    The technique to generate firing signal of converter for linear DC output

    The firing angle adjustment of ac-dc converter that adjust firing angle proportional to control signal. The dc output voltage is not linear. This paper presents the technique to generate the firing signal for ac-dc converter which has linear dc output voltage. This technique decoded the arccosine value as binary data and save in ROM, before compare with control signal. All digital circuits and ROM were constructed using Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) and Verilog Hardware Description Language (Verilog HDL) so that the proposed technique has small size and ease of implementation. The experimental results show the dc output voltage and output waveform that agree with the design. Moreover, this technique can be applied to multi-output for dual converter and 3- phase system. © 2008 SICE.

    Toward Interoperable SCADA: Node-RED-Based Edge Integration of Heterogeneous PLCs and IoT Devices

    This article presents a novel approach to supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) design that emphasizes interoperability through edge integration, using Node-RED as an open-source programming platform deployed on an industrial edge computer. The proposed architecture integrates multiple-vendor programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and an Internet of Things (IoT) gateway at the edge layer to enable seamless interoperability across local control systems. A lab-scale case study demonstrates the feasibility of this integration, featuring four remote terminal units (RTUs) communicating concurrently with a SIMATIC IPC327G edge computer via standard protocols. Specifically, a SIMATIC S7-1200 (RTU-1), MELSEC iQ-F FX5U (RTU-2), and CompactLogix 1769-L30ER (RTU-3) control an object sorting station, a parcel sorting station, a water temperature control station, respectively, while a UG65 gateway (RTU-4) enables bidirectional data transfer between the edge computer and LoRaWAN devices. The inclusion of InfluxDB alongside Node-RED supports data logging and reporting functionalities. By distributing protocol translation, data processing, and shop-floor supervisory control to the edge layer, the architecture achieves real-time, vendor-neutral data orchestration while maintaining compatibility with a higher-level SCADA master terminal unit (MTU) or cloud system. Experimental results from both functional and performance testing confirm the system’s viability as a cost-effective, vendor-agnostic solution for modern industrial automation, offering a scalable model for multi-protocol industrial environments.

    A multiple-input parallel SC (Switched Capacitor) DC-DC converter and itsefficiency estimation method are proposed in this paper. The proposed parallelconverter consists of two different kinds of converter blocks: 1. a 1.5×step-up SC DC-DC converter employing an input voltage from a lithium battery and2. a novel step-up converter employing an input voltage from clean energysupplies. Since the proposed step-up converter can achieve not only a largestep-up conversion ratio but also a wide input range, the proposed parallelconverter enables us to extend battery runtime, reduction of heat, and so on.Furthermore, concerning the proposed converter, theoretical analyses areperformed to estimate power efficiency. The proposed analysis technique can beextended to the circuit design of other SC DC-DC converters. The validity ofcircuit design and theoretical formulas is confirmed by SPICE simulations.ICIC International © 2009.

    Foundation fieldbus-based laboratory: A case study of Harmonas-DEO system

    This paper presents a Foundation Fieldbus-based laboratory for education of automation infrastructure. Design and implementation of a level-control plant model using multi-vendor field devices is proposed. Harmonas-DEO fieldbus system is described as an illustrative case study for configuring and commissioning fieldbus segment, defining control strategy, designing human machine interface (HMI) screen, and troubleshooting. Fieldbus control valve diagnostics based on the use of Valstaff are also included. © 2011 SICE.

    Design of 5x step-up sc dc-dc converter for industrial wireless transmitter

    In this paper, a 5x step-up switched-capacitor (SC) DC-DC converter utilizing solar energy for industrial wireless transmitters is presented. A wireless transmitter can be supplied by its internal battery in combination with the proposed converter for long battery runtime. A Rosemount wireless transmitter from Emerson Process Management Company is used as a target application example in process measurement. The proposed converter is designed for receiving 1.5 V solar cells and powering 7.5 V connected in parallel with wireless transmitter battery. The validity of circuit design is conrmed by theoretical analysis and SPICE simulation. The derived formulas will be helpful to estimate circuit characteristics. Moreover, SPICE simulation values agree well with theoretical results.

    Parallel 5x step-up SC DC-DC converter for power efficiency improvement

    In switched-capacitor converter, the fluctuation of on-resistance effects power efficiency in proportion to the decrease of output load. This paper presents switched-capacitor (SC) DC-DC converter that parallel-connected to improve the power efficiency. The converter utilizes solar energy for industrial wireless transmitter. It can be supplied by its internal battery in combination with the proposed converter for long battery runtime.     Digital fieldbus-Analog system integration for revamping projects
    This paper presents a system integration of modern digital fieldbus and traditional analog devices for revamping projects. Using temperature transmitter with Foundation Fieldbus technology and power regulator with 4-20 mA control input for temperature control based on a PID instruction of programmable logic controller (PLC) is examined as an illustrative case study. A portable plant model was designed and implemented for real hands-on training. In addition, basic network and device configurations as well as ladder logic program and graphical user interface creations are discussed. Experimental results of temperature control in the range of 40-60 °C verifying the proposed concept are also included.

    Isolated current feedback control for buck converter

    This paper proposes the design and technique for controlling DC voltage of DC-DC converter using isolated current feedback. When testing with different loads [1], the output obtained has good voltage regulator, a wide input voltage range, quick response and safe. This research uses phototransistor to detect output current signal and send feedback with isolated electrical signal to PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) circuit to control the duty cycle fed to switch. Buck converter is a step down voltage converter, which results in the current at output higher than that of input [2]. This research uses output current fed through Opto and select only linear interval current ratio fed to control and feedback. The experiment is performed using Buck-Type DC-DC converter to level the output voltage as desired. Results are satisfying and a simplest circuit. © 2005 IEEE.
