Item type:Publication, Matlab Platform Remote Control System Experiments(2023-01-01)Boksuwan, SungwanThe paper proposes the remote experiment that enables a student to conduct the physical control system experiment through the internet. The remote experiment is designed using MATLAB platform to create the user interface and to analyze the results. A DC motor controlled by PI controller is utilized as the physical system for demonstrating the effectiveness of the proposed system. Interface module with a dsPIC microcontroller is in charge of implementing a control loop and connecting between a user interface and a physical system. The experimental results reveal that there are a little delay times in live video monitoring but it does not affect the closed-loop control system and it can still be run in real time. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings

In addition, the data from filed devices can apply to solve device diagnostic and preventive maintenance. This paper describes the practical technique to configure and implement of control and SCADA system that focus on integration of field device, PLC controller, and SCADA system. The paper presents case study of Allen-Bradley (AB) PLC by using WirelessHART device to temperature control and device diagnostic through SCADA system. PLC's input/output (I/O) modules are installed that consists of Modbus module, digital I/O module, analog I/O module. In addition, Prosoft configuration builder and Studio 5000 software are new software to build add on Modbus instruction and ladder diagrams, respectively. The experiments perform in case study of temperature control by using Proportional–Integral–Derivative (PID) function in the AB PLC. Wonderware InTouch SCADA software is implemented to monitor the process mimic, trend, and alarm. Moreover, the technique can support the operators and engineers to make decision for process control and devices diagnostic. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Wind Tunnel Model for Natural Wind Velocity(2020-10-25) ;Taecharoenwiriyakun, Suriya; At the present time, the demand for energy in Thailand is increasing rapidly. Therefore, improving production efficiency is important in solving energy problems. According to the Alternative Energy and Alternative Energy Development Plan 2015-2036 in Thailand, the objectivity for wind power generation has increased dramatically. For this reason, the research team had the idea to create a wind tunnel with adjustable wind speed to mimic local wind speed in Thailand to be used in designing and analyzing wind turbine blade designs to suit various wind speeds. This can increase the efficiency of the production of energy even more. Wind speed adjustment or the pressure, lift and rotation speed measured can be done by a computer. By applying the PID control theory, it can precisely control the wind speed. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Applying radar chart for process control behavior(2018-06-08); This paper presents the technique to show the controller parameters value that can support decision making of controller action and instruments, actuator operation. In addition, energy consumption is detected of any points of process operation. The paper describes method to detect and collect the assigned process control parameters from process components then display their parameters by radar chart. All of assigned parameters are used to construct the plotted of radar figure. The paper designs background and foreground by representation with rectangular array and length of each spoke in radar chart is proportional to magnitude of set value(SV), manipulate value(MV), process value(PV) of PID controller parameters. In addition, watt power (W) of energy consumption in the process is detected and stored. Each spoke of radar chart represents each parameter that converts to scale as 0-100%. The script functions are developed at the SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) station to detect, collect and scale, then store detected parameters in database. The experiments perform in case study of level loop control of water tank processes by using a proportion-integral-derivative (PID) function in the Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) and Wonderware InTouch SCADA software. The technique can apply for exiting SCADA to create the radar chart. Nevertheless, the new version of SCADA software can support the feature but it depends on cost license fee. Moreover, the technique can support the operators and engineers to make decision of process devices performance (instrument, actuator, controller), process operation and condition. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, High performance electronically tunable log-domain current-mode PID controller(2018-02-01); Angkeaw, KritThis research proposes a log-domain P (proportional) I (integral) D (derivative) controller whereby the bias currents are arbitrarily applied to the P, I and D components for independent or simultaneous electronic tuning and the subsequent improved response. In the study, the initial P, I and D circuits were individually realized using 17, 13 and 21 bipolar transistors, and the final PID controller required 62 bipolar transistors including the biasing circuits and a multiple-output current buffer. The proposed PID controller was operational on a dual power supply of ±1.5 V, with the wide-range tunability up to three decades without the circuit topology alteration. Additionally, simulations were carried out with the individual P, I, D circuits and PID controller to verify the performance (i.e. tunability and the response time) and the simulation results compared with the existing PID schemes. Importantly, the simulation results of the PID controller are in good agreement with the theoretical PID functions. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Tunable PID controller based on log-domain circuits(2015-10-09) ;Angkeaw, Krit ;Prommee, TanakritCurrent-mode proportional plus integral plus derivative (PID) controller based on log-domain concept is presented in this paper. The parameters of P, I, and D blocks can be independently controlled through bias currents. Only grounded capacitors are employed as a passive element for achieving the time-constant of I and D controllers. In each block of I and D controllers are easily constructed by using 10 bipolar transistors and a grounded capacitor except P controller uses only 4 bipolar transistors without any resistors. Thus, it is suitable for integrated circuits realization. Single power supply voltage 2.5V is used. The characteristics of PID are simulated is by SPICE. The demonstrated results are in good agreement with the theoretical expectations.1 - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, The design of PID controller for track following control of hard disk drive using Coefficient Diagram Method(2011-12-01); ;Vaidee, Worapon ;Trisuwannawat, Thanit; Tipsuwanporn, VittayaThis paper presents the design of PID controller for track following control of hard disk drive using Coefficient Diagram Method (CDM). For this reason, Track following control of hard disk drive process has many disturbances from internal and external sources, so determining satisfactory controller parameters to stabilize control system and satisfying response specification is difficult. The proposed PID controller design using Coefficient Diagram Method (CDM) based on proper choosing the coefficients of the characteristic transfer function of the closed loop control system in accordance with stability index and equivalent time constant is applying an uncomplicated and convenience technique to controller design of Track following control in hard disk drive process. Matlab simulation results shown that CDM design is fairly stable and robust whilst giving the convenience in controller's parameters adjustment. © 2011 ICROS. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, IMC-based PID controllers design for a two-links SCARA robot(2011-12-01) ;Suvilath, Sipaseuth ;Khongsomboun, Khamphong; Komine, NoriyukiThe paper presents the design of PID controllers for a two-link SCARA robot based on internal model control (IMC) technique. For the model of the two-link SCARA robot which includes an integrator, IMC filter must be selected properly so that the designed IMC controllers can be approximated as PID controllers by using Maclaurin approximation. The simulation results verify the applicability and satisfied performance of the proposed control system. © 2011 IEEE. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
