Item type:Publication, Aircraft Altitude Control Based on CDM(2019-05-09) ;Asa, Ekachai; This research presents the controller design for aircraft altitude control based on Coefficient Diagram Method (CDM). The controller, which is designed by CDM, guarantees a good balance of stability, response and robustness. The simulation results of the proposed control system show that the controller is able to control the aircraft altitude as desired and has a disturbance rejection behavior and the response speed can be easily adjusted by specification of the equivalent time constant. Item type:Publication, Two-degree-of-freedom simple servo adaptive control for SCARA robot(2010-12-01); ;Sowannee, NopponNaksuk, NirutThis paper presents an application of two-degree-of-freedom simple servo adaptive control scheme in controlling DDR-type two-links SCARA robot. The SCARA robot is widely used in industries and it is generally desired to control its movement along some periodic trajectory to perform some repeated tasks. A proper control scheme is therefore required. Among various control techniques, two-degree-of-freedom simple servo adaptive control scheme possesses a prominent aspect in that it can force the systems to follow the desired reference model while the servo gain can be freely assigned to tune the disturbance rejection property independently. The simulations in applying the two-degree-of-freedom simple servo adaptive control scheme to control the SCARA robot are demonstrated to verify the applicability and effectiveness of this control technique. Item type:Publication, Robust hybrid control for two-dimensional handheld micromanipulator(2014-01-01) ;Boksuwan, Sungwan; ;Kanamori, ChisatoAoyama, HisayukiThis paper proposes a two-dimensional handheld mi-cromanipulator oriented toward bio cell handling. The micromanipulator consists of two flexible links, each of which is constructed with a parallel beam structure. Electric coils and permanent magnets are used to produce an actuator to form double drivers. An explicit model predictive control combined with a PID controller called a robust hybrid control is proposed not only to achieve robust tracking performance, but also to dampen the vibration of the mechanism. Item type:Publication, Tremor suppression for handheld micromanipulator using robust hybrid control(2014-12-16) ;Boksuwan, Sungwan; ;Kanamori, ChisatoAoyama, HisayukiThis paper proposes a suppression of tremor effects, fluctuations caused by a user's hand, on a handheld micromanipulator by means of a robust hybrid control scheme. The proposed control scheme is a combination between an explicit model predictive control and a PID controller. The advantage of the PID controller is a robustness. It is suitable for handling the holding angle changes. The explicit model predictive control provides the excellent tracking performance. In addition, the robust hybrid control can handle tremor effects successfully. The control objective is to achieve robust tracking performance, to dampen the vibration of the mechanism and to suppress a disturbance, a tremor. Item type:Publication, An approach for room-temperature multi-directional forging of pure titanium for strengthening(2018-07-25) ;Miura, H. ;Kobayashi, M. ;Aoba, T. ;Aoyama, H.Commercially pure Ti grade 2 was multi-directionally forged (MDFed) at room temperature. MDFing could be successfully carried out without any cracking to a cumulative strain of ΣΔε = 2.0. Ultrafine-grained (UFGed) structure gradually developed with increasing cumulative strain mainly by mechanical twinning and kinking. An average grain size of approximately 400 nm was attained. The mechanical properties were drastically modified by the grain refinement and a superior balance of tensile strength and ductility, 710 MPa and 21%, was achieved. Additional cold rolling of the UFGed Ti possessed further better mechanical properties of 930 MPa tensile strength and 19% ductility. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Code generation of fractional filters for dsPIC microcontrollers(2011-12-01) ;Boksuwan, SungwanThe goal of code generation is to programmatically transform the structure and implementation of some algorithms into a particular code platform. In this paper, the platform of the dsPIC microcontrollers is targeted in order to take an advantage of the DSP engine built in such microcontroller for implementing digital filters and a PID controller. However, the defining and initializing process of fractional filters and the controller built in the library consumes a lot of developing time and probably causes human errors. Four MATLAB platform functions called tf2iircanonic, tf2transposed, tf2fir, fractionalPID are proposed to address those inconveniences. Item type:Publication, Parameters tuning effects in the model predictive control of an inverted pendulum(2011-12-01) ;Chunhacha, PongtornThis paper investigates the applicability of using model predictive control for an inverted pendulum system and observes its parameters tuning effects. The linear model predictive control under an input saturation constraint is applied to the nonlinear model of the inverted pendulum on cart system. Sampling period and prediction horizon are varied for investigating their influences to the system's stability and performance. Item type:Publication, Robust real-time model predictive control for torsional vibration system(2012-01-01) ;Boksuwan, SungwanIn this paper, explicit, robust Model Predictive Control (MPC) is proposed for the control of a two-mass system in order to achieve not only good tracking performance and load-change effect rejection, but also low torsional vibration, when the measurement noise contains outliers. The control structure presented in this paper is based fundamentally on the combination of explicit MPC and region detection via a self-optimizing variable. In addition, the well-known Kalman filter is replaced by the robust Kalman filter to deal with the outlier signals. Item type:Publication, Internet based crossover robot remote control competition among Asian countries - Development of practice based innovative education methodology, Phase V(2012-10-23) ;Xu, C. ;Ming, A. ;Kanamori, C. ;Aoyama, H.Li, H.We introduce 2011's progress and achievements of an internet based crossover robot remote control competition between Japan and China, Thailand, and Taiwan respectively. The competition project has two subjects: the competition itself and the student-student communication and cooperation. The basic competition mode is a remotely controlled robot via the internet cooperates with a locally controlled robot to finish a specified task and, as a unique feature of the project, the studentstudent communication and cooperation is trained through a crossover team organization style that each team is organized by two groups from different universities and the team members required to cooperate with each other via the internet to make robots and deal with competition affairs. Our experience shows the competition benefits not only students' technical skills but also their various no-technical skills and is expected to promote the development of a practice based university education methodology in the future. © 2012 IEEE. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Internet based crossover robot remote control competition among Asian countries: Development of practice based innovative education methodology, phase III(2010-11-29) ;Xu, C. ;Ming, A. ;Kanamori, C. ;Aoyama, H.Li, H.We report the 3<sup>rd</sup> year's progress of an internet based crossover robot remote control competition which is an international cooperative educational project among Japan, China, Thailand, and Taiwan. In 2009 we proposed a new competition model called "Cargo loading via internet based cooperation" in which a locally controlled humanoid robot and a wheeled mobile robot under remote control cooperate with each other to search for and find some cargos, then load them on the mobile robot or put them into a cargo box. The unique of the project is that everything concerned with the competition, e.g. the competition rules, the detailed technical problems, etc., are discussed and solved by students themselves from different partner universities via the internet based cooperation. The demonstration of the proposed competition between UEC and partner universities proves the project helps to improve students' practical ability, creative thinking, good teamwork spirit, and communication skills in English, etc. © 2010 IEEE.
