Abstract
This paper presents practical Switched Mode Power Supplies (SMPS) compensation circuit design based on the frequency response method. The design is aided by MATLAB, which facilitates the formulation of transfer functions, construction of Bode plots, and calculation of compensation circuit component values. Design examples are given for a buck and a boost converters. Experimental results obtained from the prototype converters show good output voltage regulation and fast transient response to a step-load change, confirming the practicality and validity of this design method.
