Abstract
Power electronics roles in Thailand smart grid applications are discussed in this paper. Smartgrid is one of revolution technologies in electrical power system. There are three important roles concerning power electronics: renewable energy resource interface system, energy efficiency and reliability and stability. Power electronics in high power application is a key technology to develop a next generation of electrical energy system for supporting the trends of renewable energy interface, energy efficiency and electrical system stability and reliability. Promising smart grid technologies and researches, particularly in Thailand, influenced by power electronics are presented.
