Item type:Publication, Efficiency improvement of converter for switched reluctance motor drives by mixed parallel operation of IGBT and MOSFET(2010-12-01) ;Woothipatanapan, Sakhon; This paper presents a method to improve the efficiency of a standard asymmetric half-bridge converter for 3-phase, 12/8 switched reluctance motor (SRM) drives at low speed operation. At that speed range, the converter operates mainly in current chopping modes. The proposed method employs mixed parallel operation of IGBT/MOSFET pairs. The technique is aiming for minimizing the turn-off switching losses of IGBT which are the main chopping switches. MOSFET are placed in parallel with each IGBT in order to momentarily conduct the phase current during IGBT's turn-off intervals. While the MOSFET is on, the voltage across the IGBT is close to zero resulting in substantially decreased turn-off loss. Those fast switching MOSFET later instantaneously turn-off the current with almost lossless. The algorithm is verified by computer simulation and experimental results. The results have satisfactorily shown validity of the proposed concept. Furthermore, performance of the proposed strategy is superior to those of the typical hard switching technique and the conventional soft switching scheme using optimum sized snubber capacitors. ©2010 IEEE. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Small signal modeling of a two-output high-frequency series-resonant induction heater(2014-01-01) ;Kongsakorn, P.This paper proposes the analysis of a small-signal model of two-output high-frequency series-resonant induction heater. There are 2 control loops: power control by duty-cycle and frequency control to maintain the zero-voltage switching condition for all operating period. This prototype controls power by using 3 branches of full bridge series-resonant inverter: one branch for common control and others for each independently two-output whose power controlled by the asymmetrical voltage cancellation methodology. The small-signal equivalent circuit model is confirmed by PSpice with good agreement in simulation data. © 2014 IEEE. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Analysis of three-level full -bridge ZVZCS PWM converter with simple auxiliary circuit(2012-10-02) ;Songboonkaew, J.This paper proposes a three-level full-bridge ZVZCS converter with ZVS turn on and ZCS turn off conditions using a simple auxiliary circuit on secondary side. The primary current is reset in order to reduce circulating current in transformer and voltage stress and spike voltage of diode bridge rectifier on secondary side. The control strategy uses double phase-shift PWM to control output voltage. Therefore, the lower breakdown voltage of diodes, the smaller LC filter. The simple auxiliary circuit can help to maintain output voltage. Also, The experimental and simulation results from a 100 V/10 A, 60 kHz are also presented, which is used to verify the theoretical analysis. © 2012 IEEE. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Evaluation of a three-phase three-level ZVZCS DC-DC converter using phase-shift PWM strategy(2017-09-01) ;Kongwirat, ThammachatThis paper presents the evaluation of a three-phase three-level DC-DC converter which achieves the soft switching condition for all switches in the circuit and uses the phase-shift PWM strategy to adjust electric power at the output side. According to the analysis, the operation modes can be categorized into two cases: in the first case, where the phase shift angle is less than 120 degrees and in the second case, where the phase shift angle is more than 120 degrees. The outer switches of the circuit operate under ZVS condition and the inner switches operate under ZVZCS condition. It has been discovered that under ZCS condition of the inner switches, when the blocking capacitors decrease, they make the voltage across the blocking capacitor higher so the current reduce rapidly. A three-phase three-level DC-DC converter has a maximum efficiency of 93.5% when its load is of 5.7 kW. The results from the experiment have been compared to the results obtained by the MATLAB® simulator in order to confirm the validity of the proposed converter. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, A PSPWM with variable frequency control for a two-output three-level series resonant inverter(2015-08-17) ;Meesrisuk, Watanyu; This research paper presents a two-output three-level series resonant inverter by using phase-shifted pulse width modulation with a variable frequency control technique. In order to achieve the boundary condition of operation under ZVS for all switches, this paper will analyze this condition which depends on operating frequency and phase-shifted angle between the gate signals of the outer switches and the inner switches. In addition, the proposed circuit was designed, built and tested. The test has two cases which include fixed frequency control and variable control method. From the experiment, the fixed frequency control cannot obtain the ZVS condition of switches for all phase-shifted angle values. On the other hand, the variable frequency control can maintain the ZVS condition for all phase-shifted angle values that is in line with the proposed concept. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, A fixed frequency PWM induction shower using the duty cycle(2010-12-01) ;Sanajit, N.This paper presents a 2 kW, 36.5 kHz induction shower using a duty cycle control. The principle of this depends on induction heating from high frequency electromagnetic induction. The high frequency electric current passes through two induction coils connected in parallel so as to induce current at work piece that uses a stainless steel box and transfer heat to water inside it. The control uses the duty cycle which is generated from integrated circuit. In addition, this paper analysis output power and efficiency compared with the duty cycle. The results waveform shown as a ZVS condition is agreed with the theory one. A fixed PWM induction shower gives the rated output power and makes the temperature rise to 41 °C at the work piece in steady state within 2 min. ©2010 IEEE. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings

Item type:Publication, Ozone generator for prolonging fruits using a full-bridge inverter with high frequency transformer(2016-01-18) ;Meesrisuk, WatanyuThis paper presents an ozone generator by using a full-bridge inverter for applying in prolonging fruits process. The phase-shifted pulse width modulation (PSPWM) is used in the proposed circuit for adjusting the output power of inverter. In addition, the concentration of ozone will be controlled by adjusting the operating frequency of inverter. In order to prove the mentioned principle, the ozone generator was built and test in laboratory for prolonging mangoes. From the test, the 250 mg/hr of ozone concentration at 24 kHz of switching frequency can prolong the mangoes life satisfyingly more than the other concentrations and the maximum efficiency of inverter is 93.1 %. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
