This paper presents the slot antenna fed by microstrip line with inset U-strip for dual frequency operates in WLAN applications. The rectangular slot antenna is proposed for comparison between with and without U-strip in slot antenna by using three configurations of slot antenna. This antenna is designed for dual frequency used in WLAN system coverage IEEE 802.11b/g (2.4-2.4835 GHz), IEEE 802.11J (4.90-5.091), IEEE 802.11a (5.15-5.35 GHz) and WiMAX of IEEE802.16d (5.7-5.9 GHz). The PCB-FR4 substrate with dielectric constant (ε<inf>r</inf>) 4.5 of thickness 1.6 mm is chose for low cost. The simulation results of these slot antennas are analyzed by using Method of Moment (MoM) from IE3D Software. Finally, the result of bandwidth at low frequency and high frequency of the desirable antenna are 9.76% and 31.6% at frequency range 2.3-2.58 GHz and 4.76-6.34 GHz, respectively.

This paper presents the bandwidth enhancement of rectangular slot antenna fed by microstrip line on the flexible Mylar Polyester film substrate. Asymmetrical conductor strip is designed and inserted in the rectangular slot to extend the bandwidth from 3.06 GHz to 7.2 GHz frequency range. Besides, the rectangular conductor at the end of the feeding microstrip line is introduced for increasing the bandwidth at high frequency up to 12.32 GHz. This improved antenna to cover standard frequency range of UWB (3.1 GHz – 10.6 GHz). Finally, as to reject the frequency band of IEEE 802.11a (5.15 GHz – 5.35 GHz), the line strip at the side of tuning stub is added. In this case, the band-notched frequency from 5.15GHz to 5.38 GHz can be easily obtained.

A compact ultra-wideband (UWB) CPW-fed slot antenna design is presented. The antenna consists of a wide rectangular slot on the ground plane with rectangular-ring shaped tuning stub. The simulation result of the impedance matching for the proposed antenna show the impedance bandwidth, determined by-10 dB return loss of 116 %, coverage 2.94 GHz to 11.06 GHz for UWB applications. The simulation radiation patterns and gain of the antenna at different operational frequencies are presented and discussed.
