Item type:Publication, Hybrid Posi cast - based PID - PDA Control Using System Identification for Continuous Tunnel Kilns(2026-06-30); ;Sungsorn, Teenapong ;Trisuwannawat, Thanit; This paper proposes a hybrid Posicast-based proportional-integral-derivative with proportional-derivative-acceleration (PID-PDA) controller for temperature regulation in delay-dominant continuous tunnel kilns. The controller is developed based on a system-identified second-order-plus-dead-time (SOPDT) model derived from industrial data and implemented in discrete time for programmable logic controllers (PLCs). A unified framework enables comparison with a standard PLC-based proportional-integral (PI) controller, an internal model control (IMC)-tuned PI controller, and a Smith Predictor-PI controller under identical conditions. Simulation results demonstrate faster response, negligible overshoot, and reduced tracking error, with improved settling time and lower, integral of absolute error (IAE), integral of squared error (ISE), and integral of time-weighted absolute error (ITAE), while maintaining comparable control effort. Robustness analysis confirms stable performance under plant perturbations, with IAE variations within approximately ± 10 (servo) and ± 1 (disturbance). The controller is validated on an Allen-Bradley PLC in a silicon controlled rectifier (SCR)-based heating system. Experimental results show improved steady-state performance, including reduced bias, lower mean absolute error (MAE) and root mean squared error (RMSE), reduced oscillation amplitude, and compliance within the ± 1 temperature band. The proposed approach provides a practical, robust, and high-performance solution for upgrading existing PLC-based systems without hardware modifications. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Discrete-time posicast PID×(n − 2) stage PD cascade controllers for unstable system(2018-08-01); ;Pool-Em, Kittipat ;Trisuwannawat, ThanitUkakimaparn, PrapartThis paper aims to present a discrete-time controller design for a two-degree-of-freedom (2-DOF) control system connected with Posicast function to stabilize an unstable third-order or higher-order plant. The continuous-time controllers used in the 2-DOF control system, the proportional-integral-derivative (PID)×(n − 2) stage proportional-derivative (PD) cascade controllers and the forward controller, are designed by using the Kitti’s method. The Posicast function is used to eliminate an overshoot in step response. Based on the continuous-time controllers designed in the s-domain, the discrete-time controllers with closed-form expression in the z-domain are then calculated by using the bilinear transformation. The magnetic levitation system is employed as an illustrative case study of the unstable plant to be controlled. By comparing the discrete-time system with the continuous-time system, the effectiveness of the proposed discrete-time controller design is verified by MATLAB simulation results. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Alternative of high voltage multipliers utilizing Cockcroft–Walton multiplier blocks for 220 V and 50 Hz input(2020-12-01) ;Jaiwanglok, Anurak ;Eguchi, Kei; In order to be practical for converting 220 V and 50 Hz AC input into high DC output ranged between 3.5 and 4.0 kV to create underwater shockwaves in non-thermal technique for processing foods, this article presents an alternative approach for modifying conventional high voltage multipliers without magnetic elements, which are based on the use of parallel-connected Cockcroft–Walton multiplier blocks (CWMBs) in bipolar structure. The basic three-stage CWMB scheme as well as the effect of different capacitor values on its output is described. The modified high voltage multiplier with improved response speed consists of a full-wave rectifier (FWR), a two-phase driver block, a parallel-connected positive CWMB, and a parallel-connected negative CWMB. Both output voltage and power efficiency of the proposed scheme can be demonstrated by theoretical analysis results. Moreover, simulation results showing the characteristics of the proposed high voltage multiplier are also included. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Design of posicast pida controller using kitti's method(2020-10-01); ;Sungsorn, Teenapong ;Trisuwannawat, Thanit ;Tirasesth, KittiUkakimaparn, PrapartThis paper proposes a successful technique for designing a PIDA (proportional-integral-derivative-acceleration) controller in both continuous-time and discrete-time frameworks, which provides better transient response specifications in comparison with PID (proportional-integral-derivative) controller for third-order plant. The proposed design technique consists of three major steps. First, the PIDA controller is designed by using Kitti's method based on root locus technique in the control loop. Second, the maximum percentage overshoot can be decreased to satisfy specification by applying the forward controller. Based on these two steps, all desired specifications can be achieved without trial and error method for tuning controller parameters. Lastly, the Posicast controller is simply designed because the controlled system can be approximated as a standard second-order system. The performances of the designed PIDA controller are confirmed through MATLAB simulation results. