Item type:Publication, A magnetic model of a three-phase switched-reluctance machine using cubic spline interpolation technique(2005-12-01) ;Khotpanya, S.; Kazuhisa, IshibashiThis paper presents a simple model of three phase switched reluctance machine by using polynomial flux linkage equation. The nonlinear function of flux linkage depends on phase current and the rotor position. The model requires pre-calculated or measured input data therefore Finite Element Analysis (FEA) has been used for data collection. Curve fitting method is implemented to model the magnetizing curves. Since the magnetizing curves are smooth and continuous then flux linkage at particular position and phase current can be estimated by using cubic spline interpolation technique. Moreover, this technique can be used to model torque of the SRM. The comparison between proposed model and FEA reveals the model accuracy. © 2005 IEEE. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, A torque estimation method for a switched reluctance machine(2005-12-01) ;Kaewthai, S.This paper proposes the estimation of online instantaneous torque of a 12/8 three-phase switched-reluctance machine (SRM). The torque estimator achieved from the cubic spline interpolation technique. By using this method, we could reduce the need of too many input data which spending much time for data collection. The machine model is simulated in Matlab/Simulink to observe the dynamic behavior and also implemented using ADMC401 fixed-point digital signal processing (DSP) to verify the model. The agreement between simulation and experiment results has confirmed the accuracy of the proposed model and could be applied in various torque control applications. © 2005 IEEE. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Position estimation technique of a switched reluctance motor at standstill(2007-10-01) ;Trakrancharoungsook, K.This paper proposes the rotor-position estimation technique for a switched reluctance machine (SRM). This technique can be implemented with the system with an incremental encoder or sensorless system. The results are the proper starting phase and exact starting rotor position. The phase winding is energized by the narrow voltage pulse then phase currents are detected and calculated to find the rotor position by using the cubic spline interpolation technique. The proper phase is chosen for a starting phase. This proposed idea is done in the MATLAB/Simulink program. © 2007 IEEE. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, A design method of a two-phase switched-reluctance machine(2003-01-01); Torrey, D. A.This paper presents a new approach to the magnetic design of the rotor shape tor a two-phase switched reluctance machine (SRM). The magnetically linear machine design is established by using "flux tube analysis." Flux tube analysis has been used to calculate the appropriate size and shape of the rotor poles, so the new design is guaranteed to self-start in a known direction and provide smoother torque production. The linear model provides a quick solution for the designer before the nonlinear properties of the core are added and verified using finite element analysis (FEA). A curve fitting method is used to model the magnetic characteristics of the machine, A sample design is carried out using the approach and a comparison is made with a three-phase SRM that has the same output. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, A low-cost converter for two-phase switched-reluctance motor drives(2003-01-01); Torrey, D. A.The cost of the electronic drive for a switched- reluctance motor (SRM) is relatively high compared to the SRM itself; this problem is common to most motor drives. However, since SRM torque production is independent of the direction of phase current, the phase excitation can be comprised of unipolar currents. This implies only one switching device per phase is needed. In addition, a high power quality utility interface can be accomplished with only two controllable switches. This paper details the design and operation of the SRM drive and its mating utility interface. The drive is fully regenerative and operates at high power factor with only four controllable switches. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Modeling for PWM Voltage Source Converter Controlled Power Transfer(2004-12-01) ;Douangsyla, S. ;Indarack, P. ;Kanthee, A. ;Kando, M.In this paper, a model for PWM Voltage Source Converter (VSC) Controlled Power Transfer has been developed. A vector control strategy with PI controllers is proposed. This paper studied the PWM Voltage Source Converter connected to an active ac network with vector control strategy. PWM pattern generation is based on a carrier technique. The instantaneous 3-phase voltages and currents are transformed to a 2-axis (d-q) reference frame system [1] which rotates at the supply angular frequency (ω<inf>e</inf>). Thus it is possible to have decoupled control of the active (P) and reactive (Q) power flow and it is necessary to develop a mathematical model for VSC to determine controlling variables. The design and the performance of controllers are investigated. Digital simulation shows the feasibility of the proposed control strategy. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Design of a Single-Stage Single-Switch Power-Factor-Corrected (S 4-PFC) AC/DC converter(2007-12-01) ;Kongthawornwattana, P.; This paper presents the design of a Single-Stage Single-Switch Power-Factor-Corrected (S4PFC) AC/DC converter. The converter under study is an integration of boost and flyback converters. The converter operation is equivalent to its two-stage counterpart with switches in the PFC and DC/DC converter stages turned on and off at the same time. Based on this observation, power circuit and control loop design of the converter can be carried out using standard design equations and methods, after the bulk capacitor voltage has been determined. This design concept is applied to design a 120W (12V, 10A) S 4PFC AC/DC converter. Fxperimental results are given to confirm validity of the proposed design method. © 2007 IEEE. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Switching frequency control based on phase-locked loop for a current-fed parallel resonant inverter(2007-10-01) ;Ponwiangkum, N.This paper proposes a computer simulation in PSCAD program of a current-fed parallel resonant inverter. Even though the circuit parameters such as permeability and conductivity have changed regarding to the changing temperature during the heating period. The proposed idea is able to control the phase difference Δθ between the output voltage and output current to be constant at desired value. The principle of the proposed controller utilizes the phaselocked loop with a phase frequency detector. If the Δθ is constant without any effect from the temperature change, then the output power will be controlled precisely by adjusting only the dc-link current. The proposed idea is verified by the experimental results. © 2007 IEEE. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Analysis of a switched-reluctance generator for maximum energy conversion(2008-12-01) ;Wongguokoon, S.A successful analytical expression for maximum energy conversion in terms of DC-bus voltage and turn on/off angles of a Switched Reluctance Generator (SRG) based on self-excitation mode, single pulse operation is presented. The proposed analytical model, which can describe nonlinear of the magnetic characteristics of a SRG with sufficient accuracy, is the key used to derive the relation of maximum energy conversion with those control variables. Simulation and experimental results are provided to validate the analysis. © 2008 IEEE.
