Item type:Publication, The reproductive performances of murrah and swamp buffaloes in Thailand(2021-07-01); ; ;Hengtrakunsin, RanchuanThe aimed of this research was to study reproductive performances of Murrah and swamp buffaloes. The data of reproductive performances were collected from 98 buffaloes during period 2001 to 2013 on Murrah farm is located in Chachoengsoa province, Thailand were analyzed to study the effects of difference buffalo types on service per conception, age at calving, calf birth weight and calving interval. The service per conception was significantly (P<0.05) influenced by buffalo type only in 1<sup>st</sup> parity. Additionally, the service per conception and calving interval were reduced by the number of parity increase. The age at first calving of buffaloes in swamp buffalo type was significantly (P<0.05) higher than that of Murrah buffalo (4.16±0.89, 3.79±0.50 years). In case of calf birth weight at all parity, Murrah buffalo was lower than swamp buffalo and non-significant, except 2<sup>nd</sup> parity. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Parasiticidal Properties of Nanoemulsion-Based Plant Essential Oil Formulations for Controlling Poultry Ectoparasites in Farm Conditions(2024-11-01) ;Pumnuan, Jarongsak ;Lakyat, Anuwat ;Klompanya, Ampon; Assavawongsanon, AmornNanoemulsion-based plant essential oil formulations (NEOFs) have shown remarkable parasiticidal properties in laboratory settings, suggesting the potential for practical farm applications. This study investigates the efficacy of NEOFs—comprising clove and cinnamon essential oils (EOs)—in controlling poultry ectoparasites under real farm conditions. We evaluated the impact of NEOFs on ectoparasite populations, egg-laying performance, egg quality, leukocyte profiles in chicken blood, and potential insecticide residues in eggs. Conducted across various poultry farms, the results revealed that NEOFs achieved an over 95% ectoparasite eradication after two treatments, compared to significantly higher ectoparasite populations in untreated control groups. Egg production was notably higher in NEOF-treated flocks, and the feed conversion ratio was improved. No significant differences in leukocyte profiles were observed between the treated and control groups. In contrast, cypermethrin residues were detectable in eggs for more than eight weeks post-treatment. NEOFs achieved an over 97% ectoparasite extermination within seven days post-treatment, with farmer satisfaction averaging 4.83 out of 5.00. These findings position NEOFs as a highly effective, environmentally friendly alternative to chemical pesticides for managing poultry ectoparasites, offering a viable solution for sustainable poultry farming. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Simple and Rapid Synthesis of Calcium Acetate from Scallop Shells to Reduce Environmental Issues(2021-01-01); ;Saelim, Jinnaput; ; Chaiseeda, KittichaiThe search for sustainable resources remains a subject of global interest. Calcium acetate used in many fields was prepared using waste scallop shell as a raw material, and its physicochemical properties were investigated. The waste scallop shells were transformed to calcium acetate compounds by reactions with four acetic acid concentrations at ambient temperature until the completely dried powder is obtained. The maximum yield of 87% with short reaction time at a low temperature was observed in the reaction of 60%w/w acetic acid with scallop shells. Thermal transformation reactions of all prepared calcium acetate samples revealed temperature conditions for heating to produce other advanced materials. FTIR and XRD results confirmed the purity and solid phase of all prepared calcium acetate samples, and they were compared with those of literatures and found to be well consistent. The obtained timber-like particles have different sizes depending on the acetic acid concentration. This work reports an easy and low-cost method with no environmental effect to produce cheap calcium products to be used in the industry.1
