Item type:Publication, Comparison of cost and return for durian farmers on Magik Growth wrapping bag innovation to increase the quality of durian production in Rayong Province, Thailand(2025-07-01) ;Thongtem, K.; ;Suwunnamek, N.The results of the study revealed that farmers who did not use the Magik Growth durian wrapping bag innovation had total costs of 37,647.48 baht per rai, resulting in an average yield of 1,420.41 kilograms per rai and a net profit of 164,999.25 baht per rai. In contrast, farmers who used the Magik Growth durian wrapping innovation had total costs of 48,724.58 baht per rai, leading to an average yield of 1,420.83 kilograms per rai and a net profit of 195,068.58 baht per rai. There was a significant difference of 0.01 in the average yield between those using and not using the Magik Growth durian wrapping innovation. Fixed costs and break-even yield also showed a statistically significant difference at 0.05. However, total costs, variable costs, production factors, product prices, net profit, and prices showed no statistically significant difference. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Cost and return analysis of organic and conventional rice production in Chachoengsao Province, Thailand(2020-09-01); ; ;Lepcha, Norden ;Cavite, Harry JayLlones, Christopher AlmorotoThe objective of this study was to investigate the cost and return structures of rice cultivation in two farming systems, organic and conventional rice production, in Chachoengsao Province, Thailand, in the 2016/2017 crop year. The sample included 108 farmers selected using a purposive sampling method, consisting of 58 organic rice growers and 50 conventional rice growers. Survey questionnaires were used as the main instrument for data collection. Descriptive statistics and cost and return analysis were used for data analysis. The results indicate that the cost of production was higher, and output was lower under organic rice farming. Despite this, organic rice farming was more profitable than conventional farming, which was attributed to the higher prevailing market price for organic rice. This indicates the importance of price differences across market segments within the distribution channel and the profitability of rice production between the two rice farming systems. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Production Performance and Adoption Opinion Toward Wet and Dry Farming of GAP and Non-GAP Farmers in Suburban Bangkok, ThailandTechnology adoption requires technical information to support decision-making and encourage broader acceptance. Recognizing the significance of alternate wetting and drying technology in sustainable agriculture, this study aims to promote the adoption of this technology among both Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) and non-GAP farmers in Suburban, Bangkok, Thailand. Data were collected through a structured questionnaire, which gathered information on farmers' cost and return values, as well as their adoption opinions. The collected data were then analyzed using cost and return analysis, as well as stochastic frontier analysis. The results indicate that non-GAP farmers face significantly higher total costs due to increased fixed costs compared to GAP farmers. While there were no significant differences in yield between the two groups, GAP farmers achieved significantly higher total income and net profit due to lower total costs and higher selling prices. Furthermore, the analysis suggests that both groups of rice farmers have the potential to improve their efficiency levels, with non-GAP farmers showing a higher potential for improvement. In terms of adoption opinion, both farmer groups recognize the advantages of wet and dry farming technology over traditional flooded rice farming. This study highlights that the adoption levels of both GAP and non-GAP farmers can be significantly improved through the implementation of best management practices. Overall, the findings emphasize the importance of trustworthy information dissemination to encourage the adoption of wet and dry farming technology, as it enhances farmers' trust in the received information and their engagement with the technology. The study concludes by providing policy implications and recommendations to promote the wider adoption of wet and dry farming technology. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Assessment of farmers’ acceptance, satisfaction, and utilization of mobile application for rice production cost and return in Chachoengsao Province, Thailand(2024-05-01); ; ;Llones, C.Athipanjapong, P.Using descriptive analysis, the results revealed that the rice production database, accessible through the mobile application, incorporates critical variables encompassing plantation areas, variable and fixed costs, total costs, yields, selling prices, income, profitability or loss, and breakeven points. The assessment of acceptance across three dimensions included content, technical and physical attributes, and perceived ease of use, that the farmers consistently demonstrated the highest level of acceptance for the mobile application. In terms of satisfaction assessment, encompassing design, content, performance, and utility, the findings uniformly indicated that farmers expressed substantial satisfaction with the rice production database accessible via the mobile application. Farmers’ feedback underscored the application’s user-friendliness and its potential for aiding production planning in subsequent seasons. Moreover, the facilitating the adoption of innovative platforms, and policymakers can empower farmers with tools to enhance productivity and induce satisfaction and confidence in modern agricultural practices.
