Item type:Publication, A quasi-experimental study of lab rotation integrated with generative AI and peer code review model to enhance students’ critical thinking and academic resilience in introductory programming(2026-01-01) ;Zheng, Weidong; Lab rotation provides a dynamic and interactive learning environment; generative artificial intelligence can help novices overcome learning challenges; and peer code review offers a collaborative learning environment. This study investigates how incorporating these designs into a new instructional model can enhance students’ critical thinking and academic resilience. A total of 83 first-year college students participated in the experiment, which lasted 6 weeks. The students were from two classes, majored in Educational Technology, and were enrolled in an introductory programming course titled ‘C Programming’. Class 1 was randomly selected as the control group and Class 2 as the experimental group. The experimental group and the control group were taught by the same teacher. The control group employed the traditional programming teaching method, whereas the experimental group utilized a new instructional model comprising four learning stations: instruction, lab, teacher-led, and review stations. All participants took a critical thinking test and an academic resilience questionnaire before and after the experiment. The results showed no significant difference in critical thinking and academic resilience between the pretest groups. In contrast, the post-test results showed that the experimental group’s critical thinking and academic resilience significantly outperformed those of the control group. The findings highlight the effectiveness of the instructional model on students’ critical thinking and academic resilience. This study is the first to integrate lab rotation, generative artificial intelligence, and peer code review into the design of a new instructional model for introductory programming and to demonstrate its effectiveness in enhancing students’ critical thinking and academic resilience. Item type:Publication, Empowering Hearing-Impaired Learners for Digital Citizenship: A Thai MOOC-Based Design Thinking Approach(2024-07-08); Dhamanitayakul, ChawapornIn today's technology-driven world, digital citizenship is vital in fostering responsible technology use and essential skills for learning, problem-solving, and community participation. However, a significant focus emerges within digital citizenship—empowering individuals with disabilities. This research addresses this crucial area by spearheading the creation of a specialized Thai Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) meticulously designed for hearing-impaired learners. The core objective is to equip these individuals with indispensable digital citizenship skills for seamless integration and active engagement in digital environments. The study progresses through three key phases. Phase 1 involves crafting the MOOC course to meet the needs of hearing-impaired individuals. Phase 2 develops a course on the Thai MOOC platform, using the MOOC-based Design Thinking Model and universal design learning principles. Phase 3 assesses 20 hearing-impaired learners in the "Utilizing Online Media as Digital Citizenship Course." The research reveals two significant outcomes, highlighting the course's impact. First, an evaluation of digital media quality and learning activities was conducted by five experts with 15 to 30 years of experience in the field, the result was an impressive performance rating of 4.56 on a 5-point Likert scale, indicating the course's high suitability for hearing-impaired learners. Such findings validate the precise alignment of the course with its intended objectives. Second, the outcomes of learning achievement tests on the Thai MOOC platform involving 20 high school hearing-impaired learners revealed that 15 learners scored above 70 (passing), representing 75%. The average post-test score was higher than the pre-test, with an average score of 72.05 points. These results demonstrate the course's effectiveness in improving learning outcomes and meeting predetermined criteria, while also indicating that adopting the MOOC-based Design Thinking model has led to the creation of high-quality media that delivers tangible results for hearing-impaired individuals. Item type:Publication, Project-based blended learning for vocational education: Enhancing digital marketing competencies and team spirit(2025-01-01) ;Tan, Linxi; Developing digital marketing competencies and team spirit is essential in vocational education to cope with the digital economy’s demands. Based on the needs assessment of vocational students and related literature research, this study discusses how to develop and implement the project-based Blended Learning (PjBBL) model and evaluates its effectiveness in enhancing digital marketing competencies and team spirit among vocational students. The research employs a quasi-experimental design with 90 students from Tongren Polytechnic College, Guizhou, China, divided equally into experimental and control groups. The experimental group followed the PjBBL model. The control group used blended learning (BL) methods. The learning activity lasted 8 weeks, pre-tests and post-tests were administered using a 5-point Likert scale for digital marketing competencies and team spirit. MANOVA analysis (level 0.05) showed a significant difference in digital marketing competencies and team spirit between PjBBL and BL. The results revealed that while both groups showed improvement, the experimental group achieved significantly higher scores in both areas, indicating the effectiveness of the PjBBL model. Item type:Publication, A MOOC-INTEGRATED DESIGN THINKING MODEL FOR HEARING-IMPAIRED LEARNERS(2024-01-01)Aim/Purpose