Item type:Publication, Efficient parallel architecture for implementation of the CMA adaptive antenna(2013-07-01) ;Boonpoonga, Akkarat; This paper presents an efficient parallel architecture for implementation of a constant modulus algorithm (CMA) adaptive array antenna. By inserting delay units into the original CMA, a novel delayed CMA (DCMA) that can significantly reduce the associated critical path is derived. Consequently, a pipelining architecture that supports parallel processing is introduced for implementation of the DCMA. In addition to the pipelining technique, a power-of-two multiplier is proposed for the DCMA leading to the efficient FPGA implementation. The effects of delays and finite word-length on the convergence property of CMA are investigated via simulations. Moreover, the synthesized results demonstrate that FPGA implementation of the proposed architecture using power-of-two arithmetic achieves 26.9% resource reduction in comparison with that of fixed-point arithmetic and operating clock frequency higher than 65 MHz. The implemented FPGA was tested to confirm that the designed architecture operates well for CMA. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings

A matrix pencil method is utilized to extract poles from the late-Time portion of the scattering transient response of the object. Simulations are conducted to evaluate the effect of soil perturbation on these poles. Simulation results shows the perturbation of soil, especially in term of dielectric constant and object depth, have a strong effect on poles. Item type:Publication, Adaptive array antenna using on-off and CMA algorithms for microwave RFID readers(2011-01-01) ;Tantisopharak, Tanawut ;Boonpoonga, Akkarat; ; This paper proposes an adaptive antenna using a combination of on-off and CMA algorithms. With the proposed technique, the on-off algorithm is first employed to search for a desired signal direction in which maximum received power is achieved. Then, interference is suppressed by performing CMA. Simulations are conducted according to the potential application of the proposed adaptive antenna. The simulation results show the SINR improvement implying that the proposed adaptive antenna can be applied to microwave RFID systems in order to resolve reader collision. Furthermore, the proposed adaptive antenna is implemented and then experimented. The experimental results verify that the proposed adaptive antenna can reduce interference resulting in the collision problem. In the proposed system, NCLS optimization is utilized to estimate DOA of incoming signal first. The estimated DOA is then assisted for initial processing of D3LS in beamforming. Item type:Publication, A novel fuzzy logic control technique tuned by particle swarm optimization for maximum power point tracking for a photovoltaic system using a current-mode boost converter with bifurcation control(2010-04-01) ;Khaehintung, Noppadol; This paper presents a novel fuzzy logic control technique tuned by particle swarm optimization (PSO-FLC) for maximum power point tracking (MPPT) for a photovoltaic (PV) system. The proposed PV system composes of a current-mode boost converter (CMBC) with bifurcation control. An optimal slope compensation technique is used in the CMBC to keep the system adequately remote from the first bifurcation point in spite of nonlinear characteristics and instabilities of this converter. The proposed PSO technique allows easy and more accurate tuning of FLC compared with the trialand-error based tuning. Consequently, the proposed PSO-FLC method provides faster tracking of maximum power point (MPP) under varying light intensities and temperature conditions. The proposed MPPT technique is simple and particularly suitable for PV system equipped with CMBC Experimental results are shown to confirm superiority of the proposed technique comparing with the conventional PVVC technique and the trial-and-error based tuning FLC. © ICROS, KIEE and Springer 2010. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Leaf Sensor for Stomata Transpiration Monitoring Using Temperature and Humidity(2018-07-02) ;Pipitsunthonsan, Pronthep ;Sopharat, Jessada; Chongcheawchamnan, MitchaiThis paper presents a leaf sensor which was designed for stomatal transpiration detection. The sensor consists of a thermocouple, a humidity sensor and a programmed microcontroller. The thermocouple measures temperature difference between the leaf and its surrounding atmosphere while relative humidity of the atmosphere was recorded. The sensor design was verified with the standard tool and the image of stomata captured with a high-gain camera lens. From the experimental results, data collected from the developed sensor indicates the stomatal status. Item type:Publication, IoT-based Versatile Platform for Precision Farming(2018-12-24); This paper presents the use of IoT (Internet of Things) in agriculture such as smart or precision farming. The versatile controller is developed to monitor and control temperature and relative humidity in different ways to serve different types of use. Control methods including timer, hysteresis control, condition control, can be arranged in different sequences and periods of time. Eight multifunction output ports are available for actuators or loads. Results from real implementation are shown. Temperature and humidity in a greenhouse can be controlled in predefined ranges to suit with planting processes. Item type:Publication, Performance comparison between a two-switch and RCD clamp forward converters(2019-07-01) ;Wuti, Virot ;Luangpol, Amata ;Tattiwong, Kaweewat ;Sopin, AnanThis paper presents performance comparison between a two-switch and RCD clamp forward converters. The performance comparison is carried out through experimentation on the two prototype circuits, which have the same circuit specifications and similar component values. Aspects to be compared include voltage stress of switching components, output voltage regulation, transient response due to a step-load, and efficiency. Test results show that, while the two converters exhibit equal performance on output voltage regulation, the two-switch forward converter has a lower voltage stress on power switching devices, faster transient response, and higher efficiency than the RCD clamp forward converter. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, FPGA implementation of QR decomposition using MGS algorithm(2010-04-29) ;Boonpoonga, Akkarat ;Janyavilas, Sompop; FPGA implementation of MGS-QRD is presented in this paper. Mapping conventional QR triangular array of (2m <sup>2</sup>+3m+1) cells onto a linear architecture of m+1 cells is employed to reduce the number of required QR processors. The architecture for MGS-QRD implementation is discussed, including the structure of a boundary cell (BC) and internal cell (IC). A divider in BC is modified as a Look-Up Table (LUT) and multiplier. The multiplier divided from the divider can be accomplished by sharing it with another multiplier to reduce the resource for BC implementation. Furthermore, the conventional complex multiplication in IC is also modified with three multipliers and four adders. The designed architecture based on discrete mapping of MGS-QRD is implemented to examine FPGA resource utilization. Item type:Publication, Performance evaluation of D3LS and NCLS smart antenna in mobile communications(2012-12-01) ;Boonpoonga, Akkarat ;Nilsuwan, Phichet ;Tagapanij, JukkritA smart antenna was proposed to improve wireless communication systems. The smart antenna may comprises direction-of-arrival (DOA) estimation and/or adaptive antenna. The DOA estimation technique is used to estimate direction of transmitted signals. An adaptive antenna has ability of suppressing undesired signals namely interference or jammers in specific directions while receive only the desired one. There are a number of methods proposed to conduct in such way, including multiple signal classification (MUSIC), least mean squares (LMS), sample matrix inversion (SMI), recursive least squares (RLS), and their derivative forms as seen in the literatures in [1]. These methods require a training sequence or known information for adaptation and/or DOA estimation. Although a constant modulus algorithm (CMA) was proposed without the need of training sequence, it has a slow convergence. © 2012 IEICE.
