Item type:Publication, Heat pipe inspection system for thermal management in electronic circuit(2011-07-26)This research paper proposes the inspection system of heat pipe cooling for electronic devices, such as CPU in personal computer, laptop computer and so on. The inspection system is an essential part in production process of heat pipes CPU cooler. To ensure the high quality product, a 100% quality checking is taken into account. Generally, heat pipe inspection system is conducted by human ears that may cause errors. Therefore, this work proposes the automatic inspection system using the concept on the basis of sensing Acoustic Emission (AE) signals. In the experiment, the AE sensor was mounted on the heat pipe surface to measure the vibration degree sent to computer. The signal of acoustic vibration was analyzed by windows operating system using LABVIEW and NI USB-9233 data acquisition module. Threshold level of noise vibration shown in the program could identify quality or defect of the heat pipe cooling operation. The performances evaluation is satisfactorily achieved with the proposed system illustrated by the testing of the known condition product. This research could potentially help improving the quality assurance operation of heat pipe cooling inspection system in any industries. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Asymmetry regional boundary localization for indoor robot navigation(2018-01-01) ;Wanadecha, N.This paper presents the new methodology of indoor localization based-on Received Signal Strength Indicator (RSSI) of Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) using Asymmetry Regional Boundary Localization (ARBL) which is designed to support mobile robot navigation. since many types of obstruction such as walls, poles, and traps in the environment may confuse robot trajectory and avoidance strategy, our main objective is to analyze our desire test bed in the form of asymmetry region with the benefit of RSSI map fingerprinting technique. The regions are created from multiple anchor nodes’ boundary intersection which is predetermined by the working range that provide the finest repeatability value. Each region is classified by supervised neural network. When the robot senses the existence of obstacle, that particular region is declared as occupied zone which is not allowed to enter during path planning process. Once the entire virtual map is acquired, suitable path is obtained by Q-learning algorithm, thus the robot can travel through the field. The experiments are performed with 2 different types of test bed. Each of which shows region classification performance of 71.9% and 85.8%, respectively. Finally, to demonstrate the effective of our method, dealing with obstacles in the field, the comparison between conventional Q-learning algorithm and our proposed method is shown. The proposed method not only gives better learning progress but also spends less computational resources, reducing the complexity of the navigation problem. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, An implementation on 3D positioning aquatic robot(2016-01-01) ;Ratanajaratrod, T.This paper presents a study and design of a robotic fish that imitates bladder function of a fish by focusing on the orientation performance. The main focus of the research is to develop the robotic fish which can perform the natural orientation of a fish. Not only the turning maneuver of the robotic fish takes place in horizontal plane or vertical plane at a time, but also in both of horizontal and vertical planes simultaneously. The orientation of the robot is conducted by anti-weight equilibriums, which are installed near the center of gravity of the robot, to maintain the desired position. The collection of robotic orientations is operated by designed apparatus including 4 anti-weight objects which attached with servo motors for rolling and pitching. The implementation of the proposed robotic fish shows a good performance as well as illustrate the robustness of such a robotic framework. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Contrast enhancement of satellite image based on adaptive unsharp masking using wavelet transform(2006-12-01); ;Phahonyothing, S.; Cheevasuvit, F.This paper concerns with a method for unsharp masking for contrast enhancement of satellite image. We employ the nature of wavelet transform that separates the original image into low and high frequency sub-band images as low and high pass filter. Particularly, a number of high frequency sub-band images consist of horizontal, vertical, and diagonal coefficients that contain detail of information. Taking inverse wavelet transform of each sub-band image separately except low frequency one, we have each of high frequency information in horizontal, vertical, and diagonal image. All of them are scaled by the scaling factor in each one separately. Adaptive algorithm is implemented to results the suitable scaling factor to obtain the enhanced image corresponding with the given criterion based on variance of each area smooth and detail area. Experimental results show that our method performs well to high enhance in detail area and low in smooth area. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, A PDA-based human-robot interaction using EMG-based modified morse code(2005-12-01)The paper presents an innovative human-robot communication paradigm for people with disability using electromyography (EMG) signals via a Personal Digital Assistant (PDA). The paper proposes a novel human-robot interaction architecture where the disabled people could interact with the robot using an EMG-based Morse code-inspired communication from portable devices. The user employs EMG signals to issue high-level commands to the robot that decomposes these commands into low-level primitive subtasks. Then, the robot dynamically constructs an action selection network to form the operational plan. The architecture is developed on a PDA that offers small and lightweight mobile interaction devices. Utilizing the PDA with EMG-based modified Morse code could provide flexibility, mobility, and durability for handicapped people to control the robot-aid system. The proposed paradigm has been implemented to develop a prototypical system, and the experiments also illustrate the conventionality, and the robustness of such a human-robot framework. © 2005 IEEE. