Abstract

This paper presented the effect of laptop computer shadowing on UWB propagation in an indoor environment. The frequency responses of the radio channel are acquired by using a vector network analyzer (VNA) over the frequency bandwidth of 3.1GHz to 10.6GHz. Consequently, the characteristics of the UWB channel including the transmitter/receiver antennas, the environment, and the laptop computer shadowing are investigated. As the results, the mean excess delay and the RMS delay spread increase, respectively, in the case of laptop computer. Moreover, the angular power loss is occurred when fully shadowing by the laptop computer. © 2005 IEEE.
