Item type:Publication, Power quality analysis in light emitting diode lamps(2016-07-25); Lighting system plays an important role in every life to increase quality of life and working efficiency. As population increase, urban area has been grown rapidly resulted in increased energy consumption in every section including lighting system. With the current attention in energy and environment issue, many governments have set policy to increase energy efficiency. In lighting system, conventional luminaire with low energy efficiency has been replaced with newer technology with low energy consumption and high energy efficiency such as light emitting diode (LED). Today, LED luminaire has taken considerable proportion of market share; however, the main concern regarding changing conventional lamp toward LED is power quality. This paper aims to study power quality issue in term of generated harmonics from lighting system consisting of LED lamps. The result indicates that LED lamps generate significant amount of current harmonic and cause a distortion in waveform. Thus, it needs taking power quality issue into account before replacing or installing LED into lighting system. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Influence of wind farm on distribution system: Current characteristics during fault occurrence(2018-01-01); ; ; ; Leelajindakrairerk, MonthonIn this past few years, installation of distributed generator (DG) has become topic of interest in many countries due to rapid increase in energy and environmental issue. Generating power from renewable source has been proposed to compensate fossil fuel that is currently depleted. Wind power is one of the renewable energy sources that gains a huge attention, and many utilities are connecting wind power to distribution system. This number is going to get higher in the near future. Research on influence of wind power on system must be done in order to ensure the reliability of power system. This paper aims to study an impact of wind power-integrated distribution system when fault occurs in the system for various conditions. Many factors capable of changing system characteristics have been taken into account such as distribution system consisting of multi-wind power generation, size of wind power generation, fault type, and location of fault. Distribution system under this study is modeled based on 22 kv distribution network of Provincial Electricity Authority (PEA) in Thailand. Simulation will be done by using PSCAD/EMTP. Result obtained from case studies will be used to analyze and evaluate the effect of installation of wind power. The result indicates that the DG contributes significant fault current to the system when fault occurs. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Internal Fault Classification Algorithm in Power Transformer Based on Discrete Wavelet Transform and Fuzzy Logic(2017-11-15); ;Leelajindakrairerk, Monthon; ; This paper proposed classification algorithm that combination of wavelet transform and fuzzy logic to classifying the internal fault type in power transform. The decision algorithm process, a structure of the fuzzy logic consists of 4 inputs and 1 output. The maximum ratio of DWT at & #xbc; cycle of phase A, B, C is performed as input variables while the output variables are designated corresponding to various types of internal faults. The 50 MVA, 115/23 kV three-phase power transformer has been modelled and simulate to evaluate the performance of proposed algorithm. The results show that the proposed algorithm gives satisfactory results, however, the overall accuracy indicates that this algorithm requires the further improvement. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, A study an impact of daylight with period time on illuminance and uniformity for building(2015-01-01) ;Sripramong, S.; ; The daylight can be applied for lighting system in building to reduce energy consumption. Although the illuminance on the task area can be increased using the daylight but various factors must be taken into account. This research aims to study an impact of illuminance with daylight in term of each time period. The illuminance is calculated with daylight function in DIALux program. In addition, the fluorescent T5 tube lamp is used in simulation. The case study room without daylight (base case) is compared, in term of illuminance, with the case study room with daylight of each time period. The obtained results show that the daylight can increase the illuminance in the building so the lighting system in many modern buildings has applied daylight in order to achieve specific result of energy savings. The obtained results are useful for design of the interior lighting system. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Study of Multi-distributed Generation Behavior when Fault Occurrence in Distribution System Using Wavelet Transform(2016-12-28); In the last decade the number of power generation using renewable energy has been rapidly increased due to the energy and environmental issue. This trend in renewable energy has shifting power generation system from Centralized Generation (CG) to Distributed Generation (DG). With the new power generation on conventional distribution system, Analysis on disturbance must be done to ensure safety and reliability of the system. This paper aim to analyze behavior of transient signal when disturbance occur in distribution system with distributed generation. System under study is 22kV distribution system consist of wind power generation unit. Simulation was done by using PSCAD/EMTP program. The Discrete Wavelet Transform (DWT) is applied for decomposition of fault signal. To evaluate wavelet characteristic when fault occur in the system, Comparison in case of distribution system with and without wind power generation were done. Result indicated that with distributed generation, fault level is increasing and cause a changing in wavelet signal characteristic. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Impact of multi-distributed generation on key parameter in distribution system(2015-01-01); In recent year Distributed generation (DG) has become a point of interest in many countries due to several advantages such as improvement in power reliability, reduction of loss in transmission system, improved efficiency in network and lower environment impact. With this much benefit many networks working on integrate renewable energy source DG to the grid connection. Although it has many advantages, installation of DG in distribution network create several effect on the system. One of major effect is the fault current during a grid disturbance because DG changes the grid contribution to the fault current depending on the penetration level, locations and type of DGs, the operation of the protective system can be affected. In network that already has DG connected installing a new DG in network result in significant chance in fault current. Many research has been done such as effect of connecting DG in distribution network. This paper proposes an impact of multi-DG on distribution system characteristic when fault occur. System under studied is 22-kv distribution network with photovoltaic (PV) array and Wind Power Generation using PSCAD/EMTP program. Key parameter such as System current, voltage were obtained in simulation. Result from simulation reveal that DG has an effect on distribution system characteristic. Obtaining data from research can be used to design protection system for distribution system in the future.
