Item type:Publication, New design technique of controlling 2 quadrant DC motor drive(2000-01-01) ;Piyarat, W. ;Paraken, Y. ;Tipsuwanporn, V. ;Sawangsinkasikit, W.This paper proposes a control technique for DC motors which can determine the time response of speed, under both no load and on load conditions, in less than 2 seconds. It is operated by an 8-bit binary rate multiplier (BRM) under the PI control process. The motor under test is a two-quadrant type. The BRM 8-bit are generated from 8 principle waveforms by linear combination; finally 256 waves are attained. These waveforms are sent to control the motor with the required speed. It is known that BRM give low ripple-less than 1%-and, hence, less noise disturbance to the system. These BRM can be applied to reverse motor direction with fast response or sudden stop. Energy fed to the motor is also low but gives high efficiency. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings

Item type:Publication, A recognition system for stamped number on non-smooth metallic surface(2009-01-01)This paper deals with the application of moments for recognizing of stamped number on metallic surface which contains the stamped number. It is a complicated task to be read automatically. Recently, the method of modeling and analyzing 3D surface data using a laser-scanning instrument has been presented. The advantage of the combined moment method is that it is able to eliminate some of the problem associated with the Gibbs phenomena[1][2]. This method is also applied to real-time modeling of 3D surface encountered to separate the global geometry from periodic undulations and local anomalies. Afterwards, the image of numbers on the steel block is clear enough to perform numbers recognition. In this paper, pattern recognition based on moment function such as Hu's moment invariants, Zernike moments, and Orthogonal Fourier Mellin Moments is used to recognize the stamped number after analyzing 3D surface data of the steel block. The results of classification rate are satisfactory, and it is possible to implement in an industrial environment. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings

Item type:Publication, The Influence of Measuring Location on Volume Estimation by Shadow Casting Method(2024-01-01); Sukprasertchai, SiwakornNon-contact inspection has dominated various industries for many years, particularly in the field of food and agricultural processes. Volume estimation can be achieved by volumetric imagery or 3D reconstruction. The casting of shadows or shape by shading is an active technique that can be utilized to generate volumetric imagery. By evaluating the length of shadows, the object height data can be achieved, and the transformation of image coordinates to world coordinates is facilitated by means of homography transformation. The width, length, and height of object edges along the entirety of its length are employed to reconstruct virtual slices. The integration of these virtual slices enables the estimation of the object's volume. This research studied the variation of the measuring locations, three different diameters spherical balls 38mm, 50mm, and 80mm are used as test materials. The percentage of errors in volume obtained from all sections by shadow casting were compared to computation volume of sphere formula is approximately -1.6 %, -1.13 %, and - 6.60%, respectively, depending on the size of the object. Furthermore, a visualization-based analysis is presented which has no significant difference. From this studied, it can be concluded that this method is valuable in estimating the volume of axially symmetrical objects. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings

Item type:Publication, 3D metallic surface acquisition for inspection and reading character(2013-11-04); ;Gulphanich, S.Roonprasang, K.This paper presents a real-time implementation of 3D acquisition for reading text and inspection the metallic surface based on light sectioning. A measurement is achieved with a standard low cost CMOS camera. Surface defects are modeled as deviations in the local relief from a smooth approximation of the surface. Discrete orthogonal bases are used to generate a smoothed global model of the surface structure. Modified discrete Tchebychev polynomials are used as orthogonal basis functions to perform least square approximations of the geometry. QR decomposition is used to obtain a unitary basis, minimizing the numerical effort when modeling surfaces. The result of test measurements on copper sheets in a production environment is presented to demonstrate the surface inspection. Another result is shown the readable character on the textured metallic surface after the proposed processing. A prototype system of the laser scanning instrument can be implemented in a production line as well. © (2013) Trans Tech Publications, Switzerland. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Volume estimation of symmetrical object using laser light sectioning(2014-01-01) ;Gulphanich, Suphan ;Songthai, MaethineeThis paper presents a method to estimate volume from three-dimensional characteristics of symmetrical objects by computer vision system using laser light sectioning. The camera captures the image of laser line projected on the object moving on a conveyor. The captured images can be estimated the widths and heights at various locations along the object. The area of cross section can be integrated to be volume of the object. The image data is extracted from the structured laser light projecting on the surface. After image pre-processing, the laser profile is calculated the center of gravity in order to extract the image coordinate. The homography transformation is used to transform the extracted coordinate to the real world distance (in metric system). A metric vision based on light sectioning for estimating the volume of symmetrical shapes (rectangular shape and circular shape) of the object were tested. The accuracy of estimation can apply in the automatic size grading on the conveyer as well. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Measuring geometric mean diameter of fruits and vegetables using light sectioning method(2009-01-01); This paper proposes a new technique to measure the geometric mean diameter (GMD) of selected fruits and vegetables calculated from a three-dimensional (3D) image by computer vision system (CVS). From a single view of the image data a linear laser light projects onto the top of the sample through the center in order to mark the measurement points. The planar metrology and the measurement between planes are employed to calculate the width and height of the samples. Homography transformation and cross ratio are the mathematical parameter applied to calibrate the image data to real world distance (in metric system). GMD of sample can be calculated from a single view of the image with this technique. The percentage of error of GMD obtained from CVS compared with GMD measurements using vernier calipers is approximately 0.03-5.14 depending on the shape of the objects. However, it can be concluded that this technique is worthwhile for measuring GMD of symmetrical objects.
