Abstract

This article presents a new technique for improving low-grade sugar boiling station to produce a single grade raw sugar. The proposed modification method is based on a seed production using two-stage batch system with two pans. Daily reports of production of quality raw sugar of about 99° Z during the period before (2011/12 crushing season) and after (2012/13 crushing season) the improvement at Saraburi Sugar Co., Ltd., Thailand, whose crystallization process was modified, are used to validate the new proposed technique. Comparison results show that the proposed sugar boiling system provides more efficient crystallization and less steam and electrical power consumptions to produce raw sugar with acceptable characteristics. © 2014 ISSN 2185-2766.
