    A simple amplitude detector-based demodulator for resolver converters

    This paper presents a simple method based on sinusoidal-amplitude detector for realizing the resolver-signal demodulator. The proposed demodulator consists of two full-wave rectifiers, two ±unity-gain amplifiers, and two sinusoidal-amplitude detectors with control switches. Two output voltages are proportional to sine and cosine envelopes of resolver-shaft angle without low-pass filter. Experimental results demonstrating characteristic of the proposed circuit are included. ©ICROS.

    Wireless Carbon Monoxide Level Control and Monitoring System
    This paper proposes an online carbon monoxide control and monitoring system. The proposed system comprises an MQ-7 CO gas sensor module, a DHT11 digital temperature and humidity sensor module, an ESP8266 module, and a Relay Module. The ThingSpeak platform is used to create HMI for online monitoring of CO level, temperature, humidity, and status of the ventilation fan. This proposed system can measure CO and monitor all parameters of measurement data, alert users when CO values exceed the set value. In addition, the measured CO values are used to control the ventilation system operation (ON or OFF) to maintain the CO at a non-harmful level. The experiment testing and results with three conditions show that the proposed system can measure and monitor CO level, temperature, and humidity online with satisfying values. The ventilation fan can operate with function as a design procedure and maintain CO at a non-harmful level.

    Digital fieldbus-Analog system integration for revamping projects
    This paper presents a system integration of modern digital fieldbus and traditional analog devices for revamping projects. Using temperature transmitter with Foundation Fieldbus technology and power regulator with 4-20 mA control input for temperature control based on a PID instruction of programmable logic controller (PLC) is examined as an illustrative case study. A portable plant model was designed and implemented for real hands-on training. In addition, basic network and device configurations as well as ladder logic program and graphical user interface creations are discussed. Experimental results of temperature control in the range of 40-60 °C verifying the proposed concept are also included.

    Non-destructive Fertility Detection of Multiple Chicken Eggs Using Image Processing and Convolutional Neural Network

    This paper presents a non-destructive fertility detection of multiple chicken eggs in incubation industry based on image processing technique and convolutional neural network (CNN). The aim of this research were to design and implement the system for simultaneously distinguish multi eggs infertility from fertility one. LED light source setting up for illumining the 48 eggs, consisting of both egg types and randomly placed on a tray in dark box. In addition, a pre-trained CNN is performed to classify fertile and infertile eggs. All eggs is captured and processed to extract a region of interest (ROI) for each egg, generating large ROI egg images dataset which used to train and test the CNN model. A designed system is programmed using Python, operating on Windown7-64bit supported by OpenCV and Keras. Experimental results showed the accuracies for fertile incubated eggs detection between day 7 and day 9 reaches 100%. Meanwhile, eggs location has 100% of accuracy is also observed. Hence, the proposed technique are high reliability, high accuracy system and suitable to use in real application.

    Power monitoring circuit using operational amplifiers

    In this paper presents a power monitoring circuit for battery energy management system using operational amplifiers. The proposed scheme consists of a current sensing circuit with voltage output and an analog multiplier. The voltage output of current sensing circuit is directly proportional to load current. The multiplying result of the load current in the form of voltage signal and the load voltage becomes the load power in term of output voltage of analog multiplier. The configuration of the proposed power monitoring circuit is simple and economically attractive. Simulation and experimental results confirming the performance of the proposed circuit are agreed with the expected values. ©ICROS.

    8-Electrode data collection system for electrical capacitance tomography

    8-electrode data collection system for electrical capacitance tomography is presented. The system mainly consists of a signal generator, 8×2 multiplexer, detector, amplifier, band-pass filter, rms-to-dc converter, A/D converter circuit and control computer. Experimental results with a circular sensor show that the proposed system is able to collect data with satisfy sensitivities, linearity, resolution and also being insensitive to noise. Reconstructed images from collected data are shown. © 2006 ICASE.

    Simple interface circuit for resistive/capacitive sensors

    This paper presents a method to realize interface circuit for resistive and capacitive sensors. The proposed circuit employs commercially available devices to generate the output signal in form of time period, which is linearly proportional to the both of sensing resistance and capacitance. Circuit configuration is simple and small in size. Experimental results verifying the performances of the proposed circuit are also included.

    Hydropower plant generator system

    This paper presents the hydropower plant generator system. The hydropower plant model which simulates the actual flow rates is investigated, and it is realized as the Simulink model. The parameters of the permanent magnet synchronous generator are measured and the generator torque characteristic using the obtained parameters is calculated. The hydropower plant torque characteristic and the range of the flow rate in which the hydropower plant generator system can operate is clarified by comparing with hydropower plant Pelton type and hydropower plant Standard type.

    Integration of wireless HART network system into SCADA software for operation & management

    This paper describes the technique to integrate HART field devices into SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) system. Wire HART field device is connected to WirelessHART adapter (THUM) and WirelessHART device are assigned act as RTU(Remote Terminal Unit) in SCADA system. In system, THUM and WirelessHART device communicate to WirelessHART gateway that collects their data and send to master station with Modbus/TCP. The paper presents the practices to install and configure the THUM with control valve wire HART device, WirelessHART transmitter, tags assignment, and so on that focus for HART parameters mapping in order to device operation and management. Effectiveness of the proposed system integration is verified by simulation and experimental results. Moreover, the technique can be applied in existing plants or in new project to support end-users to quickly and easily gain the benefits of device diagnostic and decision support for operation and management.

    Real-time fault notification for billboard lighting system

    This paper presents a technique to implement the alert system for the faults of billboard lighting system. The proposed system consists of the current sensor module SCT-013-005 used to measure the overall current consumption of the billboard lighting system, ARDUINO UNO R3 used as the controller to determine the faults, and GSM module used to remotely transmit faulty data to the data server as well as to the user mobile via short message service. The alert data composes the current consumption of lighting system, number of the bulbs with abnormal condition, and identification number of base station. In addition, the conditions for sending notifications can be set. The billboard lighting system using seven bulbs connected in parallel is employed to test the performance of the proposed notification system. Test results verify that the proposed system can function correctly.
