Item type:Publication, ZnO Nanoparticles Synthesis and Characterization by Hydrothermal Process for Biological Applications(2023-05-01) ;Wirunchit, SupamasKoetniyom, WantanaThis research is interested in the development of zinc oxide (ZnO) nanoparticle synthesis by hydrothermal precipitation solutions for biological applications. The synthesis of ZnO nanoparticles study from zinc nitrate (Zn(NO<inf>3</inf>)<inf>2</inf>) precursor under the three precipitator solutions consists of potassium hydroxide (KOH), sodium hydroxide (NaOH), and ammonium hydroxide (NH<inf>4</inf>OH), respectively. The synthesis of ZnO nanoparticles is investigated using the following techniques: X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), and Raman spectroscopy techniques. The structure and size of the ZnO nanoparticles are analyzed by using a field emission scanning electron microscope (FE-SEM), and finally, the antibacterial efficacy of the ZnO nanoparticles is studied. The hydrothermal synthesis condition realizes that the smallest ZnO nanoparticles come from the zinc nitrate (Zn(NO<inf>3</inf>)<inf>2</inf>) precursor reacted with sodium hydroxide (NaOH) precipitator at 120 °C for 4 h. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Growth Responses and Regression Analysis of Zinc Oxide Nanoparticles in Indica Rice (Oryza sativa L.)(2022-01-01) ;Sutjaritvorakul, Thanawat ;Koomsubsiri, Amorn ;Sridam, Idhisak ;Meksiriporn, BunyaritChutipaijit, SuteeThe use of metal nanomaterials to promote plant growth and inhibit plant pathogenic microorganisms is gaining interest. In this study, zinc oxide nanoparticles (ZnONPs) were evaluated for effects on growth and productivity of indica rice plants (Oryza sativa L.). The rice plant was exposed to ZnONPs with different concentrations i. e. 0, 200, 600 and 800 mg/l. The plant height, weight and the number of panicles per clump were investigated. The result showed that 200 mg/l of ZnONPs induced the highest enhancement of plant height, weight and the number of panicles per clump with a significant difference compared to other groups. The mathematical model of the height, weight and the number of panicles per clump was analyzed by linear regression, and the determination coefficient (R2) of the linear regression model was 0.86, 0.84 and 0.52, respectively. This linear regression model could be potentially extended to the indica rice plant cultivation process in practical applications to predict the rice plant growth and productivity in commercial cultivation. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Impressive Response of Spin-Coated ZnO Nanoparticle UV-Sensitive Devices with Various Thicknesses under Different UV Intensities(2021-09-01) ;Pawong, WhongsatornWasapinyokul, KamolWe fabricated ultraviolet (UV) detectors based on spin-coated pure zinc oxide (ZnO) nanoparticles with a metal–semiconductor–metal configuration. Devices with various ZnO layer thicknesses were characterized under different UV intensities, and their responsivity, sensitivity, response time, and recovery time analyzed. The following performance was achieved: responsivity of 99.8 A W−1, sensitivity of 531.1, and response and recovery times of 0.01 s and 0.07 s, respectively. Increasing the thickness revealed monotonic effects on each property: the responsivity decreased, the sensitivity decreased, and the response and recovery times increased, mainly because of the thin penetration depth of ZnO and the lengthened cracks on the thicker layer. However, the effects of the UV intensity on the parameters were not monotonic. Indeed, as the intensity was increased, the responsivity decreased, the sensitivity first increased then decreased, the response time first increased before shortening, while the recovery time consistently shortened. Such trends resulted from the combination of several mechanisms: shrinkage of depletion layers, saturation of excitons, and saturation of trapping states. Increasing the radiation-on time shortened both the response and recovery times. This device performance is impressive compared with devices with more complicated material formats, device structure, or fabrication methods. Some complications in the work are also discussed. