Item type:Publication, Energy-efficient management modeling towards interior thermal comfort: An architectural element manipulating case study on small detached houses in Bangkok(2010-01-01); Sahachaisaeree, NopadonThis paper investigates the thermal perceptual aspect from daily activities. The research uses the cases of small detached houses in Bangkok to examine the best manipulation of architectural elements to optimally provide thermal comfort in the Thai living context applying a multi-facet research methodology. Two aspects of design manipulation - the spatial arrangements and buildings feature - are examined towards the optimization modeling. The level of perceived comfort obtained from data analysis is used as input in the modeling program to be tested to obtain the model of comfort optimization strategy and to set the guideline of passive design for tropical climate. © 2010 Elsevier Ltd. Item type:Publication, Generative Design Process for Alternative Creation of Architectural Design: Application of Willis Tower Shading Analysis Case Study(2023-01-01); ; Generative design is a type of popular computational design providing a simple alternative design that is important instance to architectural design. This study aimed to examine generative design process to better understanding, and building an instruction set by repeat experiment methodology through case study. Willis Tower Shading Analysis was applied using variables that cause differences design options of nine sorted tubes alternate automation tower of 30-, 60- and 90-meters height. Forty-five design options were generated from generative design process, selected variables used in design options including building area, shadow area, neighbor building overshadowing and park overshadowing. It was found that generative design was a quick, modest and practical process that was easy for appropriate analysis. Additionally, input data and instruction for generating multiple output design options could be set for selecting of an option and the process could be reversed for designers required options. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Energy-efficient management modelling towards interior thermal comfort: A case of composite dwelling features manipulation in Bangkok(2011-12-01); Sahachaisaeree, NopadonApplicability of combined remedial methods for passive cooling depends much upon the most efficient interaction effect among them to provide occupants an optimal living thermal comfort. This research thus aims to utilize the small detached house in Bangkok as a case study to examine the best manipulation of architectural elements to provide an optimal thermal comfort in the Thai living context, and to propose a guideline for thermal comfort design. Information regarding microclimate of Bangkok Metropolis is retrieved from the meteorology office to be utilized as ambient input in the computer modelling. Several design factors - temperature, humidity, and air movement - are then tested to obtain the final model of comfort optimization strategy. Test result indicates that the best type of voids responding to the 90° wind direction is large openings with relatively smaller intake, which configuration is able to increase the interior wind speed up to 1.05 m/s. The optimal type of opening for diagonal wind direction, however, has been the medium size opening with zigzag interior void, which could obtain the interior wind velocity up to 1.5 m/s. The effective range of summer day-time temperature for passive cooling in Bangkok is limited to only 30 - 33°C.
