    How organizational characteristics and employee involvement affect quality management practices in the Thai food industry
    Quality management practices can help an organization thrive in an increasingly competitive global market. Based on a comprehensive literature review, this study identifies organizational characteristics that encourage employee involvement and improve quality management practices. The sample group was comprised of 271 people representing middle management in Thailand's food industry. The variables of employee involvement were intervening latent variables in the relationship. Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) was used to analyse the results which showed that fewer hierarchies of command and decentralized decision making power had a significantly positive affect on quality management practices in organizations. © 2014 Academic Journals Inc.

    Determinants of Thai information and communication technology organization performance: A structural equation model analysis
    (2019-01-01)

    ;
    Thailand 4.0 has awoken many to the information and communication technology (ICT) human resource needs in academic institutions, in research facilities, and industry. To support this, the government has targeted USD 1 billion to train 12,290 research PhDs to serve in 10 key industrial sectors over the next 20 years. The Thai ICT sector that is required to support these goals however has been constantly identi? ed as signi? cantly lacking the skills, knowledge, and expertise to meet the needs of a 21st century, knowledge-based economy. This study, therefore, set out to identify the key variables required to support an ICT organization’s performance. By use of a structural equation model and the PLS Graph software, analysis was performed on the interrelationships of the identi? ed latent variables consisting of knowledge management, human resource management systems, employee competency, and ICT organization performance. The results from the analysis indicated that the human resource management system in an organization is the most important factor, with knowledge management and employee competency of secondary importance to ICT organization performance.

    Assessment of farmers' knowledge and attitudes towards the commercialisation of Tailor-made fertilisers in Thailand
    (2014-01-01)

    ;
    In Thailand, chemical fertilisers provide nutrients that are essential for increasing agricultural productivity but they are expensive, often representing 25% of the crop production cost. Tailor-made fertiliser technology is a new fertiliser application technology that is being promoted to help farmers reduce fertihser costs. This study aims to investigate and clarify sugarcane farmers' knowledge and attitudes towards tailor-made-fertiliser. This study also attempts to provide a better understanding of the effect of farm size on farmers' beliefs and attitudes towards tailor-madefertiliser. Moreover, the findings suggest that further extension of tailor-made-fertiliser practices should include training services for smallholders to improve their knowledge of relevant practices.

    Influence of marketing mix elements on the intention of sugarcane farmers in Thailand to use commercial tailor-made fertiliser
    (2015-01-01)

    ;
    Tailor-made fertiliser (TMF) is a new practice in Thailand that aims to achieve a more efficient use of a fertiliser on cultivated soil. This study attempts to determine farmers' attitudes toward a marketing mix of TMF and to investigate factors influencing the farmers' intention to use TMF in accordance with the marketing mix strategy. A survey was conducted among 387 sugar cane farmers who were interviewed at the Thamaka sugar refinery, Kanchanaburi Province, Thailand. The results indicate that farmers' attitude toward the retailer available over a wide area has the biggest influence on their intention to use TMF. This is followed by their attitude toward stability of TMF product quality, and by whether price is more competitive than other chemical fertiliser.

    How job characteristics and employee involvement affect sustainable quality management practices in the Thai food industry
    This study investigated which employee-related factors affect the application of quality management practices, and the characteristics and dynamics of the relationship between them. This will help business organisations select and design their operating system for their employees. This study used a sample of 271 middle level executives from 74 companies operating in the Thai food industry. The structural equation modelling (SEM) was used to analyse results. Results showed that job characteristics had a positive effect on the application of quality management practices through significant development of employee involvement.

    A comparison of thai consumers purchasing behaviour with the environmental characteristics: Electric appliances market
    (2014-01-01)
    Dansirichaisawat, Ratchaneekorn
    ;
    The purpose of this study was to study three factors of environmental characteristics: Environmental attitude, environmental knowledge and environmental lifestyle that affected the purchasing behaviour of Thai consumers who purchased electric appliances. This study suggested a three-dimension construct of purchasing behaviour: Convenience, efficiency and environmental factor. A random sample survey of 300 individuals was used to verify the conceptual model. Multiple regression and correlation coefficient analysis were applied to examine data. Findings of this study showed that environmental attitude, environmental knowledge and environmental lifestyle had significant effects on environmentally-based purchasing behaviour, environmental attitude and environmental knowledge had significant effects on efficiency-based purchasing behaviour and partial of environmental attitude only one had significant effects on convenience-based purchasing behaviour. This study improves our understanding of how Thai consumers' lifestyle, knowledge and attitudes define their way of behaving to creating green society for sustainable development.

    How intellectual capital, knowledge management, and the business environment affect thailand’s food industry innovation
    (2018-01-01)
    Yaklai, Pimsara
    ;
    ;
    In 2015, Thailand employed nearly 11% of the population in agriculture, which has always been a stable and prosperous component of the economy. Having a rich natural abundance of resources, combined with significant investments in technology, food safety, and research and development (R&D) have helped contribute to Thailand being labeled as “Kitchen of the World.” Given these priorities, stratified sampling was employed to select 246 individuals from the target population. Confirmatory factor analysis was used, followed by a structural equation model to analyze how intellectual capital, knowledge management, and the business environment affect innovation in Thailand’s entrepreneurial food industry. The research survey was conducted using a questionnaire which contained a 7-level Likert type agreement scale. Results from the study revealed that the food industry’s knowledge management capability was the most important factor (0.60), which was also influenced directly by the organization’s intellectual capital (0.44). Of lesser importance was intellectual capital (0.39) and the business environment (0.39).

    Analysis on savings and credit cooperatives efficiency in Thailand: A data envelopment analysis (DEA) approach
    The microfinance institutions in Thailand were considered to be significant as the alternative financing source such as Savings and Credit Cooperatives (SCCs). While these institutions have been intensified in term of cooperative quantity and impact on entire economy, many SCCs' operations have still now been suffered from losses with negative returns and liquidity problems. This research therefore aims to investigate the efficiency of 732 SCCs in Thailand by using the databases of Cooperative Auditing Department, Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives of Thailand and evaluate SCCs' technical efficiencies on production and intermediation model by Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) method. The efficiency evaluation results classified according to the types of cooperatives indicated that state enterprise cooperative had maximum quantity of efficient cooperatives and average efficiency score. When conducting the co-analysis on efficient cooperatives or best practiced cooperatives of each type of cooperative, it was found that private cooperatives had maximum efficiency in term of cooperative quantity and efficiency score. © 2014 Academic Journals Inc.