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Optimal control-based integral servo controller for an overhead crane system(2015-01-01); ;Kaeojaikla, PhattarapongTrisuwannawat, ThanitThis paper presents an integral servo controller design in order to eliminate the steady-state tracking error of an overhead crane system according to the servo problem. The design technique uses optimal control approach which encourages to achieve the better performance of the controller for overhead crane system. The simulation results show that the designed integral servo controller can eliminate the errors and reduce the settling time of the responses according to the weight for the integral time. Item type:Publication, The Comparison of DGA Interpretation Techniques Application for Actual Failure Transformer Inspections Including Experience from Power Plants in Thailand(2022-03-01) ;Jongvilaikasem, Korraya; ;Wattakapaiboon, Wilasinee ;Kando, MasaakiManeerot, SakdaDissolve gas analysis (DGA) is a diagnostic test technique applied for transformer condition evaluation. The interpretation of the dissolved gas results is a significant procedure to classify the incipient fault types in transformers. A variety of dissolved gas interpretation methods utilized for the same investigation case may give different fault type results. This paper investigates the performance of dissolved gas interpretation methods, including Doernenburg Ratio, Roger Ratio, IEC Ratio, Müller-Schlliesing and Soldner Method, Duval Triangle, and Duval Pentagon. The twenty-four failure transformer cases are used to evaluate the performance of the dissolved gas interpretation methods. The test result shows that the Duval pentagon interpretation technique shows the highest consistency interpretation. Besides, the Duval pentagon method demonstrates the ability to identify a normal aging problem of the transformer insulation. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Analysis of macrocycle schedules for an alternative of FF-based feedforward control(2019-04-01); This paper focuses on analyzing the macrocycle schedules generated for an alternative implementation of Foundation Fieldbus (FF)-based feedforward control with hybrid architecture. The interested alternative control strategy is based on the use of the bias/gain (BG) function block to create feedforward summing function outside a proportional-integral-derivative (PID) function block for use to meet special operation requirements. An FF temperature control loop connected to the DeltaV distributed control system (DCS) providing built-in capability to execute function blocks in an H1 interface card is utilized as a case study to examine the effects of eight different configuration schemes on macrocycle schedules and function block synchronizations. Experimental results obtained from major configuration schemes by placing the PID block in the DCS host controller, the H1 interface card, and the temperature transmitter show that function block allocation affects the control performance to anticipate process disturbance effects. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Integral servo with PIDx(n-2)/2 stage PDA controllers for unstable systems(2009-12-01) ;Ukakimaparn, Prapart; ;Irasesth, KittiTrisuwannawat, ThanitThis paper presents the Integral Servo Problem via PID x(n / 2)/2 stage PDAcontrollers for the Inverted Pendulum System as an unstable system to becontrolled. The problem is formulated by introducing an integrator to perform anaugmented system to the original plant. Once, the augmented system order isknown, the number of PDA's stage is also being determined. By using Kitti'sMethod (KM) to assign the location of both PID's zero first, and then find thelocation of the remaining zero of PDA and the loop gain KSd using the criteriaof Root-Locus Technique. The results from root locus diagrams revealed that theInverted Pendulum System is robustly stabilizable. Moreover, increasing of theloop gain KSd higher than the designed value, result in not only a fastersettling time is obtained, but also a response with smaller till no overshoot aswell. Item type:Publication, Polarity-Dependent DC Dielectric Behavior of Virgin XLPO, XLPE, and PVC Cable Insulations(2025-10-01) ;Ruangwong, Khomsan; Reliable DC cable insulation is crucial for photovoltaic (PV) systems and high-voltage DC (HVDC) networks. However, conventional materials such as cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE) and polyvinyl chloride (PVC) face challenges under prolonged DC stress—notably space charge buildup, dielectric losses, and thermal aging. Cross-linked polyolefin (XLPO) has emerged as a halogen-free, thermally stable alternative, but its comparative DC performance remains underreported. Methods: We evaluated the insulations of virgin XLPO, XLPE, and PVC PV cables under ±1 kV DC using time-domain indices (IR, DAR, PI, Loss Index), supported by MATLAB and FTIR. Multi-layer cable geometries were modeled in MATLAB to simulate radial electric field distribution, and Fourier-transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy was employed to reveal polymer chemistry and functional groups. Results: XLPO exhibited an IR on the order of 108–109 Ω, and XLPE (IR ~ 108 Ω) and PVC (IR ~ 107 Ω, LI ≥ 1) at 60 s, with favorable polarization indices under both polarities. Notably, they showed high insulation resistance and low-to-moderate loss indices (≈1.3–1.5) under both polarities, indicating controlled relaxation with limited conduction contribution. XLPE showed good initial insulation resistance but revealed polarity-dependent relaxation and higher loss (especially under positive bias) due to trap-forming cross-linking byproducts. PVC had the lowest resistance (GΩ-range) and near-unit DAR/PI, dominated by leakage conduction and dielectric losses. Simulations confirmed a uniform electric field in XLPO insulation with no polarity asymmetry, while FTIR spectra linked XLPO’s low polarity and PVC’s chlorine content to their electrical behavior. Conclusions: XLPO outperforms XLPE and PVC in resisting DC leakage, charge trapping, and thermal stress, underscoring its suitability for long-term PV and HVDC applications. This study provides a comprehensive structure–property understanding to guide the selection of advanced, polarity-resilient cable insulation materials. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
