1 and TEF1 revealed that these two new species are distinct from other known species in Ophiocordyceps nutans species complex. Based on the findings on morphological studies, they further support the naming of these two novel species. Ophiocordyceps asiana is parasitic on adult and nymph stink bugs, members of Coreidae and Pentatomidae which were recorded from China, Japan and Thailand, while O. tessaratomidarum is reported from Thailand for the first time and is only found as a parasite on adult stink bug, Tessaratoma papillosa (Tessaratomidae, Hemiptera). The fertile heads of O. asiana are shorter than reported for O. tessaratomidarum, and the colours of fertile heads producing teleomorph of these two species differs from each other by having strong reddish orange or light yellowish pink in O. asiana and pale yellow in O. tessaratomidarum.

    New lichen species from Thailand, new combinations and new additions to the Thai lichen biota

    Several collecting trips by the authors (alone or together) over the last ten years in twenty-one provinces of Thailand afforded new additions to the most recent Thai lichen checklist. These are from seven families with an emphasis on the Graphidaceae reflecting the current interest of the authors. Two species are described as new to science: Platygramme subcolubrosa which differs from P. colubrosa in having non-pruinose labia and discs and smaller, less-septate ascospores and Ramonia minima, which differs from R. kandleri in having smaller ascomata, a lower hymenium and a partly brown to blackish exciple. Constrictolumina leucostoma is a new finding for the Palaeotropics and the genera Pseudotopeliopsis, Ramonia and Sclerophyton are new reports for Thailand. New records of Thai species of Hemithecium are transferred to Allographa and Graphis. This necessitated the following new combinations: Allographa stictilabiata (≡ Graphina stictilabiata), Graphis aphaneomicrospora (≡ Hemithecium aphaneomicrosporum), G. balaghatensis (≡ Hemithecium balaghatense) and Graphis indica (a new name for Hemithecium norsticticum). A further new combination includes Traponora varians (≡ Lecidea varians). Acanthothecis consocians, Caloplaca bassiae, Chapsa pulchra, Leucodecton occultum, Phaeographopsis palaeotropica, Platygramme australiensis, P. commutabilis, P. discurrens, Sclerophyton seriale, Psudotopeliopsis longisporum, Traponora macrospora and Trinathotrema stictideum are further new additions to the Thai lichen biota. Working keys are presented to all known species of Phaeographopsis and Trinathotrema and to the Thai species of Platygramme.

    A new checklist of lichenized fungi occurring in Thailand

    A new revised checklist of lichenized fungi in Thailand is presented, including 1,292 species. Recent work on the taxonomy of these organisms in Thailand resulted in an enormous increase in our knowledge of the lichen biota of the country - the current checklist includes more than twice as many species as the previous catalogue published 15 years ago - and phylogenetic studies resulted in numerous changes in the generic classification of lichenized fungi. Hence, a new checklist is here presented summarizing the current knowledge of lichens in Thailand. Six new records are reported, viz. Acanthothecis salazinica, Bactrospora metabola, Buellia parastata, Diploschistes cinereocaesius, Rolfidium coccocarpioides, and Trapelia placodioides. Five previously recorded species, namely Lecanora carpinea, Platismatia glauca, P. lacunosa, P. tuckermanii and Roccella phycopsis are shown to be based on misidentifications and are excluded from the checklist. Three new combinations of species previously placed in Pertusaria to Lepra are proposed: L. bulolensis (A.W.Archer, Elix & Streimann) Schmitt & Lumbsch, L. patellifera (A.W.Archer) Schmitt & Lumbsch, and L. subventosa (Malme) Schmitt & Lumbsch.

    Lauriomyces, a New Lineage in the Leotiomycetes with Three New Species

    Lauriomyces is an anamorphic genus comprising nine species, found growing on terrestrial leaf litter and wood in tropical habitats. The genus is characterized by solitary or synnematous, pigmented conidiophores bearing acropetal chains of unicellular, hyaline conidia.Amultigene (SSU, LSU & 5.8S) analysis of Lauriomyces strains reveal three cryptic new species, which are described, illustrated, and published here: L. acerosus, L. basitruncatus, and L. glumateus spp. nov. Lauriomyces glumateus is characterized by narrowly oval conidia while conidia of L. acerosus are cylindrical with acute ends and those of L. basitruncatus are cylindrical with truncate base. The nine Lauriomyces species sampled form a monophyletic clade in the Leotiomycetes, with high molecular support and all with a morphology typical for the genus. The new combination Dematioscypha catenata is made for Haplographium catenatum in compliance with the one name protocol.

