    A Comparative Assessment of Life-Cycle Greenhouse Gas Emissions from Hypothetical Electric Airport Transportation Services in Thailand

    Global warming is an increase of average temperature in the atmosphere, which causes adverse effects on the environment. Carbon dioxide (CO<inf>2</inf>) from transportation sector is one of the main contributors of the overall greenhouse gases (GHG). To cope with this issue, electric car services are increasingly seen as popular alternative modes of green transportation especially for urban cities as it is more flexible, more environmentally-friendly, and less expensive than the use of conventional vehicles. The study analyses and compare the hypothetical electric car systems from airport transportation services. Center of Environmental Science of Leiden University (CML) 2001, the Life Cycle Impact Assessment (LCIA) method, is applied to convert life cycle inventory data into environmental impacts. The observed results showed that the electric shuttle bus had the highest impact in global warming potential (GWP) compared to other transportation types. Alternatively, this Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) study that evaluated different transportations provided important information for decision makers on quantifying the differences between each scenario.

    Greenhouse gas emissions comparison of solid waste transportation system: A case study in Thailand

    During the early periods of civilization, solid waste was conveniently collected transported and disposed because of the low number of population. However, waste generation is expected to increase becasue of rapid population growth and consequently shows an increase in solid waste collection, transportation, and disposal. Waste transportation planning is a difficult task due to the issues of the increasing numbers of garbage vehicles and the fluctuation of fuel prices as well as the cost-effectiveness and health and environmental impacts. An unsustainable waste collection and transportation is heading towards a variety of indirect human health impacts. Accordingly, the vehicle routing problem (VRP) plays a significant role in the field of waste collection and transportation system. This study compares three different Life Cycle Assessment (LCA approaches for the waste transport in Ladkrabang, Bangkok, Thailand. The three scenarios are modelled using GaBi 7 software tool and results are presented based on the CML 2001. The assessment outcomes indicated that the routing optimization with diesel and electric garbage trucks could significantly reduce the GWP impact by 8.51% and 66.44% compared to the baseline scenario, respectively.

    Preliminary Life Cycle Analysis of Greenhouse Gas Emissions at Transportation Phase of a Beverage Drink for Green Logistics

    As the transportation sector is one of the main emitters of large quantities of pollutions to the atmosphere, industries have been trying to cope with this issue and launch many campaigns or projects to reduce air pollutions. In any industries around the world, an electric vehicle is a part of alternative transportation mode which has recently experienced considerable growth. The paper aims to evaluate energy consumption and greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions of the food sector for the entire life cycle and particularly focusing on green road transportation. The focus of the analysis covers the mango powder drink mix transportation, distribution, and disposal aspects, especially for road transportation. The observed results showed that the electric vehicles have emissions reduction potential and consequently showed low impacts in Global Warming Potential (GWP) impact category. The environmental impact assessment identified that the primary source of energy use and GHG emissions was the transportation process from Hong Keaw plantation to King Mongkut's Institute of Technology Ladkrabang (KMITL) (0.025 kgCO2eq).

    Resource Scheduling Problem in Distribution Center

    Due to the rapid growth of the retail shop trend recently, the Distribution Center (DC) or warehouse had become to be a vital part in the supply chain in order to store goods from multiple suppliers and deliver to multiple retailers. Cross docking is a relatively the logistics technique used in the DC in order to move materials from inbound trailers to outbound trailers as quickly as possible. From the following problem, an ineffectual DC management leads to the resources utilization problem such as machine, forklift, industrial trucks, etc. The main objective of this research is to study and solve the scheduling problem of the usage of the forklift in the Cross docking of DC and to manage the inbound and outbound docks in order to minimize Tardiness jobs, and also to maximize the efficiency of machine utilization. This study has provided the scheduling, comparison from genetic algorithm and heuristic method. As the result came out we found that the forklift scheduling by the genetic algorithm method is given the better management result better than heuristic method.

    Decentralized Network Building Change in Large Manufacturing Companies towards Industry 4.0
    In complex industrial ecosystems together with an increasing global competition, success depends on a complete value chain transformation. The use of Industry 4.0 standards is therefore gradually emerging in many industries to ensure significantly higher factory productivity, flexibility, and efficiency. However, selected methodology and results are required to be studied to fully understand the digital transformation as well as its characteristics. This research presents a system conversion study, from centralized to decentralized systems, using epidemic membership protocols on a large manufacturing company towards Industry 4.0. The system conversion shows that the epidemic membership protocols provide an ability to rewrite the structure of the overlay topology. The experimental results are presented in two categories: (1) convergence speed and (2) accuracy of the epidemic applications. These provide the information for the performance guarantee of the global aggregate computation. The expectation of this paper is to present a preliminary study focusing on the system conversion methodology in the context of Industry 4.0. There are several recent publications based on Industry 4.0; however, nothing has been done to address any methodologies applied in Industry 4.0 or their simulation results.

