Item type:Publication, Cytotoxic and antibacterial depsidones from the endophytic fungus Chaetomium brasiliense isolated from Thai rice(2022-01-01) ;Promgool, Trinop ;Kanokmedhakul, Kwanjai ;Leewijit, Thianrat; Four new depsidones, mollicellins V-Y (1-4), together with eight known depsidones (5-12) were isolated from the endophytic fungus, Chaetomium brasiliense, detached from stems of Thai rice. Their structures were determined by extensive spectroscopic methods. Mollicellins X, H, and F (3, 8 and 10) showed potent cytotoxicity against the human oral epidermoid carcinoma (KB) cell line, and mollicellin F (10) also showed a potent cytotoxicity against the human hepatocellular carcinoma (HepG2) cell line. Besides, mollicellin B (11) exhibited cytotoxicity against the colorectal adenocarcinoma (HT-29) cell line. Moreover, most of the isolated depsidones displayed potent antibacterial activity against Gram-positive bacteria, Bacillus cereus and Bacillus subtilis, and several of them showed moderate activity against Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) and clinical isolates of S. aureus. In addition, a few of them also showed moderate activity against a Gram-negative bacteria Pseudomonas aeruginosa. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Antifungal activity of microbial nanoparticles derived from Chaetomium spp. against Magnaporthe oryzae causing rice blast(2020-01-01); ; ;Kanokmedhakul, Somdej ;Kanokmedhakul, KwanjaiThe Magnaporthe oryzae isolate PO2 was proven to cause rice blast var. PSL 2 in this study. Chaetomium elatum, Chaetomium lucknowense and Chaetomium brasiliense were antagonised to M. oryzae. The hexane extract of C. brasiliense gave the highest inhibition of the spore production with an ED<inf>50</inf> of 35 ppm, the EtOAC extract of C. lucknowense inhibited the spore production at 57 ppm and the EtOAC extracts of C. elatum inhibited the spore production at 106 ppm. The nano-CLM (C. lucknowense) inhibited the spore production at 5.24 ppm, the nano-CBH (C. brasiliense) inhibited the spore production at 6.86 ppm and the nano-CEE (C. elatum) inhibited the spore production at 7.89 ppm. The rice leaves treated with nano-CBH from C. brasiliense produced Sakuranertin and Oryzalexin B as seen on the thin layer chromatography where the Rf value was 0.08 assumed to be Sakuranertin, and the R<inf>f</inf> value of 0.28 supposed to be Oryzalexin B. It was found that the nanoparticles act as elicitors to induce immunity in rice plants through the production of phytoalexin. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Antagonistic effects of Chaetomium globosum and Trichoderma viride against Chili Anthracnose(2026-01-01) ;Rohaendi, P. ;Sudjatmiko, S. ;Pamekas, T.; The research demonstrated that Trichoderma viride and Chaetomium globosum inhibited Colletotrichum acutatum by 90.30% and 88.20%, respectively, primarily via competition for nutrients/space and parasitism, with no observed antibiosis. the field trials revealed that both fungi significantly reduced anthracnose severity. Trichoderma viride applications at 1, 2, and 3 g/L decreased disease incidence by 80.68%, 91.16%, and 92.27%, respectively, while Chaetomium globosum reduced it by 87.61–92.65%. Both exceeded synthetic fungicide Antracol (83.48–89.37% reduction) as a controlled treatment. Attack intensity followed a similar trend, with Trichoderma viride (95.12–97.46% suppression) and Chaetomium globosum (92.76–96.83%) surpassing Antracol (89.95–93.80%). Additionally, Trichoderma viride and Chaetomium globosum enhanced salicylic acid levels in chili plants, suggesting induced systemic resistance. These findings highlighted the potential of antagonistic fungi as sustainable biocontrol agents which would develop to be biofungicide, offering effective anthracnose management while reducing chemical residues. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Unleashing the potential of UAVs in agriculture: ASEAN and Thailand’s rice production industry improvements: Review article(2023-09-01) ;Mikhaylov, D.; Mitrokhin, M.Agriculture is vital for economic sustainability and structural transformation in ASEAN. This paper explores the agricultural landscape in ASEAN, focusing on Thailand as a prominent rice producer. Challenges such as rural-urban migration, the ageing population employed in agriculture, and need to implement innovative solutions to strengthen regional food security are discussed. The primary focus is the innovative use of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) in ASEAN agriculture. UAVs revolutionize data collection through aerial photography, providing real-time insights into terrain, vegetation health, and soil composition. They enable informed decisions, optimize resource allocation, and streamline processes, resulting in cost savings. Equipped with sensors, UAVs precisely monitor crop health, irrigation efficiency, and early pest detection. Integration of advanced software and geographical information systems enhances data analysis and visualization. UAVs facilitate high-resolution mapping, offering detailed information on crop density, weed infestation, and disease outbreaks. This enables targeted interventions, reducing input costs and optimizing resource allocation. Multispectral or hyperspectral sensors provide insights into plant health, chlorophyll content, and water stress, enabling site-specific management strategies for improved sustainability. UAVs are affordable, versatile, and continuously advancing. They can potentially improve productivity, efficiency, and resource management in agriculture. In rice production, UAVs offer benefits like crop monitoring, precise spraying, and uniform seed spreading. They provide real-time information on crop health and pest infestations, enabling optimized management. Spray drones accurately apply pesticides, while seed-spreading drones enhance crop growth and save costs. UAV drones offer significant advantages in ASEAN agriculture, addressing workforce challenges and enhancing productivity. Supportive measures will lead to efficient UAV integration, enhancing sustainability and farmer livelihoods. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Soil physico-chemical properties and microbial diversity on chilli anthracnose disease severity in Northern Karnataka, India(2025-06-01) ;Panigatti, Simran ;Thangadurai, Devarajan ;Sangeetha, Jeyabalan ;Hospet, RavichandraYadav, Guggalada GovardhanaChilli anthracnose disease causes a huge commercial loss in the globe. Studying soil physico-chemical properties is crucial to understand chilli anthracnose because these properties significantly affect the efficacy of biocontrol agents and herbicides used to manage the disease. This study aimed to evaluate the relative percentage of disease incidence (% DI) of chilli anthracnose in dominant chilli growing areas of Northern Karnataka in India and its relationship to soil properties. The soil physico-chemical (texture, moisture, density, pH, EC, OC, N, P, K, Ca, Mg, S, Zn, Cu, Fe, and B) properties, microbial (fungi and bacteria) diversity of 17 soil samples were analysed by standard protocols and evaluated their correlation with % DI, using Pearson correlation and cluster analysis method. Highest % DI was found in Shira with more value of pH (8.45), and Mg (14.63 meq 100 g-1), whereas in Nela with more value of EC (0.38%), moisture (46%), and Ca (33.83 meq 100 g-1), and also in the regions where the beneficial microbes were less in number (Tegg, Shira, Agad and Nela). The results obtained from Pearson correlation indicated that % DI was positively correlated to moisture (r=0.851**, P=0.01), EC (r=0.488*, P=0.05) and negatively correlated to Pseudomonas sp. (r=-0.322*, P=0.05). The present study provides comprehensive information about the role of physical, chemical and biological properties of soil characteristics responsible for the development of anthracnose disease prevalence and reducing soil quality as well as chilli production under natural conditions. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
