Item type:Publication, An analysis of total loss and temperature of oil-immersed transformer with short circuit test linear load and non-linear load(2005-01-01) ;Suechoey, B. ;Tadsuan, S. ;Khluabwannarat, P.This paper presents the measured temperature at top oil and on winding at high voltage part, low voltage part due to winding loss. By placing the thermocouples at the bottom, the middle and the top of mineral oil-immersed transformer, the variety winding temperatures are measured. The 3 - test conditions are 1. Short circuit test, 2. Linear load test and 3. Non linear load test. The temperature results show the difference temperature at any parts of the 10 kVA, 380V/220V, 3 phase, Dyn11 and ONAN ventilating transformer. The results of measured temperature will be compared with one another to get the difference temperature. If that temperature is higher than the rated temperature of insulator in transformer, its lifetime will be shorter. Finally, the result will be analysed about the relations among heat at any part and are useful for design, correction and protection of the transformer by heat. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Oil-immersed transformer temperature monitoring by ANSI/IEEE C57.91 model(2007-12-01) ;Maleewat, P. ;Tadsuan, S. ;Saelee, V.This article presents the development of a 3-phase oil immersed transformer temperature monitoring equipment. The developing prototype employs ANSI/IEEE C57.91 standard mathematical model to calculate the hottest spot of the transformer winding, and use the AT89CS8252 MCS51 microcontroller for an implementation. Main components of the newly developed prototype consists of input sensors, MCS51 microcontroller, and 7-segment display. Input sensors are RTD (PT100), CT and PT. An output display is 7-segment displaying transformer current, voltage, ambient temperature, top-oil temperature and hot-spot temperature. Test results show that measuring temperatures obtained from the new prototype are close to those from the conventional standard measuring instruments (CSI). As a result, transformer industries can find the benefits of the developing prototype of gathering and analysis transformer temperature data. In addition, this equipment can notify operators if their operating transformers are withstanding the overload or over temperature or not. © 2007 RPS. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Comparision of power loss of three-phase induction motor of four techniques with PWM inverter supply(2007-12-01) ;Tadsuan, S. ;Suechoey, B. ;Saelee, V.The purpose of this research is to study the power loss in three-phase induction motors linked with a three-phase PWM inverter by adjusting various fundamental wave voltages of the motors. The experimental procedures used four adjustment techniques as: 1. Constant DC link voltage inverter and adjusting the modulation amplitude 2. Constant modulation amplitude equal 1 and adjusting DC link voltage of inverter 3. Sixstep inverter and 4. Constant modulation amplitude equal 2.3 (over mod land adjusting DC link voltage of inverter. The four techniques were used to adjust V/f-type fundamental waves. Item type:Publication, Failure analysis of dielectric of low voltage power capacitors due to related harmonic resonance effects(2001-12-01) ;Boonseng, C.; ; ;Nakawiwat, K.Apiratikul, P.This paper presents an investigation on the failure of low voltage power capacitors used in the textile industrial located on Thailand. The causes of the failure as well as the failure mechanisms of the dielectric used as the insulation of such capacitors are analyzed. It is found that the harmonic resonance can increase the current flowing through the capacitors. This result in the extra heat, generated inside the dielectric, which exceeds the level under the normal operation. Such heat results in the increase of the partial discharge inside the capacitors. This can eventually lead to the reduction of the lifetime of the capacitors. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings

Guidelines for the impact study and operation of DG for islanding operation should be implemented. The Provincial Electricity Authority (PEA) plays more attention to intentional islanding operation. To perform islanding operation, PEA has established islanding operation and impact study guidelines for DG. This paper presents the development of these guidelines. A case study was conducted to demonstrate the results of both steady-state and dynamic analyses. Thailand is a developing country located at the heart of Southeast Asia, with about 66 million of population as of 2006. The electricity supply industry structure under the government of Thailand has been managed by the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand, the Metropolitan Electricity Authority, and the Provincial Electricity Authority for almost 50 years. According to the 2004 Power Development Plan, the country would have generation reserve at a marginal of 15%. Due to the rapid economic growth and difficulty in building new centralized generating facilities, this has the potential to create a security issue of electricity energy shortage and may develop a severe system blackout. Renewable energy issues have been widely discussed and debated over the country. Although solar energy is the most prominent renewable energy source due to the appropriate geographic of Thailand, it is still considered as a low-density energy source which requires a large area of installation. Therefore, for the long-term investment, wind power seems to be a good candidate because it is quick to install, needs no fuel cost, and is environment friendly. Therefore, this paper investigates the impact of the penetration level of wind power generation to be integrated into the Thailand system. System stability has been observed in various system configuration changes due to different control strategies of wind farms. This grounding system presents a new method to increase grounding resistance of the human foot. The new method can decrease the number of conductors of an unequally spaced grid and it is a supplement to ANSI/IEEE std. 80-1986. It also uses 10-30 percent less grounding grid material for safe and economical design. Item type:Publication, Development of an electronics ballast for a 250-watt high intensity discharge lamp(2004-09-29); ;Tangsrianugul, Warawat ;Pornpojratanakul, VinaiBanjongjit, SuleeThe main objective of this paper is to purpose the newly developed prototype of electronics ballast used for 250 watt high pressure sodium (HPS) lamp. In this paper, concept designs, circuit designs, and the implementation of the 250 watt prototype-ballast are presented. Test result shows that the newly developed model provides not only lower loss compares to the traditional core-coil ballast, but also give the higher system efficiency. Moreover, the overall system power factor is above 0.85 lagging with the expectation of percentage of total harmonics distortion less than 30 percent. Item type:Publication, An analysis and selection of distribution transformer for losses reduction(2000-01-01) ;Suechoey, B. ;Ekburanaway, J. ;Kraisnachinda, N. ;Banjongjit, S.Thailand's medium-sized industries, with demands ranging from 30-1999 kW., currently need to select transformers that provide the highest efficiency regarding transformer losses. This is partly because the energy authorities that provide the electricity have fixed the loss ratio values for transformers. In this paper, an analysis of how to select the suitable size of transformer is presented. The considered factors include efficiency, losses, rating, capital cost throughout the transformer commission time, the cost of the energy, and % interest rate. The analysis includes an example of calculation and selection.
