Abstract
Ad hoc network is a set of mobile nodes that each mobile host is able to move freely and the network is unpredictable topologies transformation. Therefore, the searching for transmission path becomes difficult and complicated. Because each mobile host in ad hoc network acts as a switching node that routes and forward packets to its neighboring mobile hosts (or nodes), hop by hop, or multi-hop. Unlike the conventional mobile wireless networks that all nodes must communicate via the base-station as single-hop. Many proposed routing protocols have been developed for ad hoc network in order to maximize the benefit of bandwidth and network utilization. The Associativity-Based Routing (ABR) is an effective routing protocol that becomes interested. Thus, in this paper, we proposed the modification and improvement of ABR protocol by including the position information of mobile hosts into its algorithm. This approach can reduce routing overhead of route discovery process and increase more beneficial performance for mobile ad hoc networks. © 2005 IEEE.