This study aims to introduce an innovative approach to improving learning outcomes for hearing-impaired learners (HL) within inclusive education settings. By integrating design thinking principles into Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) specifically designed for HL, this research seeks to address their unique educational needs. The study examines the components of a design thinking model within MOOCs for HL and evaluates the effectiveness of the pilot course in enhancing their learning experience and achieving the required test scores. Background The persistent educational disparities faced by HL necessitate innovative solutions within inclusive education. By employing a design thinking approach, educational tools were developed specifically for these learners, with the empathy phase profoundly understanding and addressing their unique needs and desires. This study aims to bridge this gap by leveraging design thinking principles and MOOCs tailored for HL alongside instructional strategies and Universal Design for Learning (UDL) techniques. Methodology The study unfolds in three primary phases: Model Development, Model Assessment, and Model Piloting. In the Model Development phase, design thinking principles are integrated with Thai MOOC development, instructional strategies, and UDL techniques to create the initial model. The Model Assessment phase involves expert evaluations to validate and refine the model based on their feedback. Finally, in the Model Piloting phase, the refined model is tested with learners, and assessments are conducted to evaluate its practical applicability and effectiveness in a realworld setting. Contribution This research contributes significantly to reducing educational inequalities and advancing inclusive education. Item type:Publication, Integrating micro-learning and station rotation blended learning model: enhancing Japanese communication skills of Chinese undergraduates(2025-08-01) ;Hu, Xinyue; In the rapidly evolving language education landscape, integrating innovative pedagogical approaches is essential to meet the diverse needs of learners. This study explores the efficacy of a Micro-Learning Media with Station Rotation Blended Learning Model (MLM-SRM) in enhancing the Japanese communication skills—specifically speaking, listening, and reading—of second-year students at Sichuan University. The research employed a pre-test-post-test randomized controlled experimental design, involving 80 students who were randomly assigned to either the MLM-SRM group or a traditional teaching group. Data were collected using well-established rubrics for speaking, listening, and reading skills, and analyzed through mean, standard deviation, Cohen’s d, and one-way MANOVA. The results revealed that students in the MLM-SRM group significantly outperformed those in the traditional group in overall language proficiency, with the most substantial gains observed in reading skills, followed by speaking and listening. A deeper analysis highlighted significant improvements in interactive communication for speaking, interactive and response skills for listening, and text structure for reading among the MLM-SRM participants. Furthermore, a thematic analysis of students’ open-ended survey responses underscored a positive reception towards the MLM-SRM, indicating its potential as an effective tool for language instruction. These findings underscore the importance of the MLM-SRM approach, which immerses students in an engaging and diverse learning environment and holds significant implications for theory and practice. Item type:Publication, Student needs assessment analysis in e-commerce courses of vocational colleges in Guizhou Province China(2025-01-01) ;Tan, Linxi; ; Cui, JianmingThis study aimed to identify the specific needs of students in e-commerce courses in vocational colleges, focusing on digital marketing competencies, team spirit, learning methods, and course content to support curriculum development and the construction of innovative teaching models. The researcher of this study conducted a needs assessment survey with a sample size of 400 current vocational students. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive statistics to determine the means of 12 items. The results showed that the mean value of items ranged from 3.44 to 4.29, and all items reached at least the need level. Furthermore, respondents perceived a strong need to enhance digital marketing competencies and adopt new learning methods in e-commerce courses. Respondents also showed a need to integrate project-based learning and blended learning compared to other learning methods. A comprehensive student needs assessment analysis towards e-commerce courses has been provided in this study; it could serve as basic information for educators to develop a better teaching model and curriculum in the field of e-commerce education in vocational colleges. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Enhancing Thai General Practitioners' Critical Thinking Skills: An Educational Development Needs Assessment(2025-01-01) ;Daengneam, Bancha; Purpose. This study examined Thai general practitioners’ (GPs) actual and expected levels of critical thinking skills (CTS) and identified developmental priorities through an educational development needs assessment (EDNA) using the modified Priority Needs Index (PNImodified). Methodology. A descriptive survey was conducted with 346 Thai GPs selected through proportional stratified random sampling from five national training institutions. Data were collected using a dual-response questionnaire covering five CTS domains and analyzed using means, standard deviations, dependent-samples t-tests, and a PNImodified gap analysis. Findings. GPs rated their current CTS as moderate, while