Item type:Publication, The mediating effect of opportunity recognition on incubated - Entrepreneurial innovation(2014-01-01) ;Niammuad, Damrongrit ;Napompech, KulkanyaOpportunity recognition plays a central role in the emergence of nascent ventures in entrepreneurship research. The main purpose of this study was to present the mediating effects of opportunity recognition on incubation resources and human capital. Moreover, the study scrutinises the complex inter-relations between opportunity recognition and entrepreneurial product innovation. The data were collected from 389 incubated software start-ups in Thailand and statistically performed by Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modelling (PLS-SEM). The analysis revealed a persistent impact of the opportunity recognition on the incubation resources and human capital. Opportunity recognition also serves as a significant driver in enhancing entrepreneurial potential to boost new products/services. Interestingly, the study found that the human capital of incubated software entrepreneurs has no significant effect, statistically, on product innovation, against the better judgement of business empires worldwide. © Imperial College Press. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Technical efficiency of oil palm production under a large agricultural plot scheme in Thailand(2018-01-01) ;Juyjaeng, Cha On; Background and Objective: Thai government launched a Large Agricultural Plot Scheme (LAPS) in 2005 in order to enhance the effectiveness of the extension programme. The objective of this research was to compare the technical efficiency (TE) of oil palm production and factors influencing the TE of oil palm production between member and non-member farmers under the LAPS in Bang Saphan Noi district, Prachuap Khiri Khan Province, Thailand. Methodology: The data were collected from January-June, 2017 from 57 LAPS member farmers and 63 non-LAPS member farmers. This paper estimated technical inefficiency by using a stochastic production frontier model and Tobit regression to investigate the factors influencing the TE. Results: The results revealed that the TE of oil palm production of the LAPS member farmers was ranked 12-99%, whereas that of the non-LAPS member farmers was ranked 14-99%. The TE mean of LAPS member farmers was 0.63, while the TE mean of non-LAPS member farmers was 0.52. The years of experience on oil palm plantations and age were crucial factors that contributed to the TE of LAPS member farmers and TE of non-LAPS member farmers, respectively. Conclusion: The TE mean of LAPS member farmers was higher than that of non-LAPS member farmers knowledge and experience sharing between old and young generations who are eager to work in oil palm production should also be a concern. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, The study of participatory monitoring of air quality and urban heat, case study Udon Thani province, Thailand(2018-12-01) ;Puansurin, K. ;Wongtragoon, U. ;Singchan, B.Urbanization in Thailand is a similar pattern. Land use planning, zoning and environmental safeguards are largely ineffective. Air quality and heat obviously affect environmental problem due to urbanization and harm to human health, especially respiratory disease. The lack of participatory planning process that citizens are limited ability to influence what is happening on the ground. The lack of public access to inform decision-making process is common across the country. Udon Thani municipality, Udon Thani province encountered this mentioned problems. The development of the simple method to monitor the concentration of Particulate Matter 2.5 µm (PM2.5) and urban heat in order to build social participation were investigated and providde the scientific information for decision-makers and key stakeholders of the community. The direct measurement was offered by using three devices as a mobile traverse method, for measurement; 1) a mobile visible light scattering device to measure PM2.5 concentrations, 2) a digital thermometer and 3) GPS device to obtain spatial data. The behaviors of air quality and urban heat island (UHI) was seasonally observed by day and night times from April 2017 to January 2018 in hot, rainy and cold seasons with five time intervals (16:00, 20:00, 00:00, 08:00 and 12:00) on a selected observation date of each season. The results indicated the peak spots of PM2.5 concentrations and UHI around the study area estimated to encounter the air pollution and urban heat occurrences in particular specific time interval and seasons. Finally, The simple method and scientific information were provided as a key stakeholders in the study area to monitor air quality and urban heat through workshop training and Shared Learning Dialogues (SLDs). It was obviously found that the participation of the key stakeholders were encouraged and their perception on social scientific information was well responded. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Assessment of farmers' knowledge and attitudes towards the commercialisation of Tailor-made fertilisers in Thailand(2014-01-01) ;Hothongcum, Krichanont; In Thailand, chemical fertilisers provide nutrients that are essential for increasing agricultural productivity but they are expensive, often representing 25% of the crop production cost. Tailor-made fertiliser technology is a new fertiliser application technology that is being promoted to help farmers reduce fertihser costs. This study aims to investigate and clarify sugarcane farmers' knowledge and attitudes towards tailor-made-fertiliser. This study also attempts to provide a better understanding of the effect of farm size on farmers' beliefs and attitudes towards tailor-madefertiliser. Moreover, the findings suggest that further extension of tailor-made-fertiliser practices should include training services for smallholders to improve their knowledge of relevant practices. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings

Item type:Publication, An exploratory study on the organic food purchase intention among Thai-Cambodian cross-border consumers(2014-01-01) ;Pomsanam, Pisnu ;Napompech, K.Sustainable organic food consumption has begun to play an important and influential role in the purchasing decisions of millions of global consumers due to increasing concern about health and environmental issues. This study aims to explore the influence of attitude, subjective norms, perceived behavioral control, health consciousness and environmental concern on organic food purchase intentions among Thai-Cambodian cross-border consumers. A modified version of the theory of planned behavior was adopted as the research framework of study analysis and hypotheses. Data was collected from 400 Thai consumers in Sa Kaeo province, Thailand and 400 Cambodian consumers in Banteay Meanchey province, Cambodia. The regression results of Thai consumers indicate that all variables are significant and health consciousness and subjective norms were important and found to be the top two predictors of organic purchase intention. In contrast to Cambodian consumers, the results demonstrate that attitude and subjective norms have no positively significant relationship to purchase intention. However, health consciousness, environmental concern and perceived behavioral control can be used to predict the organic food purchasing intention of Cambodian consumers. © 2014 Knowledgia Review, Malaysia. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Performance financial analysis of rubber cooperatives in Trat Province, Thailand(2018-12-01) ;Kromkratoke, W.The financial performance of rubber cooperatives in Trat Province, Thailand was studied. The results revealed that characteristics of rubber cooperatives were divided into primary and secondary businesses. Four rubber cooperatives obtained the highest revenue from gathering rubber products as primary business, accounting for 50 percent of all rubber cooperatives, covering 22.53 million (THB.) per year. Regarding secondary business, two rubber cooperatives generated the highest revenue by supplying and selling fertilizer and agricultural chemicals, and processing rubber products accounting for 4 million (THB) per year. Seven cooperatives (87.5%) had acceptable financial performance ratios. This finding implied that these cooperatives were successful in terms of operation. The ability of rubber cooperatives to meet current obligations and the use of resources were effective. In contrast, only one cooperative investing in rubber processing gained an unacceptable financial performance ratio which was below than 2. The Acid-test (-0.17) demonstrated rubber cooperative dependency upon inventory. Additionally, the inventory turnover ratio was excessively high. There was much invested in rubber processing, machinery, and equipment. Cooperative management should consider financial ratios as an important tool to investigate the performance of rubber cooperatives.