    New Coenogonium species (Ostropales: Coenogoniaceae) from Thailand, new reports and a revised key to the species occurring in the country

    A revision of 159 Coenogonium collections from Thailand preserved in RAMK, herb. K. Kalb and herb. K. & J. Kalb is presented. 18 species (including 1 doubtful) could be delimited, three of which are described as new to science, namely C. convexum which differs from the similar C. nepalense by smaller and convex apothecia already at a very early stage of development, C. subborinquense which has larger apothecia (almost double the size) than the similar C. borinquense and C. verrucimarginatum which differs from C. coronatum by having denticulate-verrucose margins of the apothecia. Coenogonium barbatum, C. epiphyllum, C. frederici, C. leprieurii and C. queenslandicum are new additions to the Thai lichen biota. C. disciforme is synonymized with C. isidiiferum. The peculiar vegetative propagules in this species, hitherto named isidia, are described as thallodiscs. Photographs showing the habitus of the species as well as characteristic structures are given and a dichotomous key for the identification of all species is provided.

    The genus Inocybe (Inocybaceae, Agaricales, Basidiomycota) in Thailand and Malaysia

    Twenty-five species of Inocybaceae are reported from Thailand and Malaysia. Thirteen are described as new from four different major clades of the family: I. errata from the Mallocybe clade, I. bicolorata and I. proxima from the Inosperma clade, I. neglecta from the Pseudosperma clade, and I. brevisquamulosa, I. fragilissima, I. latibulosa, I. lineata, I. ornata, I. parvibulbosa, I. pileosulcata, I stellata and I. thailandica from Inocybe sensu stricto. Nineteen species are documented in full, circumscribed by morphological and molecular (ITS and nLSU sequences) features. Six additional lineages are depicted in a molecular phylogenetic context but at present lack sufficient morphological data for complete description. Illustrations of anatomical features, photographs of basidiomes, and SEM images of basidiospores are presented. A key to 19 species of Inocybaceae from Thailand and Malaysia is provided.

    New porcini (Boletus sect. Boletus) from Australia and Thailand

    Boletus albobrunnescens and B. austroedulis are described as new species in section Boletus from Thailand and Australia respectively. The former is easily characterized by the pure white basidiomata that stain brown. Boletus austroedulis has a graybrown, slightly rugulose pileus with hymeniform pileipellis producing pileocystidia, and the stipe is only apically reticulate if at all. These new species represent ancient lineages inferred from prior molecular phylogenetic analyses. © 2014 by The Mycological Society of America.

    The phylogeny of selected Phylloporus species, inferred from NUC-LSU and ITS sequences, and descriptions of new species from the Old World

    The phylogeny of Phylloporus (Boletaceae) has not been well studied, and the taxonomic relationships of this genus have varied considerably among authors. The following study presents phylogenetic relationships of Phylloporus based on two nuclear ribosomal DNA regions, ITS and LSU. The ITS dataset includes 39 collections and the LSU dataset contains 50 collections of Phylloporus. A combined analysis of both genes did not resolve the deeper nodes in the phylogeny, but the results suggest that Phylloporus is monophyletic and a sister group of the Xerocomus subtomentosus group. The lamellate hymenophore configuration is a synapomorphy that distinguishes Phylloporus from the other genera in the family. The placement of a lamellate genus within Boletaceae suggests that hymenophore evolution is not well understood in the family. This is the first phylogeny of Phylloporus and includes 20 species from different geographic regions. Six taxa of Phylloporus from the Old World are here presented. Phylloporus cyanescens is a new combination for an Australasian taxon formerly named as a variety of P. bellus (Massee) Corner. Phylloporus pumilus is described from Indonesia, and 4 species are described from Thailand: P. castanopsidis, P. dimorphus, P. infuscatus, and P. rubiginosus. © The Mushroom Research Foundation 2012.

    Agaricus flocculosipes sp. nov., a new potentially cultivatable species from the palaeotropics

    Agaricus flocculosipes is described as new from northern Thailand and Mayotte based on morphology and ITS sequence analysis. The new species is compared with similar taxa, and a comprehensive description, line drawings, and colored photographs are provided. Agaricus flocculosipes is distinguished among the species in section Arvenses by its relatively large sporocarps (110-180 mm in diameter), erect floccose squamules on the surface of the stipe, and relatively small basidiospores (less than 6.5 μm long). Phylogenetic analyses based on ITS sequence data using maximum likelihood, parsimony, and Bayesian analyses all support A. flocculosipes as being a distinct species within section Arvenses. The new taxon is potentially cultivatable as it is presumably heterothallic, exhibits extensive genetic diversity, and occurs in section Arvenses, a lineage that contains other edible cultivatable taxa such as Agaricus arvensis and Agaricus subrufescens. © 2012 The Mycological Society of Japan and Springer.

    Two species of Agaricus sect. Xanthodermatei from Thailand

    Agaricus murinocephalus is described and illustrated as a new species. This taxon, presently known only from Thailand, is characterized by a context that generally does not discolor on exposure, the lack of a phenolic odor, a cap covered by very fine, appressed, dark grey squamules outside the grey disc on a whitish background, and a broken collar-like annulus. Agaricus endoxanthus, previously reported from South America, Europe, and Asia, is recorded for the first time in Thailand. Morphological and published molecular analyses place both taxa in A. sect.