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, The decoration of ZnO nanoparticles by gamma aminobutyric acid, curcumin derivative and silver nanoparticles: Synthesis, characterization and antibacterial evaluation(2021-02-01) ;Talodthaisong, Chanon ;Plaeyao, Kittiya ;Mongseetong, Chatariga ;Boonta, WissutaSrichaiyapol, OraneeZinc oxide nanoparticles (ZnO NPs) are applied in various applications in catalysis, bio-sensing, imaging, and as antibacterial agents. Here we to prepare ZnO nanomaterials decorated by γ-amino butyric acid (GABA), curcumin derivatives (CurBF2) and silver nanoparticles (CurBF2-AgNPs). The structures of all ZnO nanostructures were characterized using Fourier transform in-frared (FT-IR) spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction (XRD), UV–VIS spectrophotometry, fluorescence spectrophotometry, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), and high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HR-TEM). Further, their antibacterial activities against Gram-negative (Escherichia coli) and Gram-positive (Staphylococcus aureus) bacteria were investigated through analysis of minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) method. Among the prepared nanostructures, the ZnO NPs-GABA/CurBF2-AgNPs showed excellent antibacterial activity against both Gram-positive and-negative bacteria. ZnO NPs fabricated here may have potential use in future anti-bacterial compositions and coatings technologies. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings

Item type:Publication, Property improvement of antibacterial wound dressing from basil seed (O. basilicum L.) mucilage- ZnO nanocomposite by borax crosslinking(2020-01-01) ;Tantiwatcharothai, SiripornPrachayawarakorn, JutaratSome applications, in particular, wound dressings, require significant water holding capability: hydrogels formed from Basil seed mucilage (BSM) are non-toxic natural substances and exhibit the needed water holding capacity. However, the sponges have low dimensional stability and easily degrade in aqueous media. We overcame this drawback by crosslinking with borax. To provide antibacterial activity, zinc oxide nanoparticles (ZnO-NP) were added. With 10–20 wt% added borax and ZnO-NP, all key properties improved: dimensional stability, water retention capacity (31 to 41%), stress at maximum load (2.6 to 6.6 MPa), Young's modulus (74 to 113 MPa) and strain (28 to 54%). An interconnecting system of pores with well distributed ZnO-NP was observed from scanning electron microscope. In addition, higher borax and ZnO-NP loadings slightly decreased porosity (92% to 73%) and swelling (109 to 56). Moreover, antibacterial activity and cytotoxicity of BSM hydrogel sponge were also examined. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, ZNO AND TIO2 nanoparticles stimulate callus induction and secondary metabolite production in indica RICE(2020-01-01) ;Chutipaijit, SuteeSutjaritvorakul, ThanawatMetal nanoparticles are widely used in various fields of industry and their impact in the agricultural field is increasing. This research was carried out to investigate the effects of ZnO and TiO<inf>2</inf> nanoparticles on callus induction and plant metabolism in indica rice. Indica rice was assessed in plant tissue culture condition to estimate the influence of metal nanoparticles on morphological and physiological factors over 4 weeks. The seeds of Oryza sativa L. var. KDML105 were exposed to 1-3 mg L-1 of 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid (2,4-D) in the callus induction medium. The induced-calli were cultured on the callus induction medium supplemented with 2 mg L-1 of 2,4-D and showed a high increase in size and dry weight contents under the light condition when compared with the control and other treatments. Moreover, this research also investigated the potential impacts of ZnO and TiO<inf>2</inf> nanoparticles at 200, 400 and 800 mg L-1 on morphological and metabolic responses of the induced-calli cultured on the callus induction medium supplemented with 2,4-D and each type of metal nanoparticles. At 4 weeks after treatment, the induced-calli were analyzed for plant growth and assays on aspects of their metabolism were undertaken. The induced-calli exposed to 200 mg L-1 of ZnO or TiO<inf>2</inf> nanoparticles were found to have significant increase of biomass (size and dry weight of callus), total phenolic compounds and total flavonoid contents in KDML105 variety. The results demonstrated that utilization of ZnO and TiO<inf>2</inf> nanoparticles at appropriate concentration could positively induce the production of beneficial secondary metabolites in the induced-calli of indica rice and are worthy of further study for applications in other plant species. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Characterization of an antibacterial wound dressing from basil seed (Ocimum basilicum L.) mucilage-ZnO nanocomposite(2019-08-15) ;Tantiwatcharothai, SiripornPrachayawarakorn, JutaratThe large water holding capacity of Basil Seed (Ocimum basilicum L.) Mucilage (BSM) gives it potential to produce a valuable polymer for water holding applications such as wound dressing. The objective of this research was to prepare a natural-based antibacterial wound dressing from BSM by freeze-drying. Various contents of zinc oxide nanoparticles (ZnO-NP) were incorporated as an antibacterial agent. BSM hydrogel sponge showed considerable porosity and degree of swelling. From FTIR analysis, hydrogen bond and electrostatic interaction between BSM molecules and ZnO-NP were confirmed. SEM images revealed an interconnecting open-cell structure of pores in the BSM hydrogel sponge with a good distribution of ZnO-NP. Moreover, increase in ZnO-NP content improved the mechanical properties (stress at maximum load 8.9 MPa, Young's modulus 151 MPa and strain at maximum load 51%), thermal properties, water retention capacity and antibacterial activity. Cytotoxicity and cell adhesion studies of BSM hydrogel sponge indicated non-cytotoxicity and non-adherent nature of the sponge. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Growth of pigmented rice (Oryza sativa L. Cv. Riceberry) exposed to ZnO nanoparticles(2019-01-01) ;Samart, SutichaiChutipaijit, SuteeExposure of plants to nanomaterials has been evaluated to the positive and negative effects on crop growth, metabolism, and productivity. In this research, application of zinc oxide (ZnO) nanoparticles was studied in pigmented rice (Oryza sativa L. cv. Riceberry). Riceberry plants were grown and irrigated for 60 days. After that, Riceberry plants were exposed to ZnO nanoparticles by treating them with 0, 200, 400 or 800 mg L-1 of ZnO nanoparticles. The plant heights, plant weights, numbers of panicles/clump, photosynthetic pigment contents, and antioxidant enzyme activities were determined. Results showed that 200 mg L-1 of ZnO nanoparticles induced the high enhancement of plant heights, plant weights, numbers of panicles/clump, total photosynthetic pigment contents, and antioxidant enzyme activities as compared to 400 mg L-1, 800 mg L-1 of ZnO nanoparticles and the control (0 mg L-1 of ZnO nanoparticles) treatments. Moreover, the contents of anthocyanin accumulation in the rice seeds exposed to ZnO nanoparticles were measured. The seeds of Riceberry plants exposed to 200 mg L-1 of ZnO nanoparticles exhibited higher the accumulation of anthocyanin contents than other treatments (0, 400 and 800 mg L-1 of ZnO nanoparticles). It was observed that the appropriation of ZnO nanoparticle concentrations may play a role in enhanced the plant growth, productivity and metabolite of Riceberry plants. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Application of nanomaterials in plant regeneration of rice (Oryza sativa L.)(2017-01-01) ;Chutipaijit, SuteeSutjaritvorakul, ThanawatIn recent years, the application of nanomaterials has been investigated by various studies, especially in their biological and agricultural features. This research aimed to evaluate the influence of zinc oxide (ZnO) and titanium dioxide (TiO<inf>2</inf>) nanoparticles on the quality of the plant regeneration in rice (Oryza sativa L. cv. RD49). Mature seed explants were used for callus induction and plant regeneration cultured on the medium supplemented with different concentrations of ZnO or TiO<inf>2</inf> nanoparticles. The high percentage of the callus induction was achieved on the medium supplemented with 5 mg.L-1 ZnO nanoparticles or 20 mg.L-1 TiO<inf>2</inf> nanoparticles when compared with control treatment (without nanoparticles). Various concentrations of TiO<inf>2</inf> nanoparticles were also found to increase the percentage of the plant regeneration more than ZnO nanoparticles. The highest percentage of plant regeneration was observed on the medium containing the concentration of 20 mg.L-1 TiO<inf>2</inf> nanoparticles. The in vitro rooting of regenerated shoots was hardened and successfully transplanted to the field after 30 days of transplantation. The results suggested that ZnO and TiO<inf>2</inf> nanomaterials may have potential applications in the in vitro plant regeneration.