expected levels were very high. The greatest developmental need was synthesis of ideas, followed by analytical processing and evaluation of outcomes. These statistically significant gaps underscore an urgent need to enhance higher-order thinking skills (HOTS) in GP training. Conclusions. The results confirm a considerable CTS gap, with synthesis as the highest priority. Addressing these deficits is essential to strengthening decision-making and holistic care in Thai primary healthcare. Implications for Research and Practice. The study provides evidence-based guidance for curriculum reform, continuing professional development, and workplace-based assessment. Item type:Publication, Effects of team-based Ubiquitous learning model on students’ achievement and creative problem-solving abilities(2024-01-01) ;Wadtan, Riana; Previously, we described a Team-Based Ubiquitous Learning Model on Cloud Platform Model (PITTA Model). In this paper, we aimed to demonstrate the value of this model by compare learning achievement and creative problem-solving ability using the PITTA model of learning, compare between experimental group and control group by The Randomized Posttest-Only Control Group Design. The sample group comprised students from Bunditpatanasilpa Institute of Fine Arts who were enrolled in the Innovation Information Technology and Communication in Education course during the second semester of Feb-Mar 2023. A total of 50 students from two classrooms were selected using cluster random sampling. The students were divided into two groups: one consisting of 25 students who participated in PITTA model learning activities, and another group of 25 students who engaged in conventional learning activities. The research employed two main instruments: the learning achievement test and the creative problem-solving ability assessment test. Statistical analyses included the use of measures such as mean (x¯) and standard deviation (SD), as well as One-way MANOVA. The research findings revealed that the group of students utilizing the PITTA Model in their learning activities exhibited higher levels of learning achievement compared to the group engaged in regular learning activities, with statistical significance observed at the.05 level. Furthermore, the students who participated in learning activities based on the PITTA Model demonstrated superior creative problem-solving abilities compared to those involved in conventional learning activities, again reaching a statistical significance level of 0.05. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Integrating Artificial Intelligence in Career Counseling based on Needs Assessment of Chinese Undergraduate Students(2025-01-01) ;Zhou, Kangkang; Purpose: This research focused on the needs of undergraduate students for effective career services in higher education institutes in Nanjing, China. Furthermore, the researcher also developed an AI Career Counseling Platform by integrating AI into a student career counseling service to meet the identified needs of students. Methods: This study consisted of two phases. In the first phase, a needs assessment survey was conducted to identify specific needs, preferences, and challenges of 384 undergraduate students selected by a multistage sampling method in Nanjing City, China. In phase two, the AI Career Counseling Platform was developed and subsequently evaluated by a panel of five experts. Results: Key findings from the needs assessment reveal three areas of particular importance to undergraduate students with a strong need for job-seeking counseling (mean score: 4.75), access to an alumni network (mean score: 4.84), and Entrepreneurship information (mean score: 4.72). Based on these insights, the platform Zhidada was developed. The expert panel further evaluated the platform, categorizing it as "Most Appropriate," with an average score of 4.75 for overall quality and technical development and a content suitability score of 4.74. Implications: This research significantly contributed to advancing the AI Career Counseling Platform by integrating students into career counseling services and expert insights, thus laying a strong foundation for enhancing career services in higher education. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Demographic determinants of digital well-being among Indonesian library and information science students(2026-06-01) ;Prabowo, Thoriq Tri; ; Morris, JohnThis study examined the level of digital well-being among Indonesian library and information science students, focusing on demographic factors including gender, age, residency (urban vs rural), geographic location, and grade point average (GPA). Digital well-being is critical in effectively supporting learning in Library and Information Science. This study was a sequential explanatory design. Students from more than 15 universities over multiple regions participated in this self-assessment survey (n = 900). Quantitative data collected through an online survey based on Jisc’s digital well-being scale were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-tests, and ANOVA. Qualitative data from follow-up surveys to selected students were thematically analyzed (n = 30). Positive impacts of digital well-being were higher than the negative ones. Gender, age, geographic location, and GPA affected digital well-being; but there was no difference between residency settings. Generally positive overall digital well-being beliefs were found among the students, with variations in some demographic factors. This study underscores the importance of digital well-being in a digital world. Valuable insights into the effective use of a two-stage survey demographics are provided, aiming to facilitate students in realizing the full potential benefits of digital technology use.