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Design of decoupled controller for TITO system using characteristic ratio assignment(2007-12-01); ;Wongkhum, Theerachai ;Suksri, Tianchai; Most control performances in actual design are usually defined by the time domain response such as overshoot, rising time, settling time, steady state error, etc.. There are few control design methods, which are able to apply directly to the purpose. The pole placement method is the most popular. The Characteristic Ratio Assignment (CRA) is one technique of pole placement based on defined parameter of characteristic equation. This technique cans adjustment of speed response and the damping ratios by only one parameter. In this paper, CRA is use to design controller for two-input two-output (TITO) systems. By using the decentralized CRA controllers and eliminate interaction between loop transfer function with conventional decoupler design method. Several examples are present to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed method and compared it with existing ones. It is show that CRA design is stable, robust, whilst giving the desired time domain performance. © ICROS. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, A PDA-based human-robot interaction for disabled persons using electromyography(2006-01-01)The paper discusses a novel humane-robot communication system for people with disability using electromyography (EMG) signals via a Personal Digital Assistant (PDA), This paper is a continual research from our previous work [1] with the objective of extending our approach to portable device with adaptive user interface capability, It presents an innovative architecture of human-robot interaction where the disabled persons could command the robot through an EMG-based Morse code-inspired communication paradigm on PDAs. The disabled persons may issue high-level commands to the robot via their muscle's EMG Signal. The system will decompose these EMG commands into low-level subtasks. Then, the robot dynamically constructs an action selection network to form the action plan. The architecture is developed on a PDA that offers small and lightweight mobile interaction devices. Utilizing the PDA with EMG-based modified Morse code could provide flexibility, mobility, and durability for handicapped people to control the robot-aid system. Additionally, the system is designed as an agent-based user interface (UI) for mixed-initiative interaction for the user. The proposed paradigm has been implemented to develop a prototypical system, and the experiments also illustrate the conventionality, and the robustness of such a human-robot framework. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, An innovative high-level human-robot interaction for disabled persons(2004-01-01); ;Rani, PramilaSarkar, NilanjanHuman-robot interaction poses great challenges to disabled people who must be able to control the robot via a limited physical ability. A novel semi-autonomous human-robot system where the robot requires only high-level commands from the human to perform its tasks is proposed. In this system a Morse code inspired but relatively more flexible and robust communication technique generates such high-level commands from Electromyogram (EMG) signals. The proposed framework has been implemented to develop a prototypical human-robot interaction system. Initial results from preliminary human subject experiments are encouraging and demonstrative of the advantages of such a human-robot framework. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, A PDA-based high-level human-robot interaction(2004-12-01); ;Sueset, TaweepolMuguruma, KazuhikoThis paper describes an innovative architecture for a high-level interaction between a human and a robot via a Personal Digital Assistant (PDA). PDA is a design to provide small and lightweight mobile interaction devices. This interface architecture differs from previous PDA human-robot interfaces in that it uses high-level task decomposition, and adaptive user interface (UI) than teleoperation interfaces. Adaptive user interface typically refers to a flexible interaction strategy between a human and a computer to contribute what is best-suited at the most appropriate time. We extended this concept to human-robot interaction (HRI) and employed the architecture into mobile devices (i.e. PDA and PocketPC). Such devices could provide mobility and durability for robot operations. This work implemented an agent-based high-level human-robot interface on PDA to provide interactions with robots. Four PDA user interfaces were developed: a Map-Based robot control screen, a Laser Range Finder screen, a Sonar Sensor screen, and Camera View with object selection screen. The proposed framework has been implemented to develop a prototypical PDA-based human-robot interaction system. The initial results are encouraging and demonstrate the capabilities of such a human-robot framework. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Simultaneous mean brightness preservation and contrast improvement via multi-peak Histogram Equalization(2011-01-01) ;Cheevasuvit, Fusak ;Phanthuna, NattapongHistogram Equalization is a traditional image improvement method for enhancing image contrast. However, this image contrast improvement is unsuitable for some consumer electronic applications since mean brightness of output image is different from that of the original image. Nevertheless, when the average brightness of the output image is close to the mean brightness of the original image, its contrast is also decreased thereby reducing efficiency of contrast improvement algorithm. In this paper, we propose a method that not only preserves the mean brightness but also improves the contrast of the output image. By separating the Histogram into Sub-histograms or Multi-peak histogram based on local minima, each sub-histogram will be spread out in a maximum dynamic range based on their gray level interval proportions. Subsequently, the conventional histogram equalization is independently applied to sub-histogram of each peak. To preserve the mean brightness, positions of local minima will be finely adjusted by shifting them within a certain gray scale interval. During each adjustment, sub-histograms of the two local minima which connected to the new local minimum point are re-equalized again. Finally, standard deviation will be normalized in order to improve contrast of the output image. © 2011 The Institute of Electrical Engineers of Japan.1
