Item type:Publication, Real-Time Monitoring of Hydraulic Oil Deterioration Using a Hall Effect Sensor Under Operational Conditions(2025-01-01); ;Chartpolrak, PijayaThis paper presents a method for measuring hydraulic oil degradation by detecting metal particle flow using a permanent magnet's magnetic field and monitoring voltage changes in a Hall effect sensor (HES). Degraded hydraulic oil containing increased metal contaminants from component wear exhibits reduced viscosity and higher flow rates. We developed a measurement device incorporating a microcontroller to process data and display contamination levels on an organic light-emitting diode (OLED) screen, enabling real-time monitoring without interrupting machine operations. Experiments measured voltage variations at three system locations with metal contamination levels from 2.5 to 5.0 grams per liter (in 0.5 grams per liter increments). Results showed the HES output voltage varied linearly with particle concentration, demonstrating a maximum deviation of 4.73 millivolts (0.47 %) at 2.5 grams per liter, particularly at the reservoir outlet. This approach helps assess hydraulic oil contamination under operational conditions, offering advantages in real-time monitoring capability, cost-effectiveness, and non-invasive implementation. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Error analysis of temperature measurement system: A case of PT100(2009-01-01) ;Tanachaikhan, Lerdlekha; ; Seangratipen, TawatchaiThis paper presents the study of uncertainty in measurement as well as the error compensation of the industrial temperature instrument under various conditions for precise and reliable results of the measurement. In this study, the temperature calibration system of PT100 was used as a case study. Data used in analysis were collected from 200 values of repetitive temperature measurement in the range of 25 °C to 100 °C using Data logger together with a computer to process, analyze, and collect in database system which was developed from Visual Basic. The efficiency and characteristics of the developed system were statistically analyzed from error, mean, standard deviation, and uncertainty of each measured value to improve the reliability of the instrument which is used in industrial processes. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings

To reduce the time-consuming and improve the reliability of such process, this work proposes an alternative solution by applying the combinations of image processing and Viola Jones algorithm on the facial-employee database. The facial detection and recognition system shows the high accuracy over 90%. The proposed process not only improves the efficiency of the work attendance in term of data-collecting and data-analyzing but also possibly prevents the cheating of appearance compared to the old-fashion processes e.g. signing-paper or Radio Frequency Identification (RFID). - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Application of webcam for inspection of rice grain quality by using image processing technique(2020-10-13); ;Narknam, Namo ;Apichitanon, RuangsitThis paper presents the image processing system for quality inspection of rice grains after sorting process by using an ordinary webcam to ensure that rice grains should meet the quality standards and impurity such as grits, dirt and stones should not be found [1]. Moreover, statistical information of rice grains from image processing could be taken into analysis to enhance the efficiency of the sorting process. Image data analysis of rice grains can be divided into 2 main arrangement conditions, non-overlapping and overlapping. In this study, the experiments to inspect rice grains were applied for 24 samples and 18 experimental designs including the complete and incomplete structures, the overlapping and non-overlapping arrangements, and the combination of rice grains from complete and incomplete structures in equal and unequal ratios. From experiments, it was found that the inspection of rice grain quality by using image processing technique and image data recorded by an ordinary webcam was reliable and efficient. The inspection errors under non-overlapping arrangement condition of complete and incomplete structures of rice grains were not observed. The inspection errors of rice grains combined from complete and incomplete structures in equal and unequal ratios were about 0.8% and 1.11%, respectively. However, under overlapping arrangement condition, it was observed that the inspection errors of image processing would be high by up to 53.82% on average. