Abstract
The synchronous generator in low-capacity system is greatly influenced by harmonic. To demonstrate how harmonic influences the generator, this article shows the analysis results of the influence of the harmonic current on the output voltage. The researchers deduce a formula explaining the electromagnetic torque pulsation brought by the theory of instantaneous power, which can describe the reason of generator's shaft vibrations in low-capacity system. The SCADA systems is used to collect harmonic data from harmonic sources and synchronous generators. This article also evaluates the applicability of current filtering methods in view of characteristics of the low-capacity of the power grid system. Practically, it is ensured that passive power filter (PPF) is the best applied for low-capacity system and necessary to meet requirements for IEEE 519-1992 standard and Engineering Recommendation G5/3.
