Abstract
This proposed paper introduces the application of the inverter air conditioner by using the back to back converter to provide the reactive power during the steady state operation. This technique is used for improving the power factor of the smart home system or to provide the reactive power in the appropriate situation in both of constant reactive power supply and the maximum reactive power supply mode. A 3-phase 38,600 BTU is used for the experimental setup and supported the reactive power back to the utility grid system. The back to back converter is used to with an air conditioner. The propose back to back converter can be controlled using vector control technique for providing desired active and reactive power. The results show that remained power rating during steady state can be use to compensate the reactive power as a function of smart home which can be used to apply with home energy management system (HEMS).