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, An experimental study of natural lighting for energy conservation using top-up control method(2008-12-01) ;Wangkadilok, Chaichana; ; Tanachaikhan, LerdlekhaThis paper presents the experiment-based analysis of interior illuminance from natural lighting through clear glazed window of a reference room located in Bangkok, Thailand, during February to May 2007 as a case study. The point illuminances measured by photoconductive sensors were collected every 5 minutes and the average interior illuminance from natural lighting were then calculated instantaneously. In this study, natural lighting also aims to reduce the requirement of electric lighting during daytime (7 am-5 pm) of the reference room. If natural lighting alone cannot supply the light at the required value, the electric lighting is assumed to be switched on under top-up control method to maintain the standard illuminance level. The average interior illuminance, which comprises of natural light and electric light, is controlled to be stable at the IES standard level of 500 lux. Nine sets of high performance lamp, 56 lm/W of efficacy, are assumed to supply the light to meet the standard condition. The requirements of supplementary lighting and possible savings during the test months are finally estimated. © 2008 SICE. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Declined angle analysis of shaft using magnetic field measurement(2009-12-01) ;Tanachaikhan, Lerdlekha; ; Klongratog, PanuponThis paper presents the method to develop sensor for measuring shaft rotation and angular decline based on trigonometric and Pythagoras method. Magnetic flux density on the direction of constant magnetic field was measured using Helmholtz Coil as a magnetic field generator and using Hall Generator No. A1302 as a sensor. The resolution of shaft rotation was 1 degree per step and the range of shaft decline was varied from 4 to 10 degree away from the origin which was normal to ground level. Angle declining from the origin which is normal to magnetic field can be determined by measuring the relationships between Hall voltage and magnetic filed. If the shaft which was fixed on Hall Generator was rotated and not perpendicular to magnetic field, the Hall voltage was varied and the results was then transferred to computer to evaluate the angular decline of shaft. It can be indicated that the voltage varies sinusoidally while increasing the decline angle. Despite low costs of system, the method presented in this study was developed with consideration of effectiveness and reliability. Item type:Publication, Application of parallel ladder technique for purging oil residual inside the copper pipe(2011-09-29); ; ;Ganmanee, SuthumTanachaikhan, LerdlekhaIn iron pipe industry, one of the most important problems in manufacturing processes is the great amount of oil residual in copper pipe. This problem can be affected the use of copper pipe further such as difficulty in pipe soldering, pipe rust and leakage. This study aims to demonstrate the use of parallel ladder technique, the simple process with low additional costs, to purge out liquid residual in the pipe after ironing. This technique can improve the efficiency of the manufacturing process as well as increase the quality of the product. Nitrogen was applied in this process with the step-increasing pressure of 0, 5, 10, and 15 Bar. This supplied pressure levels are a function of time which depend on the length of pipe. Nitrogen with specified pressure levels were controlled by 3 sets of control valves which were parallelly arranged. For efficiency test, two sizes of copper pipe which are commonly used for producing coil of air conditioner were used as a case study, Pipe A (diameter of 7.29 mm, thickness of 0.25 mm, length of 10 km) and Pipe B (diameter of 8 mm, thickness of 0.25 mm, length of 10 km). From experiments, the parallel ladder technique can eventually reduce the liquid residual inside the pipe. For Pipe A, the residual was reduced from 1.468 mg to 0.045 mg or 3.65 %. For Pipe B, the residual was reduced from 1.916 mg to 0.054 mg or 7.29%. The average oil residual purged out from Pipe A and Pipe B were 1.42 mg or 96.35%, and 1.86 mg or 92.71%, respectively. It can also be indicated that water and oil residual in the pipe were significantly less than the standard limitation (0.1 mg/m or 30%). © 2011 IEEE. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Application of image processing for inspection of pill production process(2018-08-13); ;Apichitanon, Ruangsit; Weerathaweemas, SongchaiInspection of the external appearance of the pill is one of the methods to check the basic quality according to the standard of Food and Drug Administration (FDA) such as chipped pills, inappropriate sizes, and unclear letter printed on pills. This paper proposes an application of image processing for inspection of pill production process. In this study, the Image Processing principal including the Grayscale Method, Threshold Method, OTSU Method, Bounding Box Method and Geometric Algorithm was adopted to process images from normal webcam camera. In addition, the Microsoft Visual C# 2008 was used for processing the signals by analyzing the output signals of webcam camera. In the experiment, the perfect pill was determined by a cross-sectional area not less than 98% of the standard pill in units of milligrams (mg) in FDA standard. The experiment was divided into three cases: Inspection 100 perfect pills, 100 imperfect pills and 100 pills in 1:1 ratio between the perfect pills and the imperfect pills with the speed for inspecting and distinguishing of 70 pills per minute. From the experimental result of three cases, the error rates were 0.6%, 1.2% and 1.0%, respectively, while the average of process error was 0.93%.1
