    Two topologies of minimum component single input multiple output (SIMO) filters are designed by employing a versatile active building block (ABB), the current conveyor transconductance amplifier (CCTA). The proposed filters work in current mode (CM) and trans-admittance mode (TAM). The CM SIMO filter is designed using two CCTA and two grounded capacitors. The CM filter can be converted to TAM filter just by adding a grounded resistor without any change in the topology. There is no need of passive component matching, and the filters provide all the five responses namely, high-pass (HP), band-pass (BP), low-pass (LP), all-pass (AP), and band-stop (BS) simultaneously. In addition, it provides an independent electronic tunability of angular frequency (ω) and quality factor (Q). The active and passive sensitivities of the filter parameters are low. In CM mode the filter offers low input impedances and high output impedances and in TAM mode the filter offers high input impedance and hight output impedance that support the cascadeability. The CM and TAM filters are designed for a frequency 16.23MHz and the simulation results employing 0.18 µm CMOS technology parameters at a supply voltage of ±1.25 V are obtained using Cadence software to validate the proposed design. Also, the proposed CM SIMO universal filter has been implemented in hardware to confirm its practicality. The commercially available integrated circuits (ICs), the current feedback operational amplifier (AD844) and operational transconductance amplifier (CA3080) and employed for the experimental validation.

    In this research the second-generation voltage conveyor (VCII) is employed in the design of grounded frequency dependent negative resistor (FDNR) and Frequency dependent negative conductance (FDNC). Additionally, two lossy parallel and series R-L inductor simulators are also designed. To the best knowledge of the authors above mentioned immittance simulators are first time implemented using VCII. The FDNR requires two VCII, two capacitors and one grounded resistor. FDNC is implemented using three VCII, three resistors and two grounded capacitors. The R-L inductor emulators requires two VCII, two resistors and one grounded capacitor. All the presented immittance simulators do not require any kind of passive component matching. The non-ideal gain and sensitivity analysis is conducted to study their performance under circuit parameter variations. Parasitic analysis is also done for the FDNR, FDNC and R-L inductance simulators to study the effect of parasitic impedance on the circuit operation. To validate the designs, they are simulated in Cadence design environment using 0.18 μm process design kit (PDK) at ±0.9 V supply. Additionally, the circuits are also validated using the macro model of commercially available integrated circuit (IC) AD844. The theoretical and simulation results are found to be in close agreement.

    A mixed mode first order universal filter (FO-UF) has been proposed in this study. One Extra X Current Conveyor Transconductance Amplifier (EXCCTA), one capacitor and two resistors are used to design the filter. The main attributes of the filter include (i) electronic tunability (ii) ability to work in all four modes of operation (iii) cascadability (iv) availability of low pass (LP), high pass (HP) and all pass (AP) responses simultaneously. By incorporating the filter to design the second order current mode and trans-admittance mode filters, the filter's practicability is investigated. To determine how component spread and frequency-dependent current and voltage transfer gains affect the filter's operation, non-ideal analysis is conducted. The layout of the EXCCTA occupies an area of 51.47*23.33μm2 and it is designed and validated using 180nm GPDK in Cadence software. The FO-UF functions at ±1.25V supply at a frequency of 16.23MHz. Experimental analysis using off the shelf integrated circuits (ICs), the AD844 and CA3080 is also conducted to validate the proposed design.

    In this paper, a new single input multi output (SIMO) filter is presented that works in current mode (CM). The universal filter is designed using a recently proposed highly versatile active building block the extra X current conveyor transconductance amplifier (EXCCTA). The design employs two EXCCTAs, two capacitors and one resistor. The designed filter uses grounded passive elements which is advantageous for fabrication. The design can provide all the five responses i.e., high-pass (HP), band-pass (BP), low-pass (LP), all-pass (AP), and band-stop (BS) simultaneously. In addition, it provides an independent electronic tunability of angular frequency (ω) and quality factor (Q). Moreover, there is no requirement of passive component matching. The non-ideal and sensitivity analysis of the filter is done to get a measure of the effect of the process and components variation on the functioning of the filter. The simulation results are obtained using Cadence software employing 0.18 μm CMOS technology parameters from Silterra Malaysia at a supply voltage of ±1.25 V also the layout of the EXCCTA is designed. The proposed filter is validated by designing it for a frequency of 16. 07MHz. Additionally, the Spice macro model of the commercially available integrated circuits (ICs) AD844 and LM13700 are used to further test the feasibility of the proposed filter.

    Programmable Universal Filters Using Current Conveyor Transconductance Amplifiers
    (2017-07-01)
    Nonthaputha, Thanat
    ;
    This paper presents new programmable universal biquadratic filters using current conveyor transconductance amplifiers (CCTAs) by which both voltage-and current-mode filters can be obtained. The proposed filters use second-generation current conveyor (CCII) which is the first stage of CCTA to operate as current conveyor analog switch (CCAS) and this CCAS will be used to program the filtering functions such as low-pass, high-pass, band-pass, band-stop and all-pass filters. Unlike previous universal filters, the filtering functions of the proposed filters can be programmed using the bias currents of CCTAs without changing any input and output connections. The natural frequency and quality factor of all filtering functions can be controlled electronically and orthogonally using the bias currents of transconductance amplifiers. Also gain response of all transfer functions can be adjusted. The active and passive sensitivities of the filters are low. The proposed programmable filters have been simulated using 0.18μm CMOS process from TSMC. PSPICE simulation results are included to confirm workability of the proposed circuits.

    This paper presents a new CMOS programmable universal filter using three current conveyor transconductance amplifiers, two grounded capacitors and four grounded resistors. Unlike previous universal filters, low-pass, high-pass, band-pass, band-stop and all-pass filtering functions of proposed universal filter can be programmed using bias current. The angular natural frequency of all filtering functions can be controlled electronically using other bias currents. The proposed structure is favorable for integrated circuit implementation. The proposed filter has been simulated sing PSPICE simulators to verify the presented theory.

    A floating memristor emulator circuit using operational transconductance amplifiers
    (2015-09-30)
    This paper presents a floating memristor emulator circuit using operational transconductance amplifiers (OTAs). The OTAs are used to realize electronically tunable second-generation current conveyors (ECCIIs). The behavior of a titanium dioxide (T<inf>i</inf>O<inf>2</inf>) memristor model of Hewlett-Packard laboratories has been imitated in the form of emulator circuit using ECCIIs. The hardware of proposed memristor emulator can be built using low cost devices that found in the market. The memristor emulator can be used as both the simulations and experiments which is valuable in a teaching aid and a real circuit application. Simulation and experimental results are also given to confirm the workability of the proposed circuit.

    This paper presents an interface circuit suitable for use with differential resistive sensors. The implementation method based on operational conveyors is easily implemented in integrated circuit form. Surpassing the similar circuit using only current conveyors, the proposed configuration affords significant improvement in accuracy. PSPICE simulation and experimental results in good agreement with theoretical analysis are included. © 2011 SICE.
