M.The strong participation of the local farmers/fishers on the indigenous practices in the community is a manifestation on the inclusion of cultural beliefs and people's lifestyle and livelihood. The involvement of the local people in enhancing the production and marketing of the indigenous serrated mud crab fattening (ISMCF) practices in La-ngu District, Satun Province was studiued. It utilized qualitative methodology using key informant interviews, observations and cases analysis on the different activities of the farmers-fishers on the (ISMCF) practice over a period of six months. Results showed that utilizing the ISMCF practice starts with the protection and management of the natural vegetation of the mangrove area, adherence of the local cultural practices, increase in the level of awareness and utilization of the ISMCF practice based on local wisdom and marketing of the produce using local materials to increase income and improve the lives of the local people. Strong participation in the dissemination and application of the indigenous fattening practices were observed from the locals. However, there is a declining interest among the youth to engage in the practice. The local people has a strong and well-defined attachment to the indigenous serrated mud crab fattening practices because of cultural beliefs and practices. It supports the daily activities and provides an alternative livelihood for the farmers/fishers engaged as a community effort in making the practice a part of a productive living. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Chilling injury alleviation and quality maintenance of lemon basil by preharvest salicylic acid treatment(2015-01-01); ; Wongsuwan, PratumtipThe purpose of this study was to alleviate chilling injury (CI) of lemon basil during storage by using preharvest salicylic acid (SA) treatment. The basil was sprayed with SA at the concentration of 0, 1, 5 or 10 mM before harvesting 24 h and was then stored at 7 °C for 4 days. Weight loss, CI score, malondialdehyde (MDA) content, electrolyte leakage (EL), superficial colour, pigments and bioactive compounds were determined. SA treatments alleviated CI and reduced the increase in EL and MDA content which the best result alleviating CI was 5 mM SA. The greenness and total chlorophyll content were maintained by SA application. After 24 h of treatment, antioxidants, total phenols and flavonoids were enhanced. During storage, SA treatment reduced the loss of bioactive compounds in the lemon basil. In conclusion, preharvest SA treatment at 5 mM alleviated CI and maintained quality of lemon basil during cold storage. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, School agricultural learning center for sustainable agricultural learning(2019-01-01) ;Saduak, Wattana; ; Deeying, SatapornThe purpose of this study was to compare the learning achievements and skills in agricultural practices between students who learned through the School Agricultural Learning Center (SALC) and those who learned in the normal classroom. Participants were 150 Thai high school students in grade 12 recruited by purposive sampling. The study included three steps: 1) Investigation of basic data for developing the SALC, 2) Establishment and development of the SALC, and 3) Use of the SALC for learning: Facebook and Line were employed as the channels for knowledge exchange, communication on learning activities holding and activities transfer. A posttest-only control group design was employed. The results revealed that the students who learned through the SALC exhibited significantly (p < 0.01) higher learning achievements and skills in agricultural practices than those who learned in the normal classroom. Our findings suggest that the SALC is pivotal for improving the students' learning achievements and skills in agriculture and should be promoted to become a natural part of sustainable agriculture education. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings

There is a transfer of knowledge and dissemination among the people of the community on the basis of an agricultural society that is self-reliant. Item type:Publication, Effect of IBA and NAA on rooting and axillary shoot outgrowth of 'Himalayan' mulberry stem cutting(2018-12-01) ;Sokhuma, P.; The effect of 4 different concentrations (500, 1000, 2000 and 3000 ppm) of Indole-3-Butyric Acid (IBA) and Naphthalene Acetic Acid (NAA) to root and shoot of 'Himalayan' mulberry stem cutting were studied. The result showed that after 40 days of cuttings, 3000 ppm of IBA was the best result of concentration showing 3000 ppm of IBA was 93.33 percent survival rate, 86.67 percent of rooting, 18.8 roots, 10.82 centimeters of root length, 93.33 percent of axillary shoot outgrowth, and 13.11 centimeters of axillary shoot length, 5.79 leaves, 5.1 centimeters of leaf width, and 6.84 centimeters of leaf length. Therefore, IBA 3000 ppm is suitable to use in “Himalayan” mulberry propagation by stem cutting. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Creation of a knowledge management process in broiler production of Thailand(2019-01-01) ;Injana, W.; ; The Delphi technique is employed in this study to find an appropriate process of knowledge management in broiler production of Thailand. It is a specific agricultural knowledge management, which is different from other types of knowledge that are mostly accumulated knowledge gained from practice and problem solving. Different factors based on current situation are used to select an appropriate process with tacit knowledge management. It can aid problem solving in practice as the explicit knowledge can be transferred and connected to a method of cause analysis and thus address challenges related to broiler production. This helps develop the production system and knowledge transfer to benefit a new generation of animal husbandry practitioners. Results of the study show that the creation of the knowledge management process in broiler production involved seven steps: knowledge indication, knowledge creation and acquisition, knowledge codification and refinement, systematic knowledge management, knowledge access knowledge sharing, and learning process. A very high level ofconsistency in the value of opinions of specialists on knowledge management was found. Specific knowledge must be kept to construct innovative ideas for broiler production and development. This is to ensure safe food production and food security support, which results in sustainable production of safe meat.
