Item type:Publication, The technique to generate firing signal of converter for linear DC output(2008-12-01); ; ;Ukakimapurn, PrapartTirasesth, KittiThe firing angle adjustment of ac-dc converter that adjust firing angle proportional to control signal. The dc output voltage is not linear. This paper presents the technique to generate the firing signal for ac-dc converter which has linear dc output voltage. This technique decoded the arccosine value as binary data and save in ROM, before compare with control signal. All digital circuits and ROM were constructed using Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) and Verilog Hardware Description Language (Verilog HDL) so that the proposed technique has small size and ease of implementation. The experimental results show the dc output voltage and output waveform that agree with the design. Harmonas-DEO fieldbus system is described as an illustrative case study for configuring and commissioning fieldbus segment, defining control strategy, designing human machine interface (HMI) screen, and troubleshooting. Item type:Publication, Digital fieldbus-Analog system integration for revamping projectsThis paper presents a system integration of modern digital fieldbus and traditional analog devices for revamping projects. Using temperature transmitter with Foundation Fieldbus technology and power regulator with 4-20 mA control input for temperature control based on a PID instruction of programmable logic controller (PLC) is examined as an illustrative case study. A portable plant model was designed and implemented for real hands-on training. In addition, basic network and device configurations as well as ladder logic program and graphical user interface creations are discussed. All of these waste a vast amount of working time. At the same time, end-users consider the developments of process automation by using wireless devices due to the growing of the new plants and replacing analog or wired HART plants. The paper presents a technique to modify wired HART device to be WirelessHART device and to configure it for communication with other WirelessHART devices. A PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) and SCADA system is used to provide centralized device information, historian, and HMI. Installation and configuration techniques of wired HART, THUM adapter or repeater, WirelessHART, HART gateway are described. In addition, engineering and SCADA software are assigned based on OPC to share WirelessHART data with gateway, PLC and SCADA system. The experimental results by using S7-300 Siemens PLC, WW InTouch, and HART devices in level process control are included to confirm the system workability. Item type:Publication, Design of a switched-capacitor-based serial DC-DC converter using clean energy power supplies(2010-07-30) ;Eguchi, Kei; ;Sugimura, Tatsuya; Tirasesth, KittiFor mobile back-lighting applications, a switched-capacitor-based serial DC-DC converter using solar power supplies is proposed in this paper. Unlike conventional switched-capacitor DC-DC converters, the proposed converter pushes up the output voltage of a switched-capacitor-based circuit by the voltage of solar cells. For this reason, the proposed converter can realize not only long battery runtime but also small hardware-cost and wide input-range. Concretely, in comparison with the conventional parallel converter using 1.5× step-up SC converters, the proposed converter can achieve 20% reduction of hardware cost and 16% extension of input range. The characteristics of the proposed converter are clarified by theoretical analyses. Furthermore, SPICE simulations and experiments show the validity of circuit design, where theoretical results correspond well with simulation results. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Integration of wireless HART network system into SCADA software for operation & management(2016-11-18) ;Pongpipatpakdee, Pornchai; ; This paper describes the technique to integrate HART field devices into SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) system. Wire HART field device is connected to WirelessHART adapter (THUM) and WirelessHART device are assigned act as RTU(Remote Terminal Unit) in SCADA system. In system, THUM and WirelessHART device communicate to WirelessHART gateway that collects their data and send to master station with Modbus/TCP. The paper presents the practices to install and configure the THUM with control valve wire HART device, WirelessHART transmitter, tags assignment, and so on that focus for HART parameters mapping in order to device operation and management. Effectiveness of the proposed system integration is verified by simulation and experimental results. Item type:Publication, Power saving techniques to improve efficiency of a parallel-connected negative DC-DC converter(2013-09-02) ;Eguchi, Kei; ; ;Fujimoto, KuniakiSasaki, HirofumiA parallel-connected negative DC-DC converter using power saving techniques has been proposed in this paper. Unlike conventional negative converters, the proposed converter consists of four negative heap converters connected in parallel, where the power switch is driven by non-overlapped four-phase pulses cyclically. In two of the four negative heap converters, a part of the electric charge in parasitic capacitances is reused in each clock cycle. For this reason, the proposed converter can reduce energy loss than the conventional converters. The validity of the proposed technique was confirmed by simulation program with integrated circuit emphasis (SPICE) simulations and theoretical analysis. When the output load is 1 km, the proposed converter was able to improve power efficiency more than 11% compared to the conventional converter. © 2013 IEEE. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, PFD analysis of LNG fuel gas supply system for improving combined-cycle power plant safety(2022-04-01); ; In order to determine an unavailability of each safety function subsystem that influences on an overall unavailability of entire protection system for safety analysis and enhancement, a modeling is required. This article presents a safety system modeling to evaluate the detected–undetected failures and repairable behaviors of each safety function subsystem in the studied fuel gas supply system (FGSS), which is utilized in a combined-cycle power plant. The proposed modeling deals with probability of failure on demand (PFD) analysis for calculation of the unavailability of three safety function subsystems, which are gas analytical subsystem (GAS), fuel gas controller subsystem (FGC), and shutdown valve subsystem (SDV). The interested GAS includes two different groups of gas analyzers in 2-out-of-2 (2oo2) voting scheme, when using three gas analyzers in each group in 2-out-of-3 and diagnosis (2oo3D) voting scheme. The interested FGC consists of two controllers in 2oo2 voting scheme, when the structure of each controller is in 1-out-of-1 and diagnosis (1oo1D) voting scheme. The interested SDV consists of two shutdown valves, which are installed in 1-out-of-2 (1oo2) voting scheme. The reliability block diagram is utilized for representative of combination of all three safety function subsystems, and the fault tree is utilized for calculation of PFD unavailability of each safety function subsystem. As the results obtained from the proposed safety function modeling, the influence of three safety function subsystems on the total unavailability of the FGSS is described. In addition, an example of the proposed modeling application to provide two guidelines for effective engineering design and operation is also presented. The first is a guideline to implement an effective human machine interface (HMI) at an operator workstation for real-time monitoring of the studied FGSS in the presence of failures that can be automatically detected by device diagnosis. The latter is a guideline to maintain and troubleshoot the failures that can be revealed by proof test. Based on diagnostic information and proof test results, operation and maintenance savings can be achieved.
