Abstract
This paper presents the design and development of a measuring system composed of a 12-bit oscilloscope and a program for the evaluation of full lightning impulse voltage parameters in high-voltage (HV) tests which are used for the investigation of insulation performance of HV equipment before installation in the actual system. The developed program is embedded in the digital oscilloscope which is able to analyze and evaluate the parameters of lightning impulse voltage automatically. The procedures and methods for the parameter evaluation used in the program comply with the standard of IEC60060-1. This program was developed based on Visual Basic 6.0 language that passed the accuracy-test with 29 standard impulse lightning voltage waveforms provided by IEC 61083-2. Also, the measuring system can pass the test accuracy of evaluation of lightning impulse voltage parameters with a small impulse voltage waveform calibrator (KAL 1000 Impulse-Calibrator DR. STRAUSS). In addition, the measuring system was used practically in the actual lightning impulse voltage test in an HV laboratory. From the test results, the developed system has promising performance in the evaluation of lightning impulse voltage parameters.