    A Comparative of Life Cycle Assessment of a Conventional Van and a Battery Electric Van for an Online Shopping System in Thailand

    The transportation sector is responsible for one of the main emitters of large quantities of pollutions to the atmosphere, which impacts local, regional or global environment receptors. In Thailand, many retail chains have been trying to launch many campaigns and projects to reduce GHG emissions together with offering the best convenience services to serve customers' needs. By promoting an online shopping system for the workplace, this will mitigate even more of the air pollutants than the conventional online shopping system, where the products are delivered to customer's doorsteps. This study aims to investigate and compare the impact of different vehicle technologies for an online shopping using Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) methodology especially in the vehicle use phase. The observed results showed that the electric van has the potential of reducing emissions and consequently showed lower impacts in most impact categories.

    Epidemic Algorithms on Distributed Systems Towards Industry 4.0
    In today changing world, with the advent of technology and a challenging competition, reliable information methodologies and tools are required to collaborate big data and various components in both vertical and horizontal integrations over the value chain. Cyber-Physical System or CPS is one of available technologies serving industries' needs and desires. However, its important properties are required to be investigated to fully understand its characteristics and performance. This study present an epidemic-based communication and the results show that the base station could obtain the higher accuracy of the information while the method was adopted.

    Sustainable Practices and Environmental Impact Assessment in a Lifelong Learning Center

    Climate change is a major environmental challenge that should be mitigated by all parties concerned. One such party is the KMITL Lifelong Learning Canter (KLLC) which has committed to reducing its environmental externalities, including the impact of its operations on climate change. The idea of a “green KLLC” seeks to reduce adverse effects on the environment and improve indoor environmental quality through the use of natural building materials and biodegradable products, resource conservation (water, energy, paper), responsible waste disposal, and eco-friendly practices (recycling). To reduce these environmental externalities, the environmental performance of the KLLC canter should first be examined to establish measures for improvement. However, accurate evaluations of the environmental impact of Lifelong Learning Centers (LLCs) are uncommon because of the lack of data and the immaturity of appraisal methodologies. With a case study of KLLC, the newest LLC in Thailand, this paper appraises the environmental effects, thus setting benchmarks for subsequent studies. The appraisal demonstrates that the KLLC community can significantly reduce the environmental consequences by using e-certificates, motion sensor light installation, banana leaf packaging, solar cell installation, and carpooling systems. Although e-certificates and banana leaf packaging are the most cost-effective methods of implementation, the adoption of carpooling systems and electric vehicles demonstrates the highest potential for Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions reduction. The paper showcases how KLLC can reduce its GHG emissions and wastes, thus turning into a more environmentally sustainable business.

    Epidemic System Conversion on Industry 4.0's Perspective under Dynamic Network Condition
    In large-scale manufacturing operations with increasing global competition, success depends on a reliable network system to complete a value chain transformation. The use of the Industry 4.0 paradigm is increasingly evolving in many areas of different industries to ensure significant increases in factory productivity, flexibility, and efficiency. Consequently, the system transformation requires a shift from single automated node to a fully integrated system. However, selected methodology and results require study to fully understand the digital transformation as well as its characteristics. This investigation presents a system conversion study, between centralized and decentralized systems, using the concept of epidemic membership protocols in the context of Industry 4.0. This paper proposes the method based on membership protocols focusing on the system conversion methodology under dynamic network condition. The experimental results show that the proposed method provides an ability to rewrite the structure of the network topology with optimal accuracy of epidemic application.

    Applying epidemic algorithm for financial service based on blockchain technology

    Our global market is emerging transformation strategy that can make the difference between success and failure. Smart contract systems through developments of technological innovations are increasingly seen as alternative technologies to impact transactional processes significantly. Blockchain is a smart contract protocol with trust offering the potential for creating new transaction platforms and thus shows a radical change of the current core value creation in third parties. These results in enormous cost and time savings and the reduced risk for the parties. This study proposed a method to improve the efficiency of distributed consensus in blockchains using epidemic algorithm. The results showed that epidemic protocols can distribute the information similar to blockchain.
