Item type:Publication, Production of Biomass Briquette from Residual Bleaching Earth and Empty Palm Bunch(2017-01-01); ; ;Wongpitithawat, Pitiwat ;The-Eye, KorawitWongkeaw, KittipongBleaching earth (BE) and empty palm bunches (EPB) are residual materials in the palm oil production process. Inside BE consisted of copious oil quantities, in the same way, the EPB had the high heating value. These residual materials could be recycled to become the biomass briquettes (BB). Therefore, this work investigated the BB production at the different condition. The compression temperature was 150, 250 and 350°C. The compressive velocity was 30, 40 and 50 rpm. The mixture ratio by weight between BE and EPB was 30:70, 40:60, 50:50, 60:40 and 70:30. After production, the BB were examined the fuel properties, i.e., moisture content (MC), ash content (AC), the heating value (HV), the fixed carbon content (FC) and volatile matter content (VC). Experimental results showed the MC, HV, FC and VC diminished with the decrease of EPB quantity. The AC increased with the augmentation of BE content. The BB production rate increased with the compression velocity by it had the maximum production rate about 390 pieces per hour at the velocity of 50 rpm. Moreover, the increased velocity affected the diminution of HV, fixed carbon, moisture and volatile matter for some the mixture ratio and compression temperature. The alteration of compression temperature insignificantly affected the quantity of HV for some the mixture ratio and compression velocity. The BB production should be produced at the ratio of 30:70 combined with the compressive speed and temperature of 30 rpm and 250°C, respectively. This condition gave the high HV, the low moisture content corresponded with the standard of fuel properties, excepting, the quantity of ash and fixed carbon. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Layer-by-layer dip coating of Foley urinary catheters by chlorhexidine-loaded micelles(2019-02-01); Nasongkla, NorasedChlorhexidine-loaded poly(ethylene glycol)-block-poly(ε-caprolactone) micelles (CHX-micelles) were prepared by the solvent evaporation method and were used to coat urinary catheters. The layer-by-layer (LbL) dip coating technique was used to coat the micelles onto the catheters, which consisted of the alternation of coating with CHX-micelles and poly(acrylic acid). The number of LbL nanocoating cycles was varied, and the properties of the coated catheters were investigated for their drug content and the coating thickness. The optimal coated catheter had 90 bilayers, which provided the maximum CHX content at 32.3 ± 1.4 μg/cm<sup>2</sup>, and the thickness of the thin film on these coated catheters was 6.87 ± 0.36 μm. Coated catheters were studied in the in vitro CHX-release, antibacterial activity, cytotoxicity, and hemolytic activity. Drug release from the coated catheters was controlled, and bacteria proliferation was inhibited for up to 6 days. Results suggest that the antimicrobial activity of the coated catheter reduces the adherence of uropathogens to the catheter's surface. The cytotoxicity and hemolytic activity of the coated catheters showed biocompatible properties. The coated catheter presented the potential to inhibit uropathogen colonization and formation. This nanocoating technology can also be applied to other medical implants that carry the risk of infection. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Spray coating of foley urinary catheter by chlorhexidine-loadedpoly(ε-caprolactone) nanospheres: effect of lyoprotectants, characteristics, and antibacterial activity evaluation(2019-04-21); Nasongkla, NorasedIn this study, chlorhexidine-loaded poly(ε-caprolactone) nanospheres (CHX-NS) were prepared and successfully coated on the urinary catheters. Properties of CHX-NS were evaluated including drug loading content and the nanosphere size. Effects of different lyoprotectants for long-term storage of CHX-NS were also investigated. In vitro release study and antibacterial activity were also conducted using 20 cycles coated-urinary catheters. Results showed that the high-pressure emulsification-solvent evaporation technique provided the drug loading content at 1.14 ± 0.16% and the size of nanospheres was 152 ± 37 nm. The suitable lyoprotectant for long-term storage of CHX-NS was sucrose which provided noticeably no aggregation at the degree of reconstitution at 89.95%. The amount of CHX loading on coated catheters was at 4.55 ± 0.31 mg. Drug release from the coated catheters in artificial urine could be prolonged up to 2 weeks and bacteria proliferation was inhibited up to 14 days. These results suggest that the antimicrobial activity of CHX-NS reduces the adherence of the uropathogens to the catheter surface. Chlorhexidine-loaded polymeric nanospheres were fabricated which can be successfully coated on urinary catheters. These systems have potential use for prolonged antimicrobial applications. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, The study of quality attributes of parboiled rice during steaming process with revolved sieve(2018-08-14); ; The steaming process with revolved sieve was studied as a function of steaming time and revolution velocity. The quality of parboiled rice in terms of thermal property, head rice yield and color was investigated and compared to the conventional steaming process such as fixed sieve. The experimental results showed that the steaming process with revolved sieve had advantage over the steaming process with fixed sieve. It led to a steamed sample with higher DG higher head rice yield and lower whiteness value. The required steaming time for a regularity quality by a steaming process with revolved sieve was also shorter. Moreover, the steaming time affected the qualities of parboiled rice. The long steaming time provided the higher DG and head rice yield and lower whiteness value of parboiled rice. Considering revolution velocity, it was found that the revolution velocity did not affect the qualities of parboiled rice. However, the revolution velocity of 5 rpm with steaming time of 5 min provided the difference of quality at each layer. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, The study of the drying kinetic and the cutting performance in dried betel nut production machine(2018-08-14); ; Betel nut kernel is an important raw material in the leather and dye industries. The quality control after harvest is necessary, especially, the excess moisture content may cause the spoilage. Therefore, this research aims to study the betel nut fruit drying using infrared ray combined with the rotated trays. The betel nuts fruits were placed in rotated trays. These trays were installed within drying chamber which had the infrared rod in 2 positions namely the center and wall of drying chamber. The drying temperature used at 80, 100 and 120°C. The revolution speed of tray was set at 2, 4 and 6 rpm. The dried betel nut fruits were cut into 2 pieces at the blade speed of 25, 30 and 35 rpm. The experimental results showed the installation of infrared rods at the center could decrease the moisture content faster than at the wall. The betel nut fruit should use the drying temperature of 120°C for 10 h and the revolution speed of 2 rpm. The blade speed of 30 rpm gave the most cutting performance about 76%. The colour of dried betel nut kernel (L<sup>∗</sup>, a<sup>∗</sup> and b<sup>∗</sup>) did not significantly difference with the commercial betel nut.
