Item type:Publication, The simulation of volume shrinkage for double-injection molding with PC and ABS(2018-08-14) ;Leklong, PichaiThe objective of this paper was to study and analyze the plastic injection molding parameters to reduce the volume shrinkage of double injection molded part. The specimen was molded with Acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene (ABS) after Polycarbonate was molded as a half part. The weld line occurred at the haft of the molded part. The simulation with Moldex 3D R13 and the design of experiment with Taguchi method was used to perform the experiments and analyze the data to get the optimum of volume shrinkage. The results showed that melt temperature and packing pressure was significant to the volume shrinkage. When using low melt temperature and high packing pressure, the shrinkage was low and related to the thermal expansion of the material. It would be one of the parameters to the design of double injection molding. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Preparation and characterization of the Na2Ti3O7: ABS/Na2Ti3O7 composites(2017-01-01) ;Sangkatip, Rittichai; Titanate Ribbon (Na<inf>2</inf>Ti<inf>3</inf>O<inf>7</inf>) used in ABS plastic was synthesized to study the mechanical properties and to conduct test on the E-coli bacteria inhibition performance. The polymer blends of ABS/Na<inf>2</inf>Ti<inf>3</inf>O<inf>7</inf> by Na<inf>2</inf>Ti<inf>3</inf>O<inf>7</inf>, was synthesized through alkaline hydrothermal reaction with 0.5 grams of titanium dioxide as a precursor with 20 ml. of sodium hydroxide (NaOH) at the concentration of 10 molar under the alkalinity at 200°c for 24 hours. The study on the microstructure by scanning electron microscope revealed that the Layered structure was shaped as a complete ribbon. The mechanical testing activities on the E-coli bacteria inhibition polymer mixed ABS/Na<inf>2</inf>Ti<inf>3</inf>O<inf>7</inf>; it was found that the mechanical properties for ABS/Na<inf>2</inf>Ti<inf>3</inf>O<inf>7</inf>, The results showed that tensile modulus and tensile strength of blending Na<inf>2</inf>Ti<inf>3</inf>O<inf>7</inf> at 0.5 %wt was the highest. The result showed that E.coli could reduce up to 66.01%. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, An application of the design of experiment for purging of injection molding machine and hot runner mold(2013-01-01)This research was proposed on the experimental study on purging of an injection molding machine's barrel and hot runner mold. The Taguchi method was used to design the experiment with two level of shot size, melt temperature, injection speed, screw speed, injection pressure, back pressure and suck back position and two level of temperature at hot runner mold. Those factors were controllable factors while mixing with recycle material and moisture content of material were uncontrollable factors. The ABS resin was used to perform the experiment. It was mixed with 5% (by weight) of mica particles and acted as particle tracer and used for the first shot. Then, the barrel and hot runner mold were purged with virgin ABS. The results showed that shot size, melt temperature, screw speed and injection speed were main factors which significant for purging and the mixing recycle material effect to purging more than the moisture content in material. However the suck back position should be used during purging. The temperature of hot runner mold should be set at normal injection condition. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Antibacterial and mechanical properties of the TiO2/ABS composites(2017-01-01) ;Sangkatip, Rittichai; The aim of this present work is to enhance photoantibacterial performance on a surface of Acrylonitrile-Butadiene-Styrene (ABS) by mixing titanium dioxide (TiO<inf>2</inf>). The influences of different ratios for TiO<inf>2</inf> under UV light irradiation were investigated according to JIS Z 2801: 2010 standard. 0.5%, 1% and 2% TiO<inf>2</inf>/ABS were formed by melting process with internal mixer and compression molding process. E.coli were chosen as a model of bacteria. The best photoantibacterial activity was provided by 0.5% TiO<inf>2</inf>/ABS. The result showed that E.coli could reduce up to 46.95%. However, a higher amount of TiO<inf>2</inf> (i.e., 1% and 2% TiO<inf>2</inf>/ABS) obstructed the reaction, and E.coli was reduced to 42.6% and 36.08%, respectively. This was due to its aggregation observed from SEM image. For mechanical properties for TiO<inf>2</inf>/ABS, The results showed that tensile modulus and tensile strength of blending TiO<inf>2</inf> at 0.5 %wt was the highest but the tensile was decreased when increasing TiO<inf>2</inf> in polymer blended. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, The experimental study on purging of injection molding machine(2011-08-23)This research was to study on purging of injection molding machine. The polypropylene was used in this study. The fractional design was used to design the experiments with five main factors and two levels such as processing temperature, injection pressure, screw speed, injection velocity, and suck-back position. Some interactions were shown with the analysis by Minitab. Those factors were effect in purging. The recommend to purge the PP were using high level of screw speed, injection velocity and suck - back position while the processing temperature and injection pressure should be in the low level. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Effect of mixed filler on thermal properties of foodstuff conveyor belts compound using an industrial microwave pre-heating(2016-01-01) ;Limhengha, Suphatchakorn ;Limnararat, SunpasitThis study presented the utilization of microwave power for heating of epoxidized natural rubber-50 compounding (ENR50c) with and without mixed filler in which the sulfur contents were 1.0, 1.5 and 2.0 parts per hundred parts of dried rubber by weight basis, respectively. The microwave power used was varied in a range of 340-1,700 W with a constant frequency of 2.45 GHz. The mixed filler significantly affected the relative dielectric constant, relative loss factor and loss tangent coefficient. The microwave power and time strongly influenced the temperature of the specimen. The longer time and higher microwave power resulted in higher temperature of the specimen. On the contrary, the thickness of specimen inversely affected the temperature of the specimen. The lower temperature was obtained from the thicker specimen. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Effect of ENR50/STR5L blends on properties of foodstuff conveyor belts compound(2016-01-01) ;Limhengha, Suphatchakorn ;Limnararat, SunpasitNatural rubber blending with nitrile rubber is the important raw material employed for the foodstuff conveyor belts formulation. This research involves the replacement of nitrile rubber with epoxidised natural rubber (ENR) aiming for food safety precaution and cost saving on the materials. This work included the investigation on the ratio of ENR with 50% epoxidation (ENR50) and natural rubber (Standard Thai Rubber 5L,STR5L). The ratios of ENR50:STR5L were 100:0, 75:25, 50:50, 25:75 and 0:100. The effect of fillers, i.e. silica (SiO<inf>2</inf>) and magnesium carbonate (MgCO<inf>3</inf>) on the properties of rubber blends was also investigated. The vulcanizing system was semi-efficient vulcanization (Semi-EV). The study was further focused on the morphological characterization and mechanical properties. It was found that increasing the proportion of ENR50 and STR5L at 50% produced better mechanical property, however, the elongation at break increased once the ENR50 was down at 25%. Thus, this enhanced the property of the foodstuff conveyor belts compound.
