Item type:Publication, Phase-shifting determination and pattern recognition using a modified Sagnac interferometer with multiple reflections(2024-02-01) ;Usman, Abdullahi ;Bhatranand, Apichai ;Jiraraksopakun, Yuttapong ;Muhammad, Khalid SaboThis work has implemented a diverse modification of the Sagnac interferometer to accommodate various measurement requirements, including phase shifting, pattern recognition, and a morphological analysis. These modifications were introduced to validate the adaptability and versatility of the system. To enable phase shifting using the multiple light reflection technique, a half-wave plate (HWP) was utilized with rotations at 0, π/8, π/4, and 3π/8 radians, generating four interference patterns. It is possible to observe a distinct circular fringe width as the polarized light experiences diffraction at the interferometer’s output as it travels through a circular aperture with various diameters ranging from 0.4 to 1 mm. Further modifications were made to the setup by inserting a pure glass and a fluoride-doped tin oxide (FTO) transparent substrate into the common path. This modification aimed to detect and analyze a horizontal fringe pattern. Subsequently, the FTO substrate was replaced with a bee leg to facilitate morphology recognition. A deep learning-based image processing technique was employed to analyze the bee leg morphology. The experimental results showed that the proposed scheme succeeded in achieving the phase shift, measuring hole diameters with errors smaller than 1.6%, separating distinct transparent crystals, and acquiring the morphological view of a bee’s leg. The method also has successfully achieved an accurate surface area and background segmentation with an accuracy over 87%. Overall, the outcomes demonstrated the potential of proposed interferometers for various applications, and the advantages of the optical sensors were highlighted, particularly in microscopic applications. © 2024 Optica Publishing Group - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings

Item type:Publication, Virtual X-Ray Diffractometer using Acoustic Wave for Material Science Education(2018-12-19) ;Plaipichit, S. ;Wicharn, S. ;Puttharugsa, C. ;Wanakamol, P.In this research, virtual X-Ray Diffractometer (XRD) using acoustic wave for material science education has been proposed. Acoustic wave with frequency in ultrasonic range has been used to characterize acoustic crystal structures. The dimensions of model structure, which are in order of ultrasonic wavelength region, have been formed by three dimensional printer (3D printer) and cotton swab. The angle of ultrasonic source and detector have been swept to record reflected wave signal of each angle. The peak of each angle have been selected to calculate lattice spacing by Bragg's law and then compared with the implemented structure. The results show signal peaks of each diffracted angle. The experimental results showed that the lattice spacing values obtained from acoustic experiment were in good agreement with the measured values of the implemented structure. This virtual XRD system provide to be an efficient tool for understanding about crystal structure characterization. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Measuring a thermal expansion of thermoelectric materials by using in-line digital holography(2017-01-01) ;Thong-On, ThanyaratIn this paper, thermal expansion measurement of thermoelectric materials has been done using digital holography technique. In the experimental setup, a diode laser, a digital camera and a sample on a hot plate were put in the same alignment, so it is call Digital in-line Holography (DIH). A laser beam was expanded parallel and then propagated through a thermoelectric sample which would be heated by a hot plate from a room temperature to 224 °C. The images of a TE sample were recorded by a digital camera and analyzed data by numerical image reconstruction. From our experimental measurement result, thermoelectric material was expanded with temperature slightly, and its thermal expansion coefficient (COE) was found equal to α<inf>TE</inf> = 2.25 × 10-6 °C-1. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Effect of the carbon dioxide concentration on the Refractive Index of air in a long gauge block interferometer(2020-07-03) ;Kohmun, Kanokporn; ;Ranusawud, MonludeeIn our previous work, four environment parameters including temperature, pressure, relative humidity and carbon dioxide concentration in a long gauge block interferometer chamber were measured continuously for 24 h. The refractive index of air in the chamber depending on three measured parameters was determined using the updated Edlén equation by assuming that CO<inf>2</inf> concentration is constant at 450 ppm. In this study, the carbon dioxide concentration term was added into the updated Edlén equation and four environment parameters including temperature, pressure, relative humidity and CO<inf>2</inf> concentration were measured continuously for 12 h. To characterize the influence of the carbon dioxide concentration on the refractive index of air in a long gauge block interferometer chamber, the refractive index of the chamber contents was determined using updated Edlén equations with constant and with variable carbon dioxide concentration terms. The results showed that the refractive index values obtained from the updated Edlén equations with constant and variable CO<inf>2</inf> concentration terms were equal to 1.000268244 and 1.000268261, respectively. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, The direct measurement of the photorefractive grating on anisotropic self diffraction using digital holography(2014-09-02) ;Plaipichit, Suwan; ; Jindajitawat, PhuminIn this paper, the measurement of grating period in photorefractive anisotropic self diffraction by using digital holography technique is proposed. In our experimental setup, He -Ne laser beam with wavelength of 632.8 nm has been separated and then incident on photorefractive cerium doped barium titanate crystal to produce photorefractive index grating. The transmitted probe beam, which contains phase and amplitude has been expanded and recorded on digital camera. To explore the grating periods, both phase and amplitude of the images are reconstructed by numerical process using computer. Then the grating periods in photorefractive anisotropic self diffraction have been measured. The results show grating periods, holograms and their reconstruction. © 2014 Taylor & Francis Group, LLC. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Preparation, characterization and finite element computation of Cu(Al 1/2Fe1/2)O2 Delafossite-oxide themoelectric generator module(2014-09-02); ;Jindajitawat, Phumin; ;Naenkieng, DaengdeshBoonyopakorn, NarongchaiThe CuAl<inf>1/2</inf>Fe<inf>1/2</inf>O<inf>2</inf> delafossite oxide has been synthesized by solid state reaction method for studying thermoelectric properties and measuring thermoelectric generator output electric power. The Finite Element technique was used to compute the output voltage of thermoelectric generator in applying temperature difference on a single bar and a module model with compared to the measurement results. The measurement results of positive sign Seebeck coefficient confirm the p-type conductor of the sample. The properties of Seebeck coefficient, electrical conductivity, and thermal conductivity are range from 260 to 310V/K, from 7 to16 S/cm and from 2.5 to 3.5 W/cm-K,respectively, in the temperature range of 300 to 960 K. The output voltage of the single bar in dimension 4.2 × 2.5 × 20 mm 3 obtained 0.5 to 3 mV on applying temperature difference from 1 to 10 K closely to the Finite Element result. The computing results of the thermoelectric single bar and module in high temperature reveal the output electric voltage of CuAl<inf>1/2</inf>Fe<inf>1/2</inf>O<inf>2</inf> oxide raises with the temperature and the number of thermoelectric leg increase. In important results, the high value of electric voltage is obtained 0.2 and 0.4 V for the single bar and the module at 950 K. © 2014 Taylor & Francis Group, LLC. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Design and simulation of asymmetric Y-junction beam splitter with controllable splitting based on adjusted air-hole defect(2022-01-01) ;Phongwisit, Phachara; ; ; We report a construction of a new asymmetric Y-junction beam splitter with a controllable splitting ratio and simulate this splitter. The splitter is based on InP, has the area 65.0 µm2 and operates at the light wavelengths 1.48 and 1.55 µm. Under condition of no air-hole defect, the splitting ratio for the output ports 1 and 2 is equal to 92/8 at the both wavelengths. To control the splitting ratio, air-hole defects with different (diamond, square and cylinder) shapes are introduced at the junction between the two output ports. Our simulations confirm that the splitting ratio of the beam splitter can be efficiently controlled by changing the size and the shape of the air-hole defect. The maximal splitting ratios at our operating wavelengths are equal to 10/90 and 14/86 and the appropriate average insertion losses amount to 0.36 and 0.31 dB for all of defect shapes. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Optical parametric amplification in one-dimensional photonic bandgap structures(2013-09-01) ;Wicharn, Surawut; ; Jindajitawat, PhuminIn this paper, optical parametric amplification based on the degenerate four-wave mixing principle in a one-dimensional photonic bandgap (PBG) structure has been numerically studied. First, the multiple scale method was introduced to derive a complete set of nonlinear coupled-mode equations for a finite structure with different inhomogeneous nonlinear coefficients than those used in previous works. This finite structure is composed of 680 dielectric layers, which are alternating half-wave/eight-wave films. The wavelengths of the pump, signal, and idler pulses have been determined from the transmission spectrum, which was illustrated by using the transfer matrix method. The parametric interaction of the pump, signal, and idler pulses inside PBG structure has been numerically simulated by using the splitstep Fourier transform method. The results of the simulation have shown that the intensities of the signal and idler have exponential growth with respect to the number of layers in the medium. Meanwhile, pump wavevector detuning directly affects the intensities of both pulses due to a band-edge phase-matching condition that might be achieved from only one optimal detuning parameter. Moreover, both the amplification gain and the conversion efficiency of the idler pulse have been shown to be dependent on the bandwidth of the pump pulse spectrum. A very narrow pulse, with a bandwidth much less than the relevant transmission peak, enables the highest amplification and conversion efficiency in this medium because the most efficient phase-matched condition occurs in this situation. Finally, the conversion efficiency grows exponentially with input pump intensity for several input signal intensities. Furthermore, the maximum conversion efficiencies directly vary with input signal intensity. © 2013 Optical Society of America. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
