Item type:Publication, Toward Interoperable SCADA: Node-RED-Based Edge Integration of Heterogeneous PLCs and IoT Devices(2025-01-01); ;Kaewchaiwong, Sattachai ;Ukakimaparn, Prapart; This article presents a novel approach to supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) design that emphasizes interoperability through edge integration, using Node-RED as an open-source programming platform deployed on an industrial edge computer. The proposed architecture integrates multiple-vendor programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and an Internet of Things (IoT) gateway at the edge layer to enable seamless interoperability across local control systems. A lab-scale case study demonstrates the feasibility of this integration, featuring four remote terminal units (RTUs) communicating concurrently with a SIMATIC IPC327G edge computer via standard protocols. Specifically, a SIMATIC S7-1200 (RTU-1), MELSEC iQ-F FX5U (RTU-2), and CompactLogix 1769-L30ER (RTU-3) control an object sorting station, a parcel sorting station, a water temperature control station, respectively, while a UG65 gateway (RTU-4) enables bidirectional data transfer between the edge computer and LoRaWAN devices. The inclusion of InfluxDB alongside Node-RED supports data logging and reporting functionalities. By distributing protocol translation, data processing, and shop-floor supervisory control to the edge layer, the architecture achieves real-time, vendor-neutral data orchestration while maintaining compatibility with a higher-level SCADA master terminal unit (MTU) or cloud system. Experimental results from both functional and performance testing confirm the system’s viability as a cost-effective, vendor-agnostic solution for modern industrial automation, offering a scalable model for multi-protocol industrial environments. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings

The approximation to the integral using Bilinear discretization is proposed. The results from simulation show that the obtained response from the bilinear or Tustin method is better than the ZOH method at the same sampling time. An unmanned bicycle uses a dynamic equilibrium model of gravity and centrifugal force in order to control its steering on the purpose to acceleration's control. The linear quadratic optimal controls have been designed based on linear control theory. The initial state responses from simulation for the camber angle and its estimator have shown that even they are started from difference initial conditions, but both of them have been reached the zero state rapidly. For the camber angle rate and its estimator, they reach to the zero state as well. Although, the oscillation in the transient response is occurred. Hence, it concludes that the Linear Quadratic Regulator can be replaced by Linear Quadratic Gaussian for economy. © 2012 ICROS. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings

By the addition of the quadratic derivative of state variables term in the usual standard performance index for Discrete Linear Quadratic Gaussian (DLQG) optimal control as an extra weighting to play the role in this task. The results revealed that the swing of the load can be decreased at numerous requirements with excellence. Item type:Publication, Head-positioning with vibration suppression in hard disk drive systems(2012-04-01) ;Ukakimaparn, Prapart ;Tirasesth, Kitti; ; Trisuwannawat, ThanitThis paper proposed a controller design technique for controlling the movement of the head in the Hard Disk Drives (HDDs) system to any track accurately. The simulation results by modeling the HDDs as a two-mass system with a spring flexure controlled by the optimal H <inf>2</inf> with the derivative state constrained revealed that only these constraining weights are not enough to eliminate the steady state errors. To accomplish this task, the type of the system to be controlled was modified by adding an integrator; then the derivative state constrained optimal H <inf>2</inf> integral servo controller is applied. The HDD head position to any tracks with no offset and the vibrations are also to be suppressed as well. ICIC International © 2012.
