Item type:Publication, A development of hybrid temperature recorder monitoring system(2010-12-01) ;Oonchom, Keelati ;Arnuttinanon, BenjapornCurrently, the HDDs (Hard Disk Drives) from a production line have to pass an operation test in a burn-in chamber. To ensure quality, after an operation period, the burn-in chamber has to be calibrated. The calibration process requires an engineer to manually monitor a temperature at the hybrid temperature recorder connected to the burn-in chamber throughout the entire process. It is a time consuming operation and inefficient process due to a large number of burn-in chambers used in the production line, when comparing with a limited number of engineers. This paper expresses a development of hybrid temperature recorder monitoring system used to improve such the calibration process. There are two main systems involved, i.e., a temperature recording system and a monitoring system. However, the monitoring system is mainly focused in this paper. Also, an object-oriented analysis and design methodology (OOADM) is applied in the development process. The monitoring system interconnects the hybrid temperature recorder through a wireless network to receive the temperatures captured from sensors inside the burn-in chamber. Then, the temperature data is processed and displayed at the central server of system in the engineering office. This could allow the engineer to centrally monitor all hybrid temperature recorders used in the calibration process of burn-in chamber in real-time. The monitoring system can display the alarm signal when the errors occur during the calibration process and sent it to the engineer for alerting as well. Item type:Publication, A Result Verification of Decision Tree Model for Industrial Wireless Sensors Selection using Analytic Hierarchy Process(2019-07-01) ;Meesawad, Saksiri ;Thanasopon, BunditNowadays, an industrial wireless sensor (IWS) is interested and widely used in a Gas industry in Thailand. There are many vendors trying to improve quality of IWS products for gaining advantage in competitive market. Therefore, choosing the IWS becomes a challenge for users not only the brand name and price but also several factors needed to be considered, e.g., data rate, output power, operating voltage, transmitting current, receiving current, and operating temperature. Selecting the proper IWS is considered as a multi-objective decision problem that is complicated for an engineer and a project manager. The classification method using a Decision Tree)DT(model can be applied to solve such the problem, but the accuracy is depended on the number of historical data. For IWS in the Gas industry in Thailand, not only the number of training and testing data is limited but also there are only a few brands that are chosen regularly. In this paper, the method of applying the DT model for IWS classification and selection is presented. Then, the classification result of the DT model is verified by using an Analytic Hierarchy Process)AHP(for confirming whether it is accurate based on the limit number of historical data. Item type:Publication, Searching energy-efficient route in rough terrain for mobile robot with ant algorithm(2012-12-01); Recently, the ant algorithm has been widely used to solve the problem for searching optimized route from various different paths. It can be applied for searching an appropriate route that consumes less energy in mobile robot area as well. However, the previous optimized routes resulting from the ant algorithms considered only in flat terrain environment. They did not mention rough terrain environment. For the rough terrain, the optimized results might not be optimized in term of energy, due to slopes contained inside. This paper presents the application of ant algorithms for searching energy-efficient route of mobile robot in the rough terrain environment. The conventional ant colony optimization (ACO) algorithm and the adapted ACO algorithm are used to find the optimized routes in terms of distance and energy for comparison. The experimental results showed that, by using the speed with distance weighting factor, the adapted ACO yielded the optimized distance and energy in the flat terrain. In the rough terrain, the adapted ACO could also provide the energy-efficient routes better than the flat terrain. The main purpose of academic sectors that applies such those technologies is not only to be an educational services center for supporting academic staff and students but also to create a new approach of E-leaming system in a borderless aspect. This paper describes a collaborative research on the pilot global distance training project between the Ministry of Public Management, Home Affairs, Post and Telecommunications, Tokai University, Japan International Cooperation Agency, and King Mongkut's Institute of Technology Ladkrabang. The research combines synchronous and asynchronous E-learning concept to the system. The outline of system, network configuration, services feature, and training experiment were described including measurement to verify the overall system performance. Item type:Publication, A comparison of decision tree based techniques for indoor positioning system(2018-04-19) ;Chanama, LummaneeCurrently, an indoor positioning system based on a fingerprint technique for wireless networks under IEEE 802.11 standard uses a method to collect a received signal strengths (RSS) to create a radio map in an offline phase. Then, it detects the RSS in an online phase to compare and find the position. However, while detecting and gathering the RSS, there are some variations of the RSS that affect the accuracy of position estimation. Therefore, there are several methods used to estimate the position in order to improve the accuracy, but the one focused in this paper is a decision tree based classification. The decision tree based classification method is found that it can provide better improvement in accuracy than the others, e.g., K-Nearest Neighbor (K-NN), Bayesian, and Neural networks. However, the techniques used to construct the decision tree are varied depending on the algorithm used to implement. Therefore, this paper is a comparison of decision tree based techniques using typical decision tree (DT) and Gradient boosted tree algorithms for estimating the position indoor. In the study, the RSSs collected from access points in the experimental area are used as the training and testing data. The decision tree models are created by using typical DT and Gradient boosted algorithms based on the training data obtained. There are two factors to consider in the comparative study, i.e., the number of training data and the number of reference radio signals. The testing results from the experiment showed that the decision tree based on Gradient boosted algorithm yielded more accurate results than typical DT, where the amount of 19 reference radio signals and 50 samples of training data gave the best result. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings

