    This study explores how physical space and activity programming in common areas impact social adjustment among elderly residents in a non-profit nursing home in Thailand. It evaluates social adjustment levels, residents’ opinions about the importance of common areas, and satisfaction with both spatial and activity aspects to assess how these environments support residents’ adaptation and well-being in the nursing home. This quantitative study surveys 35 residents. Although the sample size is modest, it represents the entire population at the nursing home who are physically able to utilize these spaces, making it both contextually appropriate and representative. The survey assessed four domains: social adjustment; common area functionality (including social interaction, relationship building, activity socialization, and usage frequency); environmental satisfaction (covering spatial design, atmosphere, organized activities, and amenities); and demographic data. Descriptive statistics revealed that approximately half of the participants demonstrated a good level of social adjustment. Residents agreed on the importance of common areas in fostering interpersonal connection and engagement, though usage frequency remained moderate. Satisfaction with environmental elements was consistently high. The findings underscore the essential role of well-designed common areas in promoting social integration and emotional well-being. Design features such as layout flexibility, accessible pathways, and adaptable seating arrangements were identified as key contributors. The study offers valuable guidance for policymakers and architects in creating age-friendly environments that enhance the quality of life in the nursing home.

    A Systematic Literature Review of Architecture Fostering Green Mindfulness
    Green mindfulness seems to play an important role in promoting sustainability in architecture, but discrete areas of knowledge are still widely unknown. This study aimed to explore the publications that exist on the nexus between green mindfulness and architecture, and to find the architectural features that tend to foster green mindfulness. The study conducted a systematic literature review by searching publications from databases including Scopus, Google Scholar, and Thai Journals Online in September 2022. Five authors—one architectural researcher, two architectural professors, and two architects—independently reviewed the full-length articles to confirm their accuracy and objectivity. Eight articles were selected for examination by descriptive analysis showing the publication year, source, and citations of the articles. Thematic analysis was used to find the characteristics of the architectural atmosphere with the potential for fostering green mindfulness. Finally, only one study was found that was truly concerned with architecture and green mindfulness. This publication showed that mass and volume are associated with biophilic design, fascination with biophilic design, and affiliation with biophilic design. Material and object refer to natural material; light is in reference to natural light; and landscape and viewpoint suggest plants, greenery, and natural views, while details regarding color and sound were not explored.

    Strategic Approach of Reverse Logistics Management for Recyclable Waste and Transportation: A Systematic Review
    (2026-01-01)

    Strategic reverse logistics management is a key driver of sustainability in supply chains, where challenges in recyclable waste must be aligned with transportation systems to achieve optimal outcomes. A systematic review using the PRISMA methodology was conducted in December 2024 by searching Scopus, Google Scholar, and Thai Journals Online to examine the global research landscape and the strategic approaches applied in reverse logistics for recyclable waste and transportation. Analysis of 32 publications shows a steady rise in research, with most studies in Asia and dispersed across multiple journals, reflecting the field’s multidisciplinary nature. Four strategic approaches were identified. Model-driven approaches demonstrate strong capability through mathematical, computational, conceptual, and hybrid models, achieving reductions of 44% in climate impacts and 34% in costs. Technology-driven approaches contribute innovations to enhance battery transport safety. Exploratory approaches reveal contextual policy gaps and financial limitations. Hybrid approaches can improve efficiency and reduce CO<inf>2</inf> emissions. The future development of hybrid approaches still offers substantial room for broader application and deeper integration. This review supports the development of more effective systems, policies, and future research.

    A Content Analysis of Architectural Atmosphere Influencing Mindfulness through the Lens of Instagram
    (2023-07-01) ; ; ;
    Phaibulputhipong, Prima
    Mindfulness is a psychological construct that enhances sustainable behaviors, environmental behavior, environmental consumption, mindful consumption, and water and energy sustainable consumption. The state of mindfulness can be affected by the determinator of the physical environment as architecture via the architectural atmosphere. The previous studies show that the discrete areas of knowledge between architecture and mindfulness are still widely unknown. However, image-centered social media platforms such as Instagram seem to be able to provide big data for studying people’s perceptions of architecture. Thus, this study aims to describe the concept design and characteristics of architectural atmosphere in architecture images tagged mindfulness posted to Instagram. A coding framework developed from a previous systematic literature review was conducted for this content analysis. A total of 354 architectural images were screened, coded, and analyzed by five architects. The results highlight that the Japanese traditional architecture (59.20%) looks to be the most architectural atmosphere concept that influences mindfulness, following by Biophilic Design (33.05%), and Buddhist contemplative space (20.06%). In addition, it was found that the most common architectural atmosphere characteristic fostering mindfulness performed calm space (73.58%), focus object (54.45%), concrete material (85.71%), hue color (78.17%), hard light and shadow (78.98%), and view with a tree (60.11%).

    The Hotel Architectural Design Factors Influencing Consumer Destinations: A Case Study of Three-Star Hotels in Hua Hin, Thailand
    (2024-08-01)
    Sirirat, Sanawete
    ;
    ; ;
    This study employs a mixed-methods research design to explore the architectural design and service factors influencing consumer choices in three-star hotels in Hua Hin District, Prachuap Khiri Khan Province. Initial data were gathered through in-depth interviews with 60 architects, designers, and marketing experts to identify key factors. These factors were then used to conduct in-depth interviews with 70 Thai consumers and tourists. The qualitative data from both groups were analyzed using thematic content analysis to identify significant themes, while the quantitative data were assessed using chi-square goodness of fit tests to evaluate the significance of the identified factors. Findings indicate that aesthetic appeal, physical comfort, emotional comfort, and security and sensibility are critical in influencing hotel choice. These results provide valuable insights for hotel owners, designers, and marketers, emphasizing the importance of aligning hotel design and service offerings with consumer preferences. These factors will help create positive impressions, enhance satisfaction, and influence consumers’ decisions to choose and utilize hotel services.
