Item type:Publication, Implementation of fuzzy logic controller with bifurcation control of a current-mode boost converter(2007-12-01) ;Khaehintung, Noppadol; This paper presents the design of a basic fuzzy logic controller for switching current-mode DC/DC boost converters. The proposed simple fuzzy logic controllers used only nine rules to regulate output voltage. Moreover, they provide an optimal slope compensation to keep the system adequately remote from the first bifurcation point by mean of stabilizing around the reference signal. In spite of nonlinear characteristics and instabilities of the converter, the performance of the closed-loop control system can be considerably improved to avoid bifurcation phenomena. The experimental results found that these technique introduced in this paper give satisfactory results with the regulating and tracking modes under changes in operating conditions. © 2007 IEEE. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Implementation of switched-current FIR filter using distributed arithmetic technique: Exploitation of digital concept in analogue domain(2004-12-01); ;Worapishet, Apisak ;Chanyavilas, SompopDejhan, KobchaiRecently, a distributed arithmetic (DA) technique has been employed in digital implementation of finite impulse response (FIR) filters, since it can significantly reduce hardware resources at the cost of higher clock frequency. In this paper, we show that the concept of DA can be efficiently exploited in an analogue domain. Specifically, a switched-current (SI) FIR filter is realized based upon the concept of DA. Besides, it is revealed that the DA SI FIR filter offers extended maximum achievable resolution normally dictated by transistor matching. The technique also helps reduce silicon area and power requirements. Two examples of FIR filter design according to WCDMA and cdma2000 specifications are presented to demonstrate the feasibility of the novel technique. Item type:Publication, Exploitation of IoTs for PMU in Tethered Drone(2021-04-01); ;Pookaiyaudom, PanavyThis paper presents the implementation of IoT (Internet of Things) for monitoring and control in the tethered drone PMU (Power Management Unit) system. Traditionally, power source of a drone is from battery which causes the tradeoff between weight and flight time. To overcome this limitation, stationary tethered drones consume energy from a ground energy source thru light weighted power cords. Tethered drones' benefits are ideally suited for military uses such as border security and surveillance system, where day-night surveillance capabilities are crucial to monitoring perimeters. It can also be used for tactical communication, fast-deployed relay stations. Since a long operation time, monitoring and control power onboard becomes necessary. Using extra cords for communication will increase the airborne weight. This paper presents the exploitation of wireless IoT system for the tethered drone PMU system. It consists of the PMU-ground constantly delivering 4000W power to PMU-air for BLDC motors also various payloads. With additional IoT including Raspberry Pi, NodeMCUs and sensors, users at ground station can monitor voltage and current values in real-time, also can control MOSFET switches connected with loads onboard via PMU touch screen monitor or smart devices. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, A switched-beam element phased array antenna for CMA initialization(2006-01-01) ;Boonpoonga, Akkarat; This paper proposes an initialization scheme for a Constant Modulus Algorithm (CMA). The technique can significantly improve convergence properties of CMA, which is employed for weight adjustment of an adaptive antenna system. The technique exploits a beam of a switched-beam element phased array antenna with the maximum received power to initial CMA. In addition, a main beam of the antenna can be switched into more directions by utilizing four one-bit phase shifters. Antenna patterns are shown and selected for CMA initialization. Item type:Publication, Grid-connected photovoltaic system with maximum power point tracking using self-organizing fuzzy logic controller(2005-12-01) ;Khaehintung, Noppadol ;Kangsajian, Chaiboon; This paper presents the design of a controller for the maximum power point tracking of a grid-connected photovoltaic energy conversion system. A boost converter is used in the system to deliver the output from the solar array to DC-AC inverter, and feed the power into the AC grid. A self-organizing fuzzy logic controller is introduced for the tracking algorithm. The duty ratio for the operation of the boost converter is optimally adjusted in such a way that the maximum power point, which normally varies according to the environment, can be achieved. We demonstrate via the simulation results that our proposed technique outperforms over the conventional fuzzy logic controller in terms of tracking speed and transient response. Furthermore, the algorithm implementation can be done using a look-up table, hence a high-performance, cost-effective real-time maximum power point tracking can be simply realized. © 2005 IEEE. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings

Item type:Publication, A solar-powered battery charger with neural network maximum power point tracking implemented on a low-cost PIC-microcontroller(2005-01-01) ;Petchjatuporn, Panom; ;Ngamkham, Wannaya ;Kiranon, WiwatKhaehintung, NoppadolThis paper presents the development of a maximum power point tracking algorithm using an artificial neural network for a solar power system. By applying a three layers neural network and some simple activation functions, the maximum power point of a solar array can be efficiently tracked. The tracking algorithm integrated with a solar-powered battery charging system has been successfully implemented on a low-cost PIC16F876 RISC-microcontroller without external sensor unit requirement. The experimental results with a commercial solar array show that the proposed algorithm outperforms the conventional controller in terms of tracking speed and mitigation of fluctuation output power in steady state operation. Item type:Publication, Wordlength effect on CMA adaptive antenna with digital beam synthesis initialization(2008-12-01) ;Boonpoonga, Akkarat ;Tantisopharak, Tanawut; This paper investigates the wordlength effect on the CMA adaptive antenna with digital beam synthesis initialization. The antenna is a four-element circular array whose main beam can be switched into different directions by using digital beam synthesizer. A beam obtained from digital beam synthesis is exploited as an initial beam for CMA. A weight vector for generating initial beams of CMA is chosen by determining radiation patterns. The SINR of the digital beam synthesis-based CMA adaptive antenna with different wordlengths are shown. A matrix pencil method is utilized to extract poles from the late-Time portion of the scattering transient response of the object. Simulations are conducted to evaluate the effect of soil perturbation on these poles. Simulation results shows the perturbation of soil, especially in term of dielectric constant and object depth, have a strong effect on poles. Item type:Publication, Adaptive array antenna using on-off and CMA algorithms for microwave RFID readers(2011-01-01) ;Tantisopharak, Tanawut ;Boonpoonga, Akkarat; ; This paper proposes an adaptive antenna using a combination of on-off and CMA algorithms. With the proposed technique, the on-off algorithm is first employed to search for a desired signal direction in which maximum received power is achieved. Then, interference is suppressed by performing CMA. Simulations are conducted according to the potential application of the proposed adaptive antenna. The simulation results show the SINR improvement implying that the proposed adaptive antenna can be applied to microwave RFID systems in order to resolve reader collision. Furthermore, the proposed adaptive antenna is implemented and then experimented. The experimental results verify that the proposed adaptive antenna can reduce interference resulting in the collision problem.