Therefore, this paper describes the prototype development of hybrid temperature recorder monitoring system implemented to improve the current manual calibration process of burn-in chamber. The work in this paper applies an objectoriented analysis and design methodology (OOADM) in the development process. The proposed system comprises two subsystems, i.e., a temperature recording subsystem and a monitoring subsystem, interconnected through a wireless network. The temperature recording subsystem performs capturing temperatures from sensors inside the burn-in chamber and sending the temperature data to a central server at the monitoring subsystem in the engineering office for monitoring in real-time. When the errors occur during the calibration process, the alarm signal is displayed and sent to the engineer for alerting. Item type:Publication, Moving average based adaptive buffer for haptic media synchronization in telehaptics(2005-11-16); Ohara, ShigeyukiTelehaptics Is involved with varions aspects of teleoperation applications. The problem of telehaptics of our concern In teleoperation is a delay variation on networks, or jitter delay. To solve the delay variation problem, a method of synchronization is required. This paper proposes the adaptive buffering control method for haptic media synchronization. The adaptive mechanism employs a moving average smoothing technique to calculate an expected delay in accordance with the delay variations resulting from the network traffics. Then, the expected delay is used to adjust the buffer size under a specified threshold. The idea of haptic media synchronization using a fixed buffer approach from our previous work is first carried out in the paper. Then, the proposed adaptive buffering control approach is explored in detail, including the methods to select the number of spans and to specify the threshold of adaptation. In addition, performance of the synchronization is verified by measuring the loss rate of haptic sequences for comparison between the fixed and adaptive buffering control approaches. According to the results, the adaptive buffer can preserve the loss of haptic sequences better than the fixed buffer approach when performing over the local, regional, and long distance network links under specified traffic conditions. ©2005 IEEE. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings

To improve the monitoring procedure of current calibration process, a hybrid temperature recorder monitoring system is developed. The system is composed of two subsystems, i.e., a temperature recording subsystem and a monitoring subsystem, interconnected through a wireless network. To verify the accuracy of system operation, the simulation experiment is set up by acquiring an actual data from current calibration process in the production line. The actual data used to verify in the experiment reflects the results of operation found in three cases, i.e., normal operation, loose probe, and broken probe. The experimental results express that the system yields the same outcomes as in the actual operation of current calibration process. Therefore, the hybrid temperature recorder monitoring system can perform the operation accurately and can be deployed into the actual process in the future. © 2011 IEEE. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, A joint controller-simulator programming by demonstration method for PLC devices(2006-12-01) ;Changsakol, Phissanu; In this paper, a problem of visual programming of PLC (programmable logic controller) devices is described. A programming by demonstration method is developed so that a problem-domain expert can program such devices without computer programming skill. The method is novel in the sense that, unlike other programming-by-demonstration methods, it requires little a priori knowledge of the controlled system model, nor it needs to interact with a real system. A simulation model, which captures the laws of nature governing the system behavior, is jointly programmed with a control device (PLC). A PLC programming tool, developed based on the proposed joint controller-simulator programming by demonstration paradigm, can generate a high-level structure text program code, from the demonstrated actions as performed by a user. © 2006 IEEE. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, A learning mechanism for adaptive fitness function in auto 3D graphics layout using genetic algorithm(2001-01-01); ;Thanapandi, C. ;Ohara, S.; Burintramart, I.In computer-aided drafting and designing area, interactive graphics are used for designing components, systems, layouts, and structures. There are several approaches using for automated graphical layout tools in designing the graphic currently. Our research work aims to reduce design-working time, to learn user preferences, and to generate 3D graphical layout design automatically. An attempt to enable computers to generate 3D graphical layout design and presentation automatically by using Genetic Algorithm (GA) has been discussed for a decade. An effective use of GA in automated graphical layout design relies on how close to define a fitness function that can be reflected the user preferences. In this paper, we introduce the methods to define chromosome structures and fitness functions and of the selected objects. A learning mechanism is employed to adjust the fitness values of the objects in the selected layout choosing by the users. By this approach, the fitness functions can be changed adaptively reflecting the selection and user preferences.
